Nesta and Elain are literally two sides of the same coin

I was listening to Exit by Conan Gray and I realised how it's so acotar coded. ESPECIALLY for Nesta and Elain.

Take a look:

"feels like we had matching wounds" - Them both being traumatised after the cauldron.

"But mine's still black and bruised and" - Elain 100% still has a lot internal pain and conflict. Especially with loosing her fiance. And I just know her visions scare her still.

"Yours is perfectly fine" - Elain watching Nesta settle with her mate and finding the Valkyries and working on herself.

"Feels like we buried alive something that never died" - Nesta struggling with their father's death. And her own trauma from everything post cauldron. Also her watching Elain join the IC and growing closer to Feyre and "healing". I feel like she was silently mourning the bond she and Elain had.

"So gosh, it hurt when I found out." - Nesta was and still is carrying a lot of guilt ; she feels like she failed Feyre and then post caulron, felt like she failed Elain too. In the end of ACOSF Nesta said how she hopes to become worthy of her family's love and forgiveness. For me that indicates that she's still not okay. She blames herself for a lot and the IC's treatment of her in HOFAS is only adding to it. This also reminds me of when she found out they were keeping HER powers a secret from her.

I could go on and on about how these girls' stories are linked to the song lyrics but that's just a bit of how I think it's connected. The lyrics could even be turned vise versa for them and it would still be accurate to both their sides. They both have gone and are still going through a lot.

This song is so fitting for the IC, the Valkyries AND The Band Of Exiles.

Gwyn bared her teeth. "I refuse to leave you here."

Emerie's pained face told Nesta enough: she understood. Saw the logic.

Nesta said to Gwyn, "It is the only way."

Gwyn screamed, "IT IS NOT THE ONLY WAY!" And then she was sobbing. "I will not abandon you to them. They will kill you."

"You need to go," Nesta said, even as her hands began shaking. "Now."

"No," Gwyn wept. "No, I won't. I'll face it with you."

Okay but imagine the first time Gwyn leaves the library to voluntarily go into the general public and it’s for Nesta’s mating ceremony and she sees Az who is wearing the other half of her ribbon as his bow tie because she had told him she wouldn’t be able to come, and and they just make eye contact and stare…

But Azriel was recruited by Nesta to sing for the ceremony because Gwyn TOTALLY told Nesta he sings when Nesta was trying to figure out and you know him being both Nesta and Cassian’s best friend, he’s going to be part of the ceremony.

So he can’t go talk to her or try to hide it or anything and the male so used to being in the shadows is NOT accustomed to being in front of everyone’s attention, but he’s used to masking, so he just acts normal but Gwyn notices his shadows going crazy and when they see her, they settle.

Following my previous post, what if the Valkyries (nesta, em and gwyn) came back to the night court because they're desperately needed so they agree to come back, buuuuut on the condition that it's only until after they defeat koschei!!

Imagine

Nesta is on the balcony of the HoW, staring down at velaris when Azriel approaches. 'It's good to be home?" he says softly. Nesta, voice dripping with hurt and distaste replies "This isn't my home." The two stay watching the city in silence. "Where is home" Azriel asks gently. Nesta turns to look through the glass doors of the balcony into the dining room. Azriel and Nesta both watch Emerie and Gwyn bicker about a random smut novel, the house's welcome present for the trio. Azriel's low sigh is the only sign of his understanding.

So it randomly occurred to me today that maybe I love Gwyneth Berdara so much is because she reminds me of my other bookish warrior, Violet Sorrengail!!!!!! I mean they're booth supeeeer smart, supeeeeeeeer pretty, very good with daggers, thought their fate lies with tombs (still might), can translate multiple languages, can charm anyone and are overall just the most iconic female book characters of all time! I don't care what anyone says, they'd be the best of friends in my mind!! <3
