If anyone wants to know what a leopard seal sounds like 🦷🩸
Leopard Seals are what happens when god needs a lizard and all he has is a mammal
leopard seal topic activated; i am so sorry to my long time followers who have seen me do this like ten times but i just can't help myself
OH MY GOD
That is a monster (respectful) If it was a lizard it would be a dragon.
They can be bigger than the biggest grizzly bears. They are about the size of a horse, just without the stilt legs. And their faces are hiding teeth like this (sorry it's kind of gross but it shows the teeth best)
Here's a leopard seal skull next to a horse skull
they can get as big as 12 feet and can weigh like 1,200 pounds. They can swim 35 miles an hour and eat only meat - regularly eating giant penguins that weigh more than 100 pounds each, and anything else they feel like they can kill. And they're pretty smart. Only an Orca is a more dangerous hunter in arctic waters, and even they usually leave a leopard seal alone.
A seal's closest land relative is a bear, and leopard seals will regularly hunt other seals, making this a bear that eats bears, but built for the ocean. You know, the terrifying ocean? A bear that lives there that eats the other bears that live there.
OBI-WAN: Ever make your way as far into the Labubu store?
JANGO: Once or twice.
OBI-WAN: Recently?
JANGO: Possibly...
gotta spell it out for him
another silly idea i had yaw
this is soo lazy. i did it with my finger on my phone again lol
while im talking bad fanfic lubes: rosin is only used with bowed string instruments, not plucked ones! it goes on the bow hairs to make them grip the strings better! most importantly, it comes in a SOLID CAKE and is STICKY. it's literally the opposite of lube. and jaskier thewitcher wouldn't be carrying it around anyway, because he plays THE LUTE
Sometimes I see posts on this site and I wonder what inspired them and other times I decide I probably really don’t actually want to know

A service dog for Ben
My name is Ben (33 years old) and after 20 years of mental health treatment, I have been discharged from further treatment. For years, I have been struggling with ADHD, Autism, and PTSD. The latter causes me to have multiple dissociations on a daily basis, which are attacks where my body continues on autopilot, and I am not aware of what I am doing. This can lead me to walk into traffic and come face to face with a car. Furthermore, I experience non-epileptic seizures where my legs give way and I fall to the ground. This happens to me in public on the sidewalk, but also along train tracks, in the middle of an intersection, and in other dangerous places. I am also regularly pulled back into flashbacks, old unpleasant memories or emotions. And my nights are filled with nightmares. The happy, creative, adventurous animal friend who enjoys walking, writing, and taking trips with friends has been locked away. Due to my disabilities, I live in isolation and my world has become ever so small.
But there is hope. My dream to reclaim my life as a thirty-something-year-old, expand my social network again, return to work, and spend time with family and friends can come true. How?
Through the help of a psychiatric service dog. I'll dog myself with the guidance and aid of a professional assistance dog school. This is a task I am capable of thanks to my background as a certified veterinary technician with experience in raising assistance dog puppies, and an internship at a police dog training academy.
The dog will alert me in time when an attack is coming, allowing me to go to a safe and quiet place to sit. The dog will be trained to fetch and bring my medication on time, wake me up and provide support during nightmares, lie on top of me to calm me down through pressure on my body, and prevent me from harming myself by licking my hands.
With the dog by my side, I can go out on the street again, visit family and friends, go on outings, do groceries, return to work, and resume living life.
But the training for this dog is costly. It amounts to around 11,000 euros for the training and acquisition of the dog. The health insurance company does not cover this type of assistance dog, and the WMO (Social Support Act) does not provide reimbursement for this process either. Hence, the request if you would like to make a contribution.

By now, we have been in the program with Hondwikkeling for 6 months. It is tough, but every day we are growing into a better team. He is now almost 8 months old. My very best friend, my support, and comfort. Of course, we have things to work on, such as his fear of the garbage truck or biting the leash when overstimulated. But I also see many good things in him, such as his natural alerts and instinctive behavior around DPT.
With guidance and training, we will get there. I’m not worried about that.
The commands/tasks he knows by now are: Sit, down, wait, touch, go on command, let go, here, touch, between.
We are working on: Stand, putting his head on my lap/DPT, down on feet, block, pulling (pulling the door open).
With your help, we can keep going. If we can raise the remaining 1600 euros, we will be well on our way. Every little bit helps.
*grabs your face* DO YOU FUCKING UNDERSTAND
HUMAN INNOVATION
Happy 10 years to this post, but more importantly, happy 10 years of exploration to New Horizons. I wish I knew this post would take off before I posted it without absolutely any information whatsoever, but I guess that’s how things work.
This isn’t just about image quality; it’s that before this mission, we had no way of knowing what Pluto would be like. We didn’t even know its true size. We thought maybe it was geologically dead, too cold for anything to be going on. But in 2015 the New Horizons probe flew by, imaged Pluto and its family of moons, and gave us a view we never had before.
Since I posted this in 2015, New Horizons has traveled over five and a half billion miles. It showed us that Pluto has glaciers of frozen nitrogen, it has cryovolcanoes that spew slushy water ice, it has a hazy blue atmosphere that’s slowly escaping out into space. There is internal heat that is driving geological change to this day. Pluto is dynamic and alive!
New Horizons is still actively collecting data, way out there. It whizzed past the Pluto system in just a few hours, it flew past another distant Kuiper Belt object a few years later, and continues its outward trajectory as it approaches the boundary of our solar system. It could join the Voyager probes in observing interstellar space - something incredibly rare and valuable. The spacecraft itself is just halfway through its projected mission lifespan, but its mission could get shuttered with the 2026 federal budget cuts. And if it gets turned off, it cannot be turned back on again.
Working in informal science education these days is unsettling, mainly because I feel like I’m watching support for our existence evaporating in front of my eyes. I don’t know how to convince the growing anti-science population that knowing more about the universe around us is important. That investing in space exploration leads to advances in technology that help us at home. That learning more about the worlds around us teaches us so much about our own planet. That knowing more about our own planet, our only home, is deeply vital.
There will probably always be more that we don’t know about our universe than what we do know. It will always be worth asking questions and seeking answers. Science is the medium that fills all nuance of the universe. Not to sound like a total hippie, but everything really IS connected. Physics shows us that. Knowing more can only help.
