The aroace panic of a friend who’s been acting a little weird recently say they have “something to tell you”. No, don’t tell me, actually. Keep it to yourself please, I’m begging.
I love how dean is fruity even in small details like the movies he references and his literary every friend is gay, every queer person around them always gravitates towards him, and he's always the one to get hit on by other men, this is so funny, genuinely.
Okay I don't like how Pinterest just called me out but whatever...
Saiki Miku or Hatsune Kusuo???? IDK ><
For your consideration, on the Good Omens finale...
God, voiced by Frances McDormand, has not been heard from since season 1. The God who appears in the bookshop at the end of season 3 was summoned by Aziraphale writing in the new Book of Life. She is the embodiment of Aziraphale's hopes and fears about what God really is, and she does everything exactly as Aziraphale would hope -- she obeys Crowley's command to pause in destroying them. She answers their questions sincerely, not in riddles. She allows them true choice. And she honors their wishes.
Aziraphale brings here there, and she does as Aziraphale wills, for once. One interpretation could be that this is not actually God (the God who was shuffling the cards in season 1) but Aziraphale's manifestation of God.
Season 1, as an adaptation of the book, resolves the problems of season 1 and the book, and does so in a way that really doesn't need a sequel. Season 2 reopens all of the same problems, and creates an ever-recurring repetion of these same problems, within the system it creates. As long as Heaven and Hell exist, the same crisis will repeat. The finale ends the cycle of crisis by ending the system of Heaven and Hell, at Az & Crowley's choice.
Aziraphale and Crowley end up together, on their own side. They end up with Aziraphale being ready to give up the earth to just be with Crowley -- you can see the disappointment on his face when Crowley says the opposite, until he realizes Crowley is right. And Crowley is finally willing to sacrifice being with Aziraphale, for humanity, which is what Aziraphale was trying to do at the end of season 2. They both come around to seeing each other's point of view, together. That is their happy ending. They're finally on the same side. For real. For good.
And in the new Earth that Aziraphale and Crowley create, they get to be together again, in a new, human way, with their wholly free will.
Crowley and Aziraphale's choice did not wipe out humanity. Everyone and everything was already gone.
That was not the plan for the Second Coming. That would have caused a war between heaven and hell that killed humanity and destroyed earth.
Michael wiped out humanity, earth and the entire universe by destroying the book of life.
No Alpha Centauri. Nowhere for them to go except staying in an empty bookshop with nothing else and God and Satan being able to pop in whenever they want?
God basically gave them a choice between having it all back as it was (with them never being free of heaven and hell and inevitably having another Second Coming, a Great Plan and war that destroys earth) or living in a world of nothing forever.
Instead they chose to break free and make a new universe were none of that could exist, including them and including God.
They would never have been left alone, heaven and hell always dragged them back into it. They would have never been free, or happy together. So they stood in front of God and told her to go fuck herself.
Don't tell me they lost.
the concept of a version of Aziraphale finally having a mother who loves him, who he talks about fondly and casually on his first date with Crowley… that makes me want to sob actually. I’m so glad he gets more than God in the end.
great and now i'm crying again
Honest (SPOILER) thoughts regarding the GO finale, I think a valuable piece of writing people are kinda overlooking is the INCREDIBLE subversion of their main motivations
Like we as the audience are lead to believe from the start that Crowley is this jaded, cynical little fucker who’s fond of one person and one person only. The typical “nothing in this world matters except you” grumpy who doesn’t give a shit about a universe that rejected him. Aziraphale, likewise, is pretty easily seen as the bigger picture guy, it’s obvious he loves Crowley deeply but it’s the mission of the larger world, the good of the people, that draws his time and energy- he chooses that responsibility more than Crowley. These are the roles we’ve seen them play and the archetypes we’ve kinda locked them in to. It matches with their grumpy vs sunshine attitudes, their aesthetics etc
Then in s2 we started noticing some cracks in it. We’ve met Angel Crowley who is a beautiful sunshiny dreamer who cares so deeply about the gorgeous world around him. Aziraphale starts to get a bit wrapped up in his own self interest from time to time, caring more about his bookshop or Crowley or even Jim than his larger mission. These little moments added depth to their characters, but ultimately didn’t shake our ideas of them. But THEN-
When they were asked by God what they would save, everything in the world has been stripped from them. The universe is lost- all that remains is each other and the final question of “what in the whole of existence matters to you most?” And we think we know what they’ll say, we think the way we’ve been taught all this time- Crowley is the selfish lover and Aziraphale is the heartbroken rejector.
But instead we meet their cores. We meet the truest stripped down versions of themselves and we learn the truth. Aziraphale picks Crowley. His lover, his life, the being that completes him. He makes the selfish, or loving, choice, no matter what it means to the world. And Crowley- Crowley is crying for the world. He is so utterly helplessly desperate for humanity to have their chance that he’s willing to throw away everything out of his sheer love for them. We’ve met the old part of him again, the artist and the lover, the selfless one he’s had within him all along. And for Aziraphale we’ve finally met the lover in him too, the one who’s finally willing to put his love for Crowley above all else.
I don’t know but I think it’s absolutely beautiful to get to know characters that you thought had these black and white motivations, only to discover that when it all comes down to it, they are capable of throwing everything we assumed about them out the window. There’s no black and white or even grey, but a whole world of mixed up colours and choices that make them whole. The sinful Angel and the selfless demon to the last.
The first gif is what we saw in the show. The second gif is Michael and David out of character in between takes (Michael is wearing his orange jacket, which Aziraphale/Asa is not wearing in the show).
Michael and David are holding hands in between takes and I am dying...
sometimes i look at something and all i can think is “…you were drarry fanfiction weren’t you?”

i like to imagine that if ao3 was a nation there would be a queerbait city state and destiel would be like the vatican
i thought people were lying about the ao3 curse but then i started writing a multi-chapter fic for the first time and the next weekend my cat almost dies, my dominant hand gets torn up by a dog, and water starts dripping very heavily from my ceiling. worst weekend of my life and i’m still scared to revisit that fic
update: my cat died. so. officially the worst weekend of my life.
