     ”…Say again?” Golden orbs widen as she blinks a couple of times to catch a drift of what he was saying. “I haven’t paid for anything.”

     ”You… Kinda just…” Man. She should not be pissed in the least over this. “Said you didn’t… Ah…” There’s a scratch of the head, befor a rub of the neck, and then an awkward dismissive gesture. “…That you didn’t want me. But that’s fine, I mean, you could have just said so. I would’ve left.” Yes. That’s perfect. Defect with anger. “Jeez.”

"Hey, I didn't..." An exasperated sigh escaped from his mouth, chest compressing in as the air left his lungs. "I didn't mean it like that. After all, I'm Greed." Sinister grin flickered across his features for just a few seconds. "I want everything, remember? Just... I mean, how would you have reacted if I had said I wanted you too?" He leaned back preemptively, just in case, almost as if he was reflexively trying to avoid being hit.

     ”…Say again?” Golden orbs widen as she blinks a couple of times to catch a drift of what he was saying. “I haven’t paid for anything.”

     ”…Yeah, you kinda just—…” Wait. Why is she taking offense? Shouldn’t she be glad that she’s the only thing Ling doesn’t want? Yeah! Be proud, Lyn! Yet there’s something in the back of her mind preventing her from being proud. This conversation was just getting worse and worse. Kicking her foot against the floor, she found it was much more interesting than Ling at the moment.

"... I just--?" Curse his curiousity. You can't just leave a sentence hanging like that. It's like feeding a duck bread, but taking it away before it can actually take it. Cruel and unusual punishment. Especially for someone who was now the living embodiment of greed itself. Oh dear, this conversation was not heading in a good direction, things were getting very uncomfortable, even for the male who frequently enjoyed tormenting others with silly psychological games.

     ”…Yeah.” Well, this took a turn for the awkward. And it was her fault for being bad at cracking jokes. Averting her gaze, the goldenette cleared her throat nervously, hands going to her hips. “…I-I’m going to take slight offense to that, but… Thank you?”

"Sure, no problem. ... wait, offense?" The words took a moment to register with his thought process. Was she indicating she took offense that out of all his inner greed and desire to obtain everything, he had stated she was one thing he didn't w--...oh. On second thought, that did sound rather offensive, didn't it? Perhaps he should correct that. But then again, if he just says 'oh wait no I do want you it's just--' ... Yeah, maybe it's just better to leave this alone, actually.

     ”I WASN’T SERIOUS," She snaps, and if looks could kill, Ling would be decapitated and his arms and legs would be cut up into tiny pieces. Now, Edlyn was afraid he was actually debating it. And if she was she’d go jump off of a cliff. "IT WAS A JOKE.”

"Oh, good. That's good to know." He had began to consider it a little. After all, an alchemist as talented and resourceful as her could likely produce some wonderful heirs. Then again, she could also produce some wonderful bruises, so that wasn't something he'd dare say out loud, even as a joke. "I might be greedy, but I think there's some things I'm willing to not have."

     ”…I sincerely hope this isn’t your way of proposing to me, because, fuck all, I’m not ready to get married yet.” It was sad to lighten the mood but she’s afraid she came off serious by the way she said it. There’s something in the back of her mind telling her, ‘don’t creep him out, Edlyn’, but on the other hand she could care less if she does. They aren’t close enough for the young alchemist to be watching her words.

"Whoa! Wait a second-- you didn't really think that, did you? I mean, don't get me wrong, it'd be convenient having an alchemist around when I'm Emperor, but you know I have my eye on someone else."

Sure, the blonde was pretty attractive, in a cute 'aw look at the little girl trying to pretend she's all grown up' kind of way. And she was pretty powerful and inventive, at that. But really, proposing? That's not something he even considered before. ... before.

     ”Glad to hear it,” Was the girl’s reply as she brought her shirt farther down just to have something to do with both her hands. There was a huge love-hate relationship between the two of them, but could she ever fully hate him? No. Could she ever fully love him? Eh. It depends on what day of the week we’re talking about here.

     ”Stop it,” She demanded. “Not around me, bitch.”

He raised an eyebrow curiously, eyes still appearing as though they were closed. It wasn't necessarily out of character for the girl to be understanding or nice to him, but friendly was something he was still not acclimated to. In fact, he wasn't truly sure if she and him would be called friends just yet, although he sincerely hoped so.

"Hah? Sorry, I didn't mean to doubt you. If anyone could ensure success, it'd be you, huh?"

     ”It’s not. Happening. Again.” She tried to sound as threatening as possible, hand balling into a fist as her foot tapped against the floor as if to assert this statement even more.

     Shoulder dug into the Xingese prince’s side as she nudged him. “You know, in my experience, it’s easier not to think shit in the way you’re thinkin’ ‘bout shit. Just sayin’.”

"Alright, alright. It won't happen again." He grinned, knowing the girl could pack quite a punch. Especially with her right arm, God knows that fist hurt dearly when it cracked up against his skull. He might enjoy teasing her and taking advantage of her hospitality, but he wasn't going to risk death.

He nodded slowly, the smile on his face still staying intact. He knew she was right, but he still couldn't help but fret about some things nevertheless. "Yeah, just... sometimes I wonder if all of this is worth it. It's hard not to think that way."

Envy’s eyes widened when it saw the symbol, knowing full well what it was and what it denoted. It almost smiled - eternal life, indeed! The homunculus refused to believe any human, no matter how insane, had ever succeeded in creating an immortal being. It simply was not - could not - be possible. Envy itself bore no such marking, but then it did not need it, and, presumably, its creator had been of the same opinion. It wondered what the mark’s purpose was, but decided to ask later.

Envy was, however, fascinated by the idea of a homunculus being contained in a human body. Its essence, it’s soul? Was there such a thing? It began to feel uneasy. Had alchemists progressed to the point of artificially creating a soul? And then inserting it into human bodies? A rather nasty thought - but then, its own creation was not comprised of sunshine and flowers by any means.

Was there such a thing as a soul in the first place? It did not know, but it was keen to find out.

"I see. I go by the human name of ‘Lenz’ among humans - though I also gave myself the name of ‘Envy’, after…certain incidents in the past." It smiled. "I look forward to discovering our similarities and differences, of which I am sure there are many. Which begs the question, if you don’t mind me asking - how old are you?"

His expression was smug, showing a surprising hint of pride in his status as not just a homunculus, but in a sense, also as a human at the same time. It was a complex relationship, having two souls in one container, but it actually paid off quite well given the benefits each one had provided. Besides, greedy as he was, he wouldn't dare give up either one.

He was quite intrigued by the other's curiousity though. Had he not encountered other homunculi before, or was it simply an interest extended towards himself in specific? This was something he would have to ask, just for the sake of knowing, even if he didn't care what the answer was.

"Ah, right. My host here, his name's Ling Yao. Guess I should have mentioned that too, yeah?" He shrugged his shoulders slightly, not really thinking it was that important, but he decided to mention it anyway. Then came the age question. Well, that was a difficult one to answer. "Ling here's 18. I'm probably around 200 years old myself, although I've only been part of this kid for a couple years. Somethin' like that, anyways."

This city was unfamiliar. At first glance, one could easily understand how it looked like Amestris at a superficial level, but when exploring the streets, it was noticeably easy to get lost -- especially considering the cities had such vast, open spaces between them, and remarkably high walls that appeared to be made out of concrete, or some other reinforced stone.

As hungry as he was, and given the circumstances in which he was monetarily, he was beginning to lose hope, as he often did. However, upon spotting a blonde -- which was a familiar sight to him -- he quickly rushed over to them, gently grabbing at their waist before dropping to a pleading position on their knees.

"Please! You're from here, yes? Can you help me find my way to some place I can get something to eat?"

That's no problem at all. I'm currently watching the anime all over again so I might have some occasional lapses in activity too.

"Exactly. You pick a side based on your morals an ideals," she repeated. She actually had to let it sink in before realizing Ling hadn’t even answered the question. "So which side are you, heads or tails?"

He wasn't entirely sure what the question was getting at, or really which side was associated with what due to the ambiguous nature of the choices themselves. Rather than trying to make any sense of, though, he just went with an answer: "Tails? I'm not sure what you're getting at."

"Yeah, though he can turn into a Titan." The female chirped happily before he questioned her get again. "Yeah that is what it does. It is an amazing system and i love how it works…It gets us aways from those Titans and even though it is bulky it is pretty light weightish…or so i think, then again we went through physical training and stuff so they wont be heavy."

He was still trying to wrap his head around the device, and the titans -- but one thing made sense to him. If the titans were so large, surely they couldn't get into narrow spaces. So why hadn't humanity decide to try to live underground, or at least have some sort of fallback plan like that?
