So that is a video of a woman like, literally piece-by-piece, word-for-word-ing, what her husband's trip to the grocery store for their household is going to be. And I saw another creator stitch this video talking about - I mean they had a really dope word for it and I can't remember it right now, but it's about performed incompetence, and how actually what this husband is doing is exaggerating their own incompetence and exaggerating their own incapability to force the labor that they don't want to do - this husband - onto their partner, right? That their wife will hopefully be like, "Oh my gosh it's just easier for me to do it myself, so I'm gonna do it myself. You're good."
And now they're absolved of the need to contribute to the household. So actually, that performance of incompetence is an investment that that husband is making for his future self. You feel me? It is like a patriarchal investment. And it's two-pronged, right? So you don't have to - One, you don't have to do the thing that you don't want to do, which is go to the grocery store, but two, you've set the expectations for your own capability so low that whatever you end up doing is incredible.
So, now I'm going to do my favorite thing which is to make it about race, and I'm actually going to say that in a parallel sense, like that is a patriarchal investment that the husband is making into his future self, but I think that actually, in the same way, mediocrity is a gift that whiteness gives to its own future. You know what I'm saying? That whiteness performing mediocrity sets the bar so low that the generations that will eventually inherit the legacies of whiteness can do anything and feel entitled to like, riches and fortune, right? And we also accept that performance of incompetence, and that performance of mediocrity, and then accept the bare minimum from whatever white person, or whatever beneficiary of whiteness comes along and does just more than we would expect from them.
And I think the - because of anti-blackness, it's the opposite for black people, right? Like, to escape the violence of whiteness you have to perform such excellence, and inherently the bar is constantly getting higher and higher, until you have all these superhuman black people who are just getting by.
Anyway, I've gotta brush my teeth. Bye!]

They DID that!!!
It took me about 15 seconds in to realize what was happening in this vid, but the second I did, I legit came. This is… I got chills and got so much validation for my theories about tap and pretty much any genre of music here…
Tap is probably one of the dance styles that gets the least amount of credit four how badass it is
Holy hell-
Sorry I don’t get it?
They’re tap dancing, a kind of dancing typically associated with being old-fashioned and kind of silly. Personally, even tap dancing to old music is awesome in my eyes, but this is on a totally new and exciting level
The thing about tap is that it’s so often seen as a fancy, old-fashioned dainty dance that only posh (and generally white) people do in tuxedos but it didn’t used to be the case.
Way back in the early days, it was where black performers in Vaudeville were legendary for it in Jazz and Jive routines. At about 1:37, this is where the Nicholas brothers go off.
It’s such an expressive and joyful kind of dance and matches so well with hip hop beats and rhythm, which is why the modern reworking of it is so awesome.
In case anyone is wondering…
This is Chloe Arnold and her group, The Syncopated Ladies. Go follow their IG! She is completely self taught and because of it has created her own unique style of tapping. She choreographed a killer routine to Formation and Doves Cry.
The history of tap dance is uniquely African American, much in the same way swing dance is. Slave owners took away the drums, so another way to keep the rhythm alive was found.
Nowadays tap has branch off into two styles: Broadway and street (or rhythm). Both pay homage to their roots in different ways.
Hip hop evolved out of tap dance btw (not solely, it had many other influences but you can see how bringing hip hop back into tap is extremely natural).

I always have to reboot this.
For anyone wondering, this is amazing enrichment for the animal and a great way to involve guests! The lions aren’t forced to play with the rope if they don’t want to, and these guys (and anyone else who tries this out) have an awesome close up and hands on experience, all without having to come in direct contact with the cat!
@why-animals-do-the-thing
This definitely counts as #actually cute. This video is from the San Antonio Zoo, and the lioness’ name is Axelle. As @ordinaryredtail said above, the tug of war interaction is entirely voluntary on her part.
My guess is that the zoo staff did use some positive reinforcement training to teach her how to pick up and pull on the rope at first, because that’s not necessary something a lion would just do on their own. While it’s also probable that she’s rewarded with something tasty did choosing to engage with the members of the public like this, Axelle wouldn’t be engaging if it was a negative experience for her (there aren’t enough snacks in the world to coerce a lion into doing something they find actively distressing). If she didn’t want to participate, she could just walk away.
Some sanctuary and animal rights groups have taken issue with this interaction because they consider it unethical to ask a lion to engage in any “unnatural behavior” “for the benefit of the public,” calling it exploitation. It is worth keeping in mind, however, that learning and engaging in novel behaviors is hugely enriching for animals in human care, and that lions have no concept of exploitation. As long as the lion is not bothered by the presence or noise of the crowd, is not injured or harmed, and is engaging on an entirely voluntary basis, this sort of thing is entirely ethical. It is far safer than any type of interaction where a member of the public is coming into direct context with a big cat, but still allows people to directly experience the sheer strength of a lion up close.

Kidding (2018)
This is called
Shaynas Sequence
a lot of people are tagging this with “film” and “movies” or talking about the magic of moviemaking but i really want to point out that Kidding is a TV show.
i feel it’s important to make this distinction because there’s a common (sometimes subconscious) thought that TV is a lesser form of digital art compared to film, but television, especially recently, has been phenomenal and it deserves proper credit as a storytelling medium, as well as a craft just as capable of amazing work like this
This is fucking INCREDIBLE.
Masterful.
I also want to point out that they did this with not one but two dogs! A puppy even!! One of the first things I learned in filmschool is that filming with animals or children is suuper difficult because they are unpredictable. And they did it with THIS SHOT. The balls, honestly.
