Henry Fischer keeps it mixed up, so characters will refer to her at random as she/her, he/his, they/them from day to day or even sentence to sentence.  you’ll also see the flickering Mr./Mrs. and Henry/Henrietta (though usually she just goes by Henry.)

the thistle and spade characters have what we lovingly lampshade as “gender identity telepathy.”  upon meeting another person, their preferred gender is already communicated clearly, regardless of any other indications.

I hate this stuff so much and it won't stop showing up as a suggested item. I hate this.

thisp and spade gets recommended to people? awesome, i had no idea.

so here’s a quick how to on this: 

i don’t get stuff inserted into my dash and i’m pretty sure it’s because i have this on xkit:

but, you can also get this on xkit:

as you can see, you can hide the recommended bar. but if you don’t want to get rid of all the recommended stuff (i like recommended blogs, i usually find cool stuff that way) you can also use the “mute” app or tumblr savior.  just have it block out “thistleandspade,” i tag all the comics that way.

and of course, if that doesn’t work for you, the good old block button should get rid of any thistle and spade on your dash.  let’s keep your dash a safe and fun place for you.

Hello, my name is Taneka Stotts (@neekaneeks). I'm helping out lgbtwebcomics update a few categories for their tagpacker and masterlist. Originally aromantic and asexual were a combined category, but it has obviously grown in the last year and it's now time to split the two. We're curious if you define your comic, Thistle and Spade, as either asexual or aromantic. If still both, please just let me know and I'll gladly see it updated.

Wow, thank you so much for hitting me up!  I think it’s great that the two categories have grown so much; that’s just heartwarming to hear!

Thistle and Spade has both asexual and aromantic characters in it, and the representation of both matters a lot to me.  The comic is about friendship and love in its many forms.  That being said, two of the three major characters are on the asexual spectrum, and none of the three are aromantic.  It won’t be until later in the comic that a few aromantic characters get really major roles.

i love thistle and spade, but the font size is really small and hard for me to read, especially on tumblr. is there somewhere i can read the comic in a larger format, or where i can zoom the pages in to read it?

Okay so I thought a bit about your ask, and it’s something I’ve been concerned about.  What I’ve decided to do is to create a new site with a larger photo format, and a “click to see zoomed” function.

In the future, I’d like to add transcriptions to the bottom of the pages.  I’d also like to tweak the font to make it easier to read on future pages.

I was looking through this blog again (because you have some really cool artwork) and I was wondering what are those pentagons on Atticus's upper arms? (Also I really adore Thistle and Spade and I'm excited to see where the story is going!!!)

aw, thank you so much! those pentagons (which I often forget to draw but are canon to the comic) are Atticus’ mercenary tattoos! he got them when he became an indentured servant/mercenary for the group he’s contracted to.

thank you for your ask! i am also excited for you all to see where the story is going! i figuratively cannot wait to get further along in the plot with you all.
