Travel Musings & Packing Essentials
Everyone loves travelling, whether it’s a road trip to another state or an international flight. It satisfies your craving for adventure and wanderlust, just for a while.
Things like skin color, language and religion separate us less than we think. No matter where you go in the world, people still strive for the same things: to care for their families, be successful, to be happy. At the end of the day our dreams and goals are not that different.
I recently booked a flight to go to New Zealand for the millionth time in February, so I’m writing this for me as much as I am for you. I’ll try to keep this ‘weather neutral’ as much as possible.
These are my basics for washing time, what are yours?
Toothbrush and toothpaste
Razor (I almost always forget this one)
Small towel (you never know)
Try to invest in some sort of travel sized products or containers to put all your gels and lotions into to maximize your suitcase space (make sure you check the airline guidelines for carrying liquids).
Now, this all depends on whether or not you wear makeup and how much of it you wear. Tailor it to your needs.
Eye shadow (I recommend investing in an interchangeable palette, so you can bring all the shadows you want, without all the weight)
Lip balm/chap stick (life savers)
Gotta keep them locks looking silky smooth and ready to be touched.
Heat styling tools (straightener/curler)
Bobby pins (hold onto these as if your life depends on it)
I recommend bringing at least one of these items along with you, for a happy, comfortable and stylish vacation. Try keeping these things on a neutral colour palette so they can be paired with everything.
Underwear and socks/stockings (obviously)
Camis (ideal for layering)
Track pants/workout pants (for those lazy days)
Family want to go for dinner at a fancy restaurant, friends want to go out on the town? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered.
Time to spice up those outfits!
Comfort and style? Me-oh-my, this is going to be difficult.
Slip on shoes (perfect for going through security)
Boots (doc martens or chelsea boots)
Boredom will not take me down!
Large comfortable bag (backpack/handbag)
Travel documents (passport/ticket/registration)
Phone/tablet/iPod (we need music)
Reading material (magazines/books)
Notebook (start a travel journal)
These things can seriously mean life or death.
Electronics (phone/laptop/chargers)
Power point adapters (this depends on where you’re going)
Extra suitcase/bag (you can come back with more than you brought with you)
Remember: getting lost can sometimes be a blessing!
