tips for surviving this mess (artists ESPECIALLY) :

Export your blog content. If you can reach the site through its desktop version, click the person icon from your dash, click the name of a blog you have you want to export, select “Edit Appearance”. Scroll down and click “export (blog name)”. You will receive a .zip file. If anything ridiculous happens and you aren’t able to secure your account again, you at least should have your image files in one place. You will find in this folder the following (copied from the support article provided by tumblr staff themselves) : 

A Posts folder, with an HTML file for each post.

A Media folder, with the media from your posts, plus any media you’ve uploaded (like in messaging). These files will be in the format you uploaded them in  (JPG, GIF, PNG, MP4, and so on).

A representation of your blog’s messaging conversations, in XML format.

A representation of your blog’s posts, also in XML format.

If your blog truly is NSFW, or has a significant portion of NSFW content, flag it properly. You can do this from the same page as the Export function ; read the above to do reach this page.

Stop your queue from posting while things are wild. You’ll be drowned out by users helping each other with this glitchfest, and that’s if your post isn’t hidden from users due to links. Use the edit post function to move queued posts into your drafts, and reverse this process when you’re ready to put them back. This is important for art bloggers especially.

If your blog is flagged and taken down, you can e-mail staff or reach them from their contact links. www tumblr com /support - replacing spaces with dots. Several tumblr users who have gone through the process will know better than I do on this particular matter.

Keep an eye on your side blogs. It seems some takedowns are bringing side blogs down with them. There isn’t a great amount of information on the whys or hows - most likely, if a side blog has only one admin and the admin is taken down, the side blog will be taken down with it, but again, these are restorable. Make sure to include the name of any sideblogs you have that may be affected if you have to send a ticket in to staff, it will make your request go through faster.

If you have important information to impart to your followers but it involves links, do your best to avoid using links themselves. Use work-arounds like the one above, create a custom page on your own blog with links on it, or simply phrase it carefully, such as, “you can find me on DeviantArt with the username ____!”

Are you an artist with active commissions? Let your clients know. Send them a message letting them know that you may be unavailable if Tumblr makes your account glitch out. Explain that it will be temporary, but if they need anything, they can reach you through e-mail or on another website. If you don’t have off-site options, tell them you may be down temporarily, but will be back as soon as possible.

For those unaware because staff isn’t saying it

Tumblr was deemed too full of inappropriate content to be allowed to be downloaded from the app store.

It has this “inappropriate” problem because of rampant porn ad bot accounts. The old solutions were bots to detect image sets with nsfw content, the automatically enabled safe mode, tag filtering for mobile, and wide takedowns of nsfw bots based on words used (that’s why their messages are full of numbers and symbols, to evade this)

Tumblr released their own bot supposedly capable of wiping the ad bots, but it’s taking down many popular blogs, possibly due to sheer amounts of posting or sheer amounts of ad bots in their notes. This bot was likely rushed to be put out.

You are more likely to be accidentally flagged if you post external links, as well. If your acct is taken down you CAN get it back, but it’s a pain. E-mail tumblr support for help with this. It takes down side blogs with the main ones.

I’ll be halting posts for about a week or until this problem is fixed.

So my tumblr account mysteriously got deleted last night and of course I filed a report to see what was up, given that I did nothing wrong that I could discern

Why are random accounts just getting deleted? Why doesn’t tumblr, a website that RELIES on its userbase to function, not have better protection to prevent these things from happening to their userbase?

C’mon, Staff. Really??

Anyway, I’m glad to be back but please reblog this post if possible so people can be made aware of random blog deletions which aren’t their fault- and to contact Staff if this happens to themselves

Thanksgiving/Holiday Ask a Palooza

Before ethier Ink or Kitty can answer, a small leopard child walks into the room, a confused and nervous look on her face.

Janelle - “Uhhh, who are you talking to anyway?”

Kitty smiles and reaches down to pick up her daughter and sit her down on the couch between herself and Ink. Ink leans down to place a soft kiss on the top of her head and Kitty does the same. Janelle giggles.

Kitty - “Well, Daddy and I are answering questions for our new blog. I guess we got a little loud. We weren’t trying to disturb you. We’re sorry.”

Janelle - “Nah, its OK, I just heard Daddy shouting about wanting to be tall and I got curious. Then you guys got a gross and mushy.”

Janelle makes a sour face and sticks out her tongue in disgust.

Ink - “Well, I’m not sorry about wanting to be tall or being mushy with Mommy.”

Ink quickly steals a kiss from Kitty while Janelle gags loudly. Kitty blushes hard and takes several seconds to recover, blinking rapidly. Ink gives her a smug look.

Ink - “You are so cute when your flustered”

Kitty gives him a half hearted glare, then turns to Janelle.

Kitty - “ANYWAY, one of these questions is about you! Do you want to answer it?”

Janelle stops her face making and smiles brightly, bouncing in her seat.

Janelle - “OK!”

Kitty - “Ok, so this person wants to know what grade your in.”

Janelle - “I’m in first grade! Its fun sometimes, but writing suuuucks!”

Kitty - “Tell me about it.”

Janelle - “Can I answer another question?”

Ink - “Have you finished your homework?”

Janelle - “Yeah!”

Red - “she hasn’t”

Janelle - “TRAITOR!”

Kitty - “Oh, let’s see…. There’s me and Inky, obviously, then there’s our daughter Janelle, who is - Ink, where’s Elly?

Ink - "She’s in the dinning room with Red and Lana, doing her homework, I think.”

Kitty - “Oh, that’s right…..OH! We also have an Underfell Sans - we call him Red - and his SO Lana living with us, they’re basically Janelle’s uncle and Nottie - Lana’s agender so, that’s the term we use for them, although the technically correct term is ommer, but Lana and I think it sounds really dumb, and I’m rambling again…”

Kitty looks down with a blush, clasping her hands together. Ink chuckles and nuzzles into her neck.

Ink - “I like it when you ramble, s'cute.”

Kitty blushes harder.

Kitty - “Innnnkkkkyyyy…..”

Ink chuckles and presses a kiss to her jaw.

Ink - “Now who’s all cute and blushy, hmmm?”

Ink leans in but Kitty playfully pushes his face away with her paw.

Kitty - “You stop that, mister! I’m not finished answering the question and you’re being very distracting!”

Ink gives her a knowing look.

Ink - “You know you like it, Kitten…”

A loud aggravated child’s shriek echoes from several rooms over.

Janelle - “OH MY GOSH! STOP BEING GROSS!”

A gruff voice follows the shriek.

Red - “yeah, I’m gonna hurl all over her homework if I hear anymore mushy shit.”

Janelle - “DONT YOU DARE! I SPENT FIVE MINUTES MAKING THAT ‘e’ PERFECT!”

Kitty - “BEHAVE.”

Red - “we are being have.”

Kitty’s ears flick back.

Kitty - “Don’t make me come in there, you two….”

Janelle - “Sorry, mom”

Red - “wha- no I ain’t apologizin-OW! LANA-! geez, fine- SORRY MA!- there you happy? OW!”

Kitty - “Lana, stop smacking him! sweet stars above…..”

Ink tries to hold back a snicker and fails. Kitty glares at him.

Kitty - “Don’t you start!”

Ink - “Yes, Ma'am! I mean, no Ma'am!”

Kitty lets out a sigh, giving Ink a quick peck before continuing.

Kitty - “Apart from the trouble makers-”

Red - “HEY!”

Kitty - “-we also have three others who live with us as well, but they’re away doing…..whatever, but we consider them family as well. Then there’s Lana’s-”

Ink - “We don’t talk about that.”

Kitty - “Oh, right…Well aside from…that…a lot of the AU Sanses are like uncles to Elly so I guess they count as well, at least the ones we’re on speaking terms with”

Ink - “I don’t remember any AU Sanses we aren’t on speaking terms with.”

Kitty - “Underlust-”

Red - “Killer! Sans-”

Janelle - “Horrortale-”

Kitty - “-We don’t talk about that.”

Ink - “Oh yeah! That was-”

Kitty - “-Something we’re not talking about.”

An awkward silence falls over the house before Kitty begins speaking in an overly bouncy manner.

Kitty - “-So YEAH, we have a pretty big family! Almost infinite!”

Ink - “Technically, it is infinite-”

Kitty - “RIGHT!”

Kitty - “That was a quick recovery.”

Ink - “MAKE ME TALL.”

Kitty - “INK!”

Ink hides his blush in his hands as Kitty kisses the top of his skull, chuckling.

Ink’s protests dissolve into muffled embarassed sounds as he pulls his scarf over his face in a failed attempt to hide his now rainbow face.
