Summary: After her father's death and getting dishonorably discharged from the military, Osla "Rook" Mercar moves into her friend's abandoned farm, to take care of the animals and to escape her personal demons. Turns out Mournville has enough of its own, locally sourced demons to haunt her all winter. Will the town's veterinarian, Doctor Volkarin, be able to dispel some of that darkness? Can Osla keep him safe?

What if Dragon Age was Stardew Valley? But make it horror? What then? Work fully drafted, posting as I edit.

I put another chapter of my Victorian fanfiction so I decided to do simple show and tell how mages in my story cast their magic.

Siggin (or in this fanfic "Gavin") is the day mage who uses sparks to read items, whilst Emmrich is night mage who is following threads.

Re the anon ask you got last week, how abt rook flustering emmrich 👀👀

I don't know why I thought this was about AWLOF Rook but you know what I'm going with it

the first time Rook play-flirts with Emmrich by planting a hand next to him on the wall and leaning in saying, "Hey handsome, come here often?" in a proper alpha tone of voice his knees just about give out. He gets so red that Rook accidentally breaks character laughing. She's still giggling when she pushes him onto his knees. (She only stops laughing about when he gets his mouth on her.)

She's a little shit, so she thinks playing around with his propriety is so funny. She immediately clocks that he gets flustered if she starts feeling him up if they're anywhere near a window (don't worry, he's very clearly into it, he's just embarrassed) and immediately pushes him against the pane, face to the world, as her hands drop down and touch him, out of sight. Probably the hardest he's come in years.

Immediately flustered every time she plops into his lap and deliberately wriggles. She's so damn pretty, he's embarrassed just how eager he is around her.

When she marks him and then deliberately turns down his collar when they step outside. (This is very rare given the social pressures they're facing, but every now and again they're doing something like taking a stroll around a deserted location, and it feels scandalous to be out in the open, even when they're doing it where they deliberately won't be seen.)

The first time she shows up to drop something off for him in his lecture-- this isn't because of her, it's because of the shit-eating grins his some of his students are suddenly wearing

the first time he sees her staring off into space, asks what she's thinking, and gets treated to a lovingly descriptive, X-rated fantasy starring him

the first time Rook heaves him over her shoulder, one hand braced on his buttocks to keep him in place-- Rook fully intended this as a joke right up until she felt just how much it was doing it for him. She now regularly carries him off to bed and oh boy that alone could do as foreplay most days
