i do appreciate the way that we tumblr users have evolved our language to discuss our feelings related to The Character/The Guy. you used to have to just say he was hot or he was making your ovaries explode or he was a precious cinnamon roll even if he looked bad or was just kind of standing there or whatever. now you can say things like āthe creatureā or āhe looks so sopping wet hereā or āi want to chain him to my radiatorā like itās just more inclusive and adaptable to the situation
as someone on the asexual spectrum, this shift in language genuinely made me feel more comfortable and happy in fandom spaces. i've never once wanted to lick a man's abs. i HAVE wanted to chain a man to my radiator. and that's beautiful.
Rotating the blorbo in the microwave of your mind just says so much. No specifics needed.
Boy howdy do I love Jack Spicer. I should go into the character tag to see more art of hi-get that grown man away from him.

This is true of the manga, but I love how the anime accentuates the absolute physical trust the apprentices have with Qifrey. Specifically with Agott, the way she is so ready when Qifrey says āhang on tight, I need my hands freeā to cling to him a mile into the sky, and then in the latest episode, how, as soon as she impacts Qifrey while flying to him, she makes no move to save herself, she just curls into him and trusts that he will keep them from falling.
And I think it works as a signal to the audience, to subtly go āhey, I know we donāt trust Qifrey right now, heās being shady, but we can always trust him to protect the physical wellbeing of his kids. Remember that.ā Idk man maybe Iām getting too attached to a teeny detail but aaaaaaghhhh thatās her dad.
after hearing joshua water's voice acting in this episode i can say with the utmost certainty that "had i know that i was never meant to be saved, i would have stayed far away from youāthe sky's kindest, most radiant star" is going to feel like tanking 6 nuclear bombs to the face
writing tip #4062:
not won any literary awards? give yourself literary awards. book of the year. best book of all time. best writer of all time. literally nobody can stop you

people hate it when i say "black people getting cancer is racist" but im literally fucking right because systemic racism has led to chemical dumping being acceptable in black/brown neighborhoods and black people have higher rates of cancer as a result
the "cancer belt" is also just a metric for black/brown population density and that is a function of a racist society
@theejuggler : #same shit going on with data centers right now
One of the reasons (arguably the primary reason) that Flint Michigan has had decades of poor-quality water is because of automobile manufacturing utilizing lead in their production and gasoline and then dumping it into the river.
Data centers also need a lot of water to function and we know time and time again from history that companies will sooner poison everyone in a zip code than safely process industrial waste.
Not just the water! Data centers also use a lot of electricity, sometimes more than the area they're being built can supply. Some, including Elon Musk's xAI*, are running dozens of (unlicensed!) gas turbines in majority-Black parts of the Memphis, TN metro area.
