“Me!” All the kids cried in time with one another and Nick joined in, taking a seat next to Harper and David and pulling plates out for everyone. “So does anyone want to take a guess at what our plans are for the day?” He asked, looking between the older three children.
“Are we going to Grandma and Grandpa’s?” Harper asked, bouncing in her chair.
“Are we having a party?” Erin questioned excitedly. Amelia dished out the pancakes onto the children’s plates and grinned.“Grandma and Grandpa are coming to see us today”

Ted had returned to the Ministry of Magic that day to collect his remaining items from the Daily Prophet. He was also going to announce he wouldn’t be coming back to write for the paper anymore. Being on the run, away from his family for so long, made Ted realize he needed to be with them now more than ever. Perhaps he’d pick up writing later on in the future, but for now, he simply wanted to enjoy his family and his new grandson.
Ted looked up and saw Amelia, making him smile and shift the weight of the baby in his arms. “Hello, Amelia,” he greeted her. “It’s been so long…” Ted shook his head. The war had distanced him from many people. It was safer that way, and when he had had left home to wander the countryside, he hadn’t been in contact with anyone except his wife. Teddy made a noise in his arms and Ted chuckled.
“Sorry, where are my manners? This is Teddy Lupin,” he said, beaming. “He’s my grandson.” Ted would never get tired of saying this.
“Far too long” Amelia smiled, the war separated many people and made it difficult to keep in touch with friends and acquaintances. Being an auror made it ever harder. Since the ending of the war Amelia had been trying to catch up with those she missed and was trying to have some kind of a social life.
Amelia smiled brightly at Ted, it wasn’t hard to tell he was loving his new role as a grandfather. “He’s just wonderful. How old is he?”

He loved watching all of his children, and he loved watching Amelia as she watched their children. They’d worked hard to build this happy little life that they had, and even though things were often hectic, he felt as though they’d found a comfortable rhythm for things. “Yes, David is one year old already!” Nick smiled, ruffling up the young boys hair as he placed him in his highchair.
“I love nana pancakes!” Harper cried happily, clapping her hands together.
It was hard to believe that David was already one year old. It seemed like only yesterday Erin was just a baby. They grew up too fast in her opinion. She smiled brightly as Harper happily declared her love of banana pancakes. This day was going to be perfect, she just knew it. “Who is ready to eat?”

Two years since she was appointed Minister, it had taken two years but finally the Dementors were gone from Azkaban. All those who had been aligned with the Death Eaters had their fair trials and were living out there sentences in a more humane Azkaban. The world was slowly getting back to it’s feet and moving on. She truly hoped this would be the last time they were at war with each other, wizarding Britain couldn’t handle another war. She went through the report on her desk for the hundredth time. She wanted to make sure she had every detail correct, each department was now getting the correct funding and she wanted to make sure that every department was getting what they needed. She didn’t bother looking up when someone knocked on her office door. She simply called for them to enter. “Can I help you?” she asked as they approached her desk without looking up.

Marlene smirked when she said that she would scare Fudge. “Sometimes a good scare is what people really need” she said innocently. She still thought that Nick or Frank would’ve been far better options than her, but she simply shrugged. “If you say so, boss” she said with a playful wink.
“Not Fudge. Unless you plan on paying him after scaring him it’s not worth the time” Amelia chuckled, “I do say so. You’ll do just fine. I know it”

Amelia felt proud the family was able to play host to an uneventful meeting at Avery Manor. No issues meant there was a chance her family would host another again shortly. They had been slowly earning the trust of the Dark Lord and he finally rewarded them for their hard work. The Averys believed they should be at his side instead of the Malfoy family. They were more cunning, witty and although they lacked the richest of the Malfoy family they had the same connections. Proving this was taking time but with every success they were itching closer and closer to his side. She turned to her brother, Alfred, who was sitting on her right “Mother will be pleased”, smiled proudly. She was finally beginning to show her mother just how worthy she was of the Avery name. Amelia spotted someone approaching them over Alfred’s shoulder and lent back into her chair. “Come to tell us we are better than the Malfoys? It’s the only possible way to improve our mood”
1979 | Coffee break | OPEN
Richard McKinnon was a busy man, as Head of the Auror Office, he was always having meetings, planning raids and going on raids. So now he was making time for his next meeting with some people from the Wizegamont’s Court.
He was on this small café in front of the Ministry, a half ended cup of black coffee in front of him and the Daily Prophet on his hands. He hated most of the things they published, they were all lies. He sighed tiredly as he read the headline.
Fortunately (or maybe unfortunately) he didn’t get to start reading the article since he felt that someone had approached to his table. It wasn’t uncommon, he was an approachable man, he always made time to listen to people’s concerns. After all, he was a public servant, it was his job.
“Can I help you?” He asked politely.
Amelia was at a loss with what to do. Her mother was increasing her pureblood supremacy preaching and she knew Alfie was involved in something but she wasn’t sure what exactly. She didn’t know what she could do but she knew someone she could ask for advice.
She didn’t want to talk to Richard at work about it. This wasn’t an official question, this was personal. Her father didn’t want her worrying about it so she couldn’t bring it up on one of their family lunches with the McKinnons so Amelia waited for the opportunity to talk to him alone.
She’d finally gotten at chance to sneak out and have her lunch break. She entered the small café and ordered her coffee. She looked around the café and spotted Richard sitting there beginning his paper. She nodded a thank you as the worker handed her coffee to her and she headed over to him.
“Do you have a minute? I..I need some advice”

Gerard smiled and gave a small nod. “That’s true. Well, I’m glad we don’t have to insult each other. It’s lame any way. My mum always said ‘if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all’, so you know. Good words to live by.” He beamed happily.
His parents had never been cruel to him, he doubted that even his parents wouldn’t send a Howler, it was just mean. “Hey, it’s in the past. Don’t worry about it. You want to go find a classroom?” He asked, getting to his feet.
“That’s what my father says! Mother wouldn’t say anything like that. She thinks she’s better than everyone” Amelia explained, she liked the sound of his mother. She sounded much nicer than her own.
“Okay. Sure” Amelia said and stood up from the chair. “I’ll just place this on my bed. I’ll be right back” She didn’t wait for him to reply, she spun round her heals and quickly jogged off to her room. She throw her book on her bed and jogged back to Gerard. “Okay. Now I’m ready”

“Ah, I see. We’ve never had a puff in the family. Well, a Hufflepuff, we have Tiberius of course.” He chuckled at his crude joke. Bob loved his brother but his sexuality was always something that made him feel slightly uncomfortable. It was hardly the normal… He often wondered if perhaps he would just stick to girls eventually.
Bob decided on a new drink and ordered a tall pint of Ironbelly Beer. Once it arrived he took a drink before nodding. “Yeah, good. I think. Better than he has been. Not as good as he could be… He’ll sort himself out.” He said quietly. The alcoholism was painful and had made Bob resent his brother but he still had faith in him.
Bob chuckled and gave a small nod. “True, true. They’re all right lads off the pitch too. Myself and McRobbie often meet up to talk about things, you know, brooms and stuff.” He said rather vaguely. When she declined his offer, he waved it off but drank more from his beer. “You work for the Ministry, right?”
Amelia bit her lip and turned her head away from Bob slightly. She didn’t think the joke was funny but wasn’t in any mood to start arguments. “That’s good then. I’m really happy to hear he is doing better” She smiled and order herself some butterbeer. No more drinking for her tonight.
“Are they? I’ve never met any quidditch stars other than you and Mark.” She didn’t get out enough to meet anyone that was associated with her family or work. “I do. I work for the DMLE”

“He thinks he’s funny” Amelia commented to the person standing across the table from her as Henry quickly tied a helium balloon to Amelia’s wrist before running off. She couldn’t believe how many people her step mother managed to get to attend her 30th birthday party. She didn’t really want one but she insisted. “He thinks I might get lost in the crowd or sneak off when no one is looking”

I just can’t get away” she laughed, keeping an eye out as Holly wandered off her lap and into the living room to play with her toys. “Kindness, always a good feature to have in a partner. See, you do know what you’re looking for. Now we just have to find someone. Shouldn’t be too difficult, you’re a stunner”
“Seems like you have a type that you like to hang around with. Dangerous and tired” Amelia joked, “It’s going to be harder than you think. Why would anyone possibly date me? I’m practically married to my work.”
