The illustration/design process is really more fun than I give it credit for. There’s always so much problem solving to do, and compromises to make. If I had it my way, everything would be super traditional and by hand, but I have to say this turned out to have a good balance of vector and texture. Here’s the final product, and where it began.
I’ve been trying to add more graphic design and typography-based projects to my portfolio. Hope you like! This has been a comforting scripture to me as of late.
Once in a while I’ve got to get away from my more nagging projects and draw something fun. So BAM, here’s a mermaid. Red pencil and digital.
I have to redo this page because of some further research I found about Juniper trees, but I almost feel like thats a blessing. I was already unsure about my direction with this graphic novel, and now I have more reason to take it around a new corner. I always try and appreciate the practice and hours I put into something, even if I don’t end up using it. Because all in all, I’ve learned. Still, I’ll let you guys have a look!
Rework of the poor bloody boy based on Grimm’s The Juniper Tree. I went with red pencil instead of blue, more detail and a sadder expression. This was a style test for my graphic novel, and will probably used as intro page as well.
