HAPPY HOUR - MENU DESIGN

Buhhh, I love menu design! This is a bold, heavily illustrated and retro-leaning menu design for a happy hour program launching at a popular local watering hole in Chicago's Wicker Park. "Colorful midcentury diner vibes" and "something about a graph paper notepad" were the original requests, and I accepted the challenge with GUSTO.

Sticky Icky

I needed a few fun stop motion animations to promote a collection of stickers I designed for a zine release. I knew I wanted one simple, loop-friendly clip with not a ton of variation and one slightly longer animation with a very playful vibe, so I set out to make it happen. The stickers were a little bit sassy and a lotta bit silly, and I wanted the animations to reflect this. Each shoot was styled by hand and with natural light, fully shot on an iPhone (lol), and completed in about a day.

LOOSE IDEAS - ISSUE 02

Headlines: Beach Town 001, Ring Roadin’, Starting Over, Home Cooked, How to be Less of an Asshole (In General), Beautiful Memory Desserts Issue two feels like a true Loose issue. It’s a bit dreamy, a little confrontational, and it's packed with 35mm color film photography, illustrations and travel stories. There are just over 115 individual pieces of artwork (wow! you bet I counted) spread across 104 pages of vibrant visual storytelling. Bit of a jump from issue one’s 72 pages. Beach Town 001 takes us to a small town on Mexico’s Pacific coast for a much needed mental respite. Ring Roadin’ chronicles an incredible autumnal road trip around Iceland’s Ring Road. Home Cooked is an overwhelming photo essay of early lockdown home cooking captured on film. How to be less of an Asshole (in General) makes its second appearance with a slightly different title, and Beautiful Memory Desserts takes us on a rainbow journey into the day-to-day of yesterday.. or is it tomorrow? Either way, not bad for a sequel. Perfect bound A5 magazine, 104 pages. Below is a selection of pages from issue two. See more here.

Burn it when we get to it A big design obsession of mine is The Matchbook. Historically, they get a big chef kiss. Modern applications, mild chef kiss, although I still get giddy when I find a great design somewhere. Matchbooksget me. I get them. We're in love and we're running away together, sorry not sorry! What isn't amazing about a matchbook? There's ample space for creative branding, it's a practical tool that happens to start fire, and there's a little spot for a phone number or saucy note. sheesh. 10/10.
