This page will primarily consist of whatever book I’m reading at the time
This has been an interesting year for me. I haven’t been much for reading these last few years, loving the adhd gifted kid burnout life. A friend of mine recommended fourth wing, and it seemed to jumpstart my old love for reading, I used to just devour books. Since June I’ve read a ton and absolutely fell in love with Pierce Brown’s and Brandon Sanderson’s books.
This year I’d like to get through at least the first era of mistborn, and maybe the second. After that I want to dive into jade city and sun eater, anyone got any other recommendations for me???
Well folks I’m back again to share my thoughts on the books I read in 2026 that no one asked for. I was able to keep going with my momentum from reading last year, knocked out 80 books this year.
My five star reads for the year were:
Piranesi, fantastic magical read. The less you know going into it the better.
Mistborn, lumping the whole era 1 trilogy together here. Great fantasy, loved the characters and the magic system
Dracula. This one was down right fantastic. Some how I made it this far without ever knowing the full story. I get that it’s the origin of a ton of vampire tropes, so it was funny to see the crew spend half the book not knowing what they were up against
Dungeon crawler Carl, again grouping the whole series together here. Picked this one up on a hunch, fell in love and read all 7 books within about two months this summer. Super fun, and I highly recommend if you can put up with some occasional guy humor
Animal farm, this one hit a little close to home with today’s political situation.
The devils. Slow start on this one but once it got going I really enjoyed it. Kind of a fantasy suicide squad. Glad to hear there will be more in this series.
Buffalo hunter hunter. This is another one where the less you know about it the better, but it fits well with another favorite on this list. Best horror I’ve read.
Ideally I’d love to keep this going for next year, here’s some of what I’m aiming to read for 2027:
More smut/romance. This year taught me that I appreciate some smut. It’s a nice palate cleanser after reading so much sci-fi and fantasy.
More political and non fiction commentary. Again it’s a nice palate cleanser and it’s good to learn something.
More Brandon Sanderson. Ideally I’d like to knock out era 2 and start making a dent in the rest of the cosmere.
More from Sarah j Maas, not my favorite, but I like talking about it with my wife.
More Joe Abercrombie. The devils was fantastic
James islington, I’ve heard WotM and SotF are good.
Stephen king. A friend gave me a copy of the shining, so I’d like to give his books another try. I didn’t like them the last time I tried reading them, but that was 10+ years ago, so who knows.
And like everyone who reads, I’d like to clear out some of my physical TBR
Talk to y’all again in a year! Anyone have any book recommendations??
why does this have 32k notes? it’s just a picture of a knife in a ranch bottle, is there some unspoken joke that 32 thousand people share? what is going on here, i dont get it. it’s just a fucking picture of a knife in a ranch bottle. is there some spiritual connection people have to this picture? is there some ominous and mystical reasoning that this has 32 thousand notes? do people reblog this because it makes them look like some indie blogger? or is there just something funny to this? someone please explain
the japanese animation industry will save us in the gen AI wars. even the most exhausted high budget animator preferring labor by hand over muddy slop might as well sway some opinions: cause who else knows better? and if that doesn’t work aka ai peddlers fire voice actors into poverty we need to start sending katanas in the mail like hayao miyazaki’s producer
