So I was invited to my friend's wedding and I wanted to gift her and her wife something that they could both use and I landed on the idea of a photo album. The end result departed quite a bit from my initial vision (a fantasy grimoire/spellbook that looked like it was bound in dragonskin) but I'm still quite pleased with it!

This was a fucking roller coaster of things going horribly wrong and I ended up having to remove like half the photo pockets I initially put in because it added so much swell, but I'm actually quite pleased with the end result! It's giving ✨overstuffed research journal✨ and I love it

I haven't heard what they think of it yet but I hope they love it!!

the ghost and the raven series update time:

So on one hand I'm thrilled to announce that I'm getting better at making the size of books match!

On the other hand, I fucked up casing in the second book and the third ended up both perfect and tragic. I cased it correctly and it looks beautiful, except I forgot about dye batches and so it's a completely different color from the first two 😭😭😭

My first ever rebind! This was a gift for my (other) sister and because I'm a clown I decided to do this literally the week my parents were driving down to visit her, except I work full time so I did literally everything in a single day the DAY BEFORE they left 🤡. I'm talking I had to wake up before 4am in order to take these pictures and wrap it before work and then my mom had to drive by my work to pick it up kind of finished just in time (technically I finished it mid afternoon, however it had to sit in the press for 8 hours). Anyways, I'm thrilled with how it came out and my sister really likes it so everything worked out 😅.

MY FIRST LEATHER BIND! I'm so fucking thrilled with how this came out, I think it's absolutely gorgeous! Which is great because this fic honestly made me go kinda feral and I really really didn't want to fuck it up.

I'm currently working on the rest of this series, just waiting on supplies (and also need to finish reading the fifth work which is a chonky 200k).

Alrighty, next up is another anthology, this one is a collection of a bunch of my favorite outsider pov fics from across different fandoms.

I designed the cover to look like an apartment building and it was a part of my ✨adventures in gilding✨ during which I fucked around with gold foil and found out because there's glitter everywhere. STILL.

In other news, I have now filled a shelf with solely binds I made for myself!

Honestly not sure how I feel about this cover, but if there's one thing I can say with certainty it is that it is very shiny.

Now for my first bind of 2025 (which I finished in January 😅).

This is one of my absolute favorite fics of all time (even though it is sadly unfinished) and it took me a while to figure out where to split it for multiple volumes. I couldn't find a great spot, hence the absurd difference in size between them.

Now that I've caught up and posted all the binds I did in 2024 it's time for stats!

I started bookbinding in June and from that time to the end of December I made 17 books.

I bound a total of 30 fics (that anthology is really fucking with things here).

The total word count for all the fics I bound last year was 1,571,365 words, with a total page count (not including title pages, table of contents, or fly leafs) of 6,118 pages.

And now my masterpiece, which I affectionately refer to as a monstrosity, an abomination.

A little context here, so I decided that I wanted to bind a copy of Clouds' Viridian: The Green Guide for my sister, @vilesssserpent Christmas. The important context here is that I thought it would be funny if I bound it as a single volume rather than splitting it into multiple volumes of much more reasonable size. I committed to the bit. Also, in my infinite wisdom I made this decision like two weeks before Christmas 😔.

Anyways it's a fucking behemoth and I love it dearly. I think it's truly one of the best books I've made, the case turned out fantastic 🤌

Next up was my first attempt at an anthology! It's a bunch of my favorite fics from Arthuria_pendragon's Kiseki no Sedai: The Family series on a03.

I am incredibly pleased with how this one came out!!!

Apparently I took like zero pictures of the fic I bound next, it was a gift for my best friend and I kinda fucked it up which is annoying but anyway. The fic I did next (once I finally got over my stress about fucking up covers) I decided to go for a kinda of futuristic/scifi theme.

Here's my first attempt at an interconnected spine design! I'm really really pleased with it and I think it turned out really well! I had to think really hard while it doing it though, to make sure it turned out right and aligned properly 😅

On another note this amazing fic which I love dearly is incomplete and speaking of fic authors being prolific, I gotta share this detail: each volume is roughly the same page count (literally off by like one page each) and while volume one is 19 chapters, volume two is 13, volume three clocks in at a whopping total of 5. FIVE CHAPTERS. I SWEAR ONE OF THOSE CHAPTERS IS LITERALLY A THIRD OF THE BOOK. THE BOOK IS THREE HUNDRED PLUS PAGES.

Okay so Shadows: The Horror Movie Heroes is my absolute favorite of Clouds' fics and when they finished it I immediately bound it as quickly as I could. The cover is my absolute favorite I've done so far (I couldn't find the original link I used but here's the one I could find, as always credit goes to the original artist)

My sister says that the words being misaligned like that is deeply unsettling which means that I achieved my goal in doing that so I'm thrilled with the vibes

Chaos round!

Okay so I definitely got these a little out of order because I bound Throw a Chair Through a Window and Call it a Day before Sword and Shield but oh well. Anyways this fic is a beautiful chaotic Dadzawa masterpiece and I love it. Obviously I chose green 🤷.

Next is Textonymous which is a beautiful chaotic three way crossover found family chatfic and I love it dearly. I kinda rushed the cover design process (I ran out of silver but got impatient and decided to use bronze only to immediately regret that decision, you know how it goes, but it's grown on me)

FeBee's fic Sword and Shield was the first fic that I ended up having to split, this one ended up being three volumes, each one about ten chapters. For my first attempt at making what is essentially a matching set I think i did alright, it's not perfect but 🤷. I also chose a red floral theme, no particular reason, just vibes 🤷
