This blog is basically dormant, but I've noticed the playlists still get a lot of attention. I love making playlists, and I'm personally proud of the ones I made for the guys here, so I want to make sure people get to enjoy those even if I don't post Content(TM) anymore.

I keep having to go back and edit the playlists because YouTube keeps taking videos down, so I'm re-making them all on Spotify today. The YT links still work in case that's how you prefer them, but I'm done trying to fix them every time a video disappears. I'll be making new posts with the Spotify playlists as I get them together.

THE SOUND OF TODOMATSU

Music? Well, I mean, I don’t really know a whole lot about it, outside of what I do for the band. But I do know it’s one of the most important things for setting a mood! I went to a party a few weeks ago, and everything was great - the food, the drinks, the crowd - but the music wasn’t very good. It didn’t suit the atmosphere. There was something that felt off the entire night! So don’t ever doubt the power of music.

Or musicians, really. They have a power to charm that actors and models don’t get to have. I admit I started out wanting to sing just so I could be popular, but … well, I’ve learned to appreciate it a little more.

As far as the music I like? Well, a lot of it is lighter stuff, like pop ballads and champagne soul and a little bit of jazz influence. Some bouncier, more upbeat rock songs can be thrown in, too. Oh, and the others sneer at it, but I have a weakness for bubblegum … It’s sweet and cheerful and it exists for nothing but to make someone happy, just for a little bit!

Like me, I hope.

I’m not entirely sure I didn’t dream this but... isn’t there a manga by Osamu Tezuka where he reveals that the hero’s wife just had triplets or something and Iyami himself makes a cameo appearance in like two panels just to remark something like “Haw haw just like a litter of puppies!”, then gets pummeled by the protagonist and doesn’t show up again?

It stuck in my mind because it shows a very deep understanding of Iyami’s character by another mangaka, in my opinion. Having him cross over to another universe just to make a stupid remark no one asked for (kind of ironic too because it’s not like he doesn’t personally know identical sextuplets) then show him getting his ass kicked for said remark.

I spent HOURS looking for this screencap, I genuinely thought I had hallucinated it but no!

Iyami shows up in Phoenix just to make a dumb comment about the fact this guy’s wife had quintuplets (I misremembered the exact amount of children) and is promptly knocked the fuck out, as he deserves.

But! As good as Iyami showing up randomly in a manga he doesn’t belong in just to be an ass is, it doesn’t hold a candle to the OTHER Osomatsu-kun joke I found in this same page. This one wasn’t on Tezuka I believe, it was some clever adaptation on the translators part probably but the sextuplets show up too and what do they want us, the readers, to be sure of?

They’re not the Osmonds, guys.

I’ve joked that the sextuplets were the Monkees before and I’ve said that Iyami was the long lost member of the Herman’s Hermits who got kicked out for stealing once but the Osmonds is SUCH a better joke...
