honestly kaneki is so good at stuff?? he’s artistic and can cook and cut hair and he’s v good at tutoring and he’s patient and kind and giving and sweet, and he memorizes fighting moves from books and has read way above his reading level since he was a kid but he’s so often reduced to some moe character (as kuroneki) or an unfeeling ruthless violent character (as shironeki) and it’s so frustrating bc he’s so much more than any of those things?? as kuroneki he’s weak and scared but he’s also determined and willing to kick ass to save his loved ones. as shironeki he’s deadly and has a colder side to himself but he’s still the big brother who cuts hinami’s hair and holds her hand when she’s nervous. so it would just be p cool if ppl stopped reducing him to one or two traits to suit their ships/idea of him

not one of my favorites, but one of the interesting characters. Thanks to Mutsuki, the full impact on the psyche of a person who has experienced sexualized and physical violence in the family was perfectly demonstrated. The gradual splitting of personality, delusional ideas and obsessive thoughts are perfectly shown. The ending, of course, is on the verge of fantasy, because you can't just get rid of everything that Mutsuki himself did and what he had to go through in his youth. He is the kind of person who was left alone with his thoughts and unfortunately could not cope.
