‘They’ is totally the perfect pronoun for referring to the Doctor in general (rather than a specific incarnation) because not only is it gender neutral, it’s also both singular and plural, and hence very fitting for one person who has, in a way, been thirteen different people.

Humans are cute. Its cute that we get excited at the sight of different colours and we have nicknames for each other based off of the stars. Its cute that we create art purely to inspire emotion, and that we laugh (why do we laugh? What is the purpose?) or that we like to look after plants from a young age just to feel good, like we protected them. Its cute. Humans are cute.
