Pink Butterfly Migration is a blog dedicated to my thoughts on gender, especially in relationship to being female. A diary of my thoughts. Class, race, and disability may also be mentioned but it is not the focus.

Here's a little bit about me:

Am I a radfem? Not sure. I agree with most of the things they say regarding sex oppression, and ideals about being pro abortion, anti pornagraphy, anti prostitution, etc. I question my stance on the idea of "transgender," not because I think gender is innate and that female = woman and man = male, but because I think gender ISN'T innate. In fact, I don't even think I believe in it as a natural, biological/psychological concept. I guess "gender critical" is a good way to describe me. I'm still learning about radical feminism, and because I take feminism as a movement seriously, I'm not going to just slap the label onto myself because of surface level agreement.

I'm same sex attracted (bi but uninterested in men), in my 20s, and I was involved in the wider queer movement and queer ideology for about a decade, becoming involved as a child. I am interested in the gender critical and wider LGB movement and learning more, and documenting my thoughts along the way.

I'm looking to learn from everyone, especially other female people, women, and also other transmascs (as I identified that way for a few years) but anyone is welcome to have discussions with me or give their input. On the topic, I should put emphasis on DISCUSSION. If you use slurs towards me, use personal insults, intentionally argue in bad faith in a way that is obvious, or anything else stupid I'm gonna delete your comment and block you. If you do that to someone in my replies under my posts, I may or may not do that depending on the severity and if I think the person on the other end would want that. It's up to my feelings in that moment.

Anons are on, submissions welcome. Stories and anecdotes, sources, corrections, etc are welcome. Anon hate that's thoughtless will be immediately deleted, but if you seem genuinely curious I'll be more than happy to engage :)

For a start, studies have shown that men have a higher self esteem than women worldwide.

Secondly, men don't know what terror is. "Terror" is not what you feel when you're nervous about a woman not being interested in sleeping with you. Terror is what you feel when you're a child bride on your first night with your paedophilic husband. Terror is when your father, uncle and brothers discuss murdering you because you've "dishonored" the family. Terror is when your boyfriend puts his hand around your neck because you threatened to leave him. Terror is when a man follows you home after you refused to answer his "hello what's your name can I have your number do you live nearby?" Ironically, terror is what women often feel when they reject men.

So here we have another case of men trying to discuss human psychology but being too self involved and misogynistic to make any sense.

When men say “women have it so much easier, they can get any man they want”, what they’re doing is this:

They’re thinking only of women they find attractive. When they say this - they don’t factor in women they find ugly. They don’t even see as people, they don’t even remember exist.

Because they only actually see women they find attractive, women they’d date if they asked, they get this idea that -all- women could get any man they wanted - because the only women that actually exist to them are ones they’d get with.

i'm tired of this weird dichotomy in people's worldview - you're either an absolutely inclusive individual, uncritically absorbing every rule and information that's currently *in*, or you're a seething conservative, unable to think and feel, basically a second mengele in modern clothes, if you voice even the slightest concern with what's happening culturally and socially

I've seen this account going around on Instagram this person is legitimately fucking deranged. Multiple mental illnesses listed in bio, a post literally word for word saying "I exist in a body that was made to be raped," and a bunch of shit basically saying "well if women looked more like men there'd be less sexism."

I hate that the actually very good notion that we should show trans people the basic respect everyone deserves and not let them be discriminated against has just completely snowballed into pretending that men can be women and that straight people can be gay

Trans people deserve the same healthcare as everyone else and the autonomy to choose cosmetic surgery/hrt on top of that with informed consent if they are in a position to be able to receive informed consent. Trans people deserve to be treated humanely in day to day life and not be constantly asked invasive questions by strangers. Trans people deserve to be able to play sports, albeit not on teams specifically designed for the sex they do not belong to. They are people. And none of that changes the fact that you cannot change your sex which is the basis of people's sexuality. I wish more people understood that all of the above beliefs can and do and should coexist.

One of my favorite research projects I ever did for school was the effect of single-sex education on children. I’ll tell you why.

My initial research (mostly news articles) all said that there’s no benefit to sex-segregated education. They acknowledged outliers like that school for young black men with such incredible graduation statistics, but said that, generally, there’s no benefit.

But then I kept looking. And it turns out that yeah, if you look at all children overall, there’s no benefit - because sex-segregated education is great for girls, and terrible for boys.

Girls in all-girl schools get better grades, have closer and healthier social lives, and have better mental health.

Boys in all-boy schools get worse grades and get in trouble more.

When attempting to make sense of this, journalists and researchers usually fall back on “girls do better because they’re not distracted by boys/boy drama, and boys do worse because there’s no girls to impress.”

Which is ridiculous, of course, because these effects are seen even grade school - 8 year old boys are not doing well in school to impress girls. It’s also ridiculous because teenage boys are also not doing well in school to impress girls. That’s not how teenagers work.

The answer is obvious to women. Girls learn better away from boys because they are not being assaulted, harassed, belittled, or compared to their male peers at every turn. Boys do worse away from girls because, without a socially acceptable target, they turn their antisocial urges on each other. Even adult men do this when separated from women - see hazing scandals at fraternities, or the constant man-on-man sexual harassment that is just “part of military culture.”

But because it doesn’t benefit men, sex-segregated education is considered pointless. Send your daughters to girls-only schools.

Lmfao @ @transparentcomputerdragon-blog in the notes doing the same thing those initial researchers did. Complaining about how it’ll hurt boys and therefore benefiting girls isn’t worth it. They believe that certain girls are needed to be victims of assault and harassment for boys to succeed.
