Introduction

Hello everyone & em hotep to my fellow Kemets! I am Vera & welcome to @avenetjer! This is my brand new witchy & spiritual blog. I’ll be following from my main: @jubilatrix.

Divination (of all kinds! I mainly use tarot, oracle, & my clairsenses. Definitely have tried many other things like scrying, psychometry, etc.)

Deity worship. I am currently focusing on Kemeticism.

Note: I use a ton of UPG/personal methods & will be labelling & documenting them here on this tumblr. Please do not take my approaches as The One True Way! I will never push my methods onto anyone, it always gladden my heart to see each & every practitioners do what is right for them :]

You Only Have To Look

The Gods never left us.

Ra is the prickle in the skin of the reveller on a sun-kissed day, warming them inside and out.

Set is the roaring in the heart of every rioter, whose eyes are opened by the unrelenting fire He burns in their belly.

Thoth is the yearning for knowledge that drives the academic to follow their dreams, pushing them to greater heights.

Sobek is the promise of self-confidence, beckoning the shy ones from their shells, His hand guiding them to being their best selves.

Nut is the unspoken connection between lovers as they sit beneath star-spangled sky, Her embrace lulling them closer.

Sekhmet is the guttural roar in the throat of the blood-soaked warrior who defends what is rightfully theirs, fearsome and strong.

Geb is the whistle in the wind that rustles the hair of the gardener who plows His land and enjoys the spoils of His soil.

Hathor is the maternal love between newborn and parent, Her lips the gentle kisses full of tearful joy that make life so precious.

Ma'at is the courage that spurs the journalist to give justice to those who are otherwise denied, and to expose isfet without fear when they see it.

Anubis is the urge to protect those who are dearest, and to guide them to a life of grace and blessings.

They say the Gods are gone, forgotten, and a world away.

But they are here; you only have to look for them.

I had Mehit come forward for you, alongside the four of Pentacles. She appears in a full lionoid form, wearing the Atef crown.

"Be at peace, be at peace, be at peace. What brings you worry, child? What causes your stress? There is not worry to be had, for you are meant to be merry. Take your ka and feed it. Hold it close and allow it to grow without worry or fear!"

The four of Pentacles mimics this message, with more to add:

"You are still in your youth! Do not allow yourself to become overworked or overburdened. Work diligently without stress, and know your efforts are not in vain. Everything will happen as it should."

Blue Lotus Shining

Among the sentences which the Nile spoke of

was the mention of your petals: soft & fragrant

bathed in suspended grace that drowns our dark soils with the rain too.

Sobek surrounded you,

Djehuty too, who pecked & picked.

The shadow of Your son on the ground,

in the noon of Your husband.

A Queen with a crown of vulture,

with arms so wondrous, you'll fly if you want to:

road-opener, magic-weaver,

clever, clever.

And thus the Blue Lotus

who reversed the scorpion's poison

a medicine to raging Sekhmet.

Spread tonight in the fabrics of Nut:

toiling, fighting, speaking,

willing the Dead to Live.

So speaks the Lotus,

with such wile

that Love triumphs over Death.

That no matter how many times

it is torn & scattered apart,

it is whole & shining once more.

Blue Lotus,

who knows all the names of all magic

(which, strangely, sounds like our names too)

And among the flames of your nectar are our faces

In our homes & hearths

Let us celebrate you, Blue Lotus,

Clever One, Priestess,

who know the Names & who know ours too.

By the lantern light, here are our food & our incenses.

Here are our waters, here are our gifts.

Here is what we come up with, here is our toil.

Sekhmet: A Kiddie's(?) Prayer

Lady of Red, daughter of Ra.

My thanks to you for my good health.

You held my hand as I put one foot after the other when I was ill.

You gave steady hands & good counsels on the ones who heal me.

You watched my back especially when I was unaware.

You defeated the terror & the evil I could not slay on my own. You pierced them with seven arrows.

You offered me respite when the climb is hard.

You put courage in my heart.

You put joy & merriment there too.

You defended me when I was vulnerable & scared.

(You taught me to do the same too, to those who need it.)

You reminded me to do the right thing when it was easy not to.

Please accept my Love. Please accept my awe & my admiration for you.

Please accept my gratitude for you!

May You continue to be my friend.

May You continue to look after the world, especially the ill & the scared.

May I make You proud.

The skin of Hethert is covered in spotless clouds the color of bones. Not a single breath of Shu travels, not even one lifts up the wings of birds.

There is no shadow upon the will of the solar disk, shining above us.

Yet thunder rolls... & we cannot catch neither its head nor tail.

A white-gold day for Set-Ra, the heat that loosens.

My praises to you, O Light of Life, Strongest of All Lights. Dazzling & mighty.

Who seeks out every corners that are dark & full of terrors; who pierce through each with unflinching brilliance.

Strong One whose voice I heard from within the sandstorms of my mind, I call to you.

Mighty One who stands at the front of the barque as I row & row towards the light, I praise you.

May I remember You in the faces of strangers whom others so easily shun & misunderstood. May I remember You as I wander & leave what is familiar.

May I remember You in the stretch & the scrapes of falling on unexplored terrains.

(May I remember Your un-judging offer of hand; the counsel that yes, the desert tends to do that.)

But may I also remember the ease in swinging staffs & the power coursing through veins, Strongest of Gods. May I remember the amusement & the joy, even, in taking life with a stride. The laugh that turns frowns upside down.

Child, a single drop of dew fell upon your face.

It is fragrant with the scent of flowers.

The sun glitters above the body of Hapi while you play.

In your eyes are the light of youth, the perfection of the world for someone in their morn. How new, how exciting.

But even gods grow up: You become the lion in the borders where no flowers grow.

To Meskhenet

O Meskhenet, who abided with me in the hour where I drew my first breath.

Sweet Meskhenet, who held my fragile body in Her hands.

Brave Meskhenet, who knew the labor of bringing something to Life, who knew the labor of staying alive. Who will not give up on me.

(Most Fierce Meskhenet, for when my will for Life was as embers, She was there to shield it from the cutting wind. She said, now push!)

Wise, far-seeing Meskhenet, who gazes at my eyes & see how it all will end.

Who, despite, holds my hand still.

I pray to remember the brilliance of the fire that consummately told me to live. To fight for the life & the world I wish to see.

I pray to hear Your sweet voice that proclaimed my Fate when my heart is on the scales.

I pray that You may attest my story with pride.

May I remember you in gratitude: when I am a star among the deep blue of Nut, may my gaze be kindly. For I learned it from She with cradling arms, flyaway hairs & dark circles of a long night. A life-saving wit & the tender pride of new & loving parents.

Hymn to Wepwawet

To Wepwawet, Opener of the Ways, I offer my praise. O great god who stands at the fore of the sun-barque, watchful and wary one, first to set foot on hostile ground, first to go forth into battle, warder of the standard-bearer, companion of kings, bearer of the cudgel and the shaft, piercer of flesh, crusher of bone, you walk with the seeker and the wanderer, you follow the unseen path, you unlatch the hidden door. Well honored you were in Asyut, city of wolves, O Wepwawet of the keen eye and the sharp tooth; well known you are by those who seize the gifts of life, the joy and the sorrow, the flood and the drought, the chance firmly taken, the risk understood. Yours are those who search, within and without; yours are those who strive and fail, who strive and succeed, who look beyond the garden wall into the wilderness beyond. Teach me to stand firm-rooted, to bend with the wind; grant to me your wisdom and your grace.
