This is going to be a rambling mess so I apologise but I'm just gonna get it out (maybe, but probably not that coherently)

For me, this came back to the core idea that Crowley is good. Not only that, the best of them. And in Aziraphale's eyes, the best there's ever been.

Last season he said he said he was willing to abandon humanity to be with Aziraphale- let's get away, be an "us" - but this finale proved that Aziraphale's knowledge that if they ran away and left the humans to destruction they could never really be happy was correct, and really showed that he a) truly knows Crowley, who would've been miserable if humans had been destroyed and b) really did go back to heaven for Crowley, to ensure the safety of the humans so they could finally be together.

Which is why, at the end, when Aziraphale says he knows what he wants, but it doesn't matter, it's so heartbreaking but the ultimate sacrifice and show of love - he knows that even though all Crowley has wanted is to be with Aziraphale, he will pick the chance for humanity to exist for humanities sake above his own want and Aziraphale, out of his love for Crowley, will do the same.

And so, when they are sitting together in that final scene - in what I will always imagine is one of the infinite iterations of their celestial selves, whose particles were part of the new universe alongside the other angels and demons and humans they knew - and Anthony says that he's got all he's ever wanted, it is a moment of such profound significance and contentment (and just grabs me by the heart)

They were the first angel and demon to be granted a choice. They chose creation and humanity over themselves. And finally, because of that, they get to exist without restraint and have what they've both always wanted. They set themselves free in the only way that was truly possible.
