Continuing the saga of Evvy Trevelyan, her dearest friend Mahanon Lavellan gets a chapter next in which he reminiscences about how he met Evvy when they were children and became her self-proclaimed bodyguard.
I won't lie, I absolutely love writing Mahanon - he's a goofy, loyal, lovable rogue, and writing some of his and Evvy's backstory was a delight.
“Me? But I’m no one,” Evvy protested. “I’m just an artist from Ostwick. Whatever happened was just… well, like I’ve said, just me being in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
“Perhaps,” Cassandra replied, in a way that suggested she was pondering greater questions and their potential answers. Whatever those questions were, however, she did not say. “And yet you survived when all the others perished.”
“You are more,” said Cole suddenly. He had been silent for the entire proceeding, but now he looked up at Evvy intently. “You aren’t ‘just’ anything. Everyone can help, no matter how small.

For the past five years, on and off, I have been working on a fanfic combining two of my favorite things - the video game Dragon Age: Inquisition and the Studio Ghibli film Howl's Moving Castle.
I know I have told A LOT of people about this story over the years - from right here on Tumblr to a Discord server called The Write Moment that I used to be a part of. Basically, anyone who was willing to listen, I told about this idea.
Finally, the first few chapters are up! The story follows Evangeline Trevelyan, whose quiet life is disrupted when she goes to the Conclave and ends up with a strange mark on her hand. Soon she finds herself on an adventure featuring a dashing mage, a quiet former Templar, and a cast of colorful characters within a castle which, while stationary, is nevertheless quite impressive.
