questionnaire
how are you feeling? physically and mentally.
“physically, pretty fantastic. my body has aged more in the last ten years than i thought. i didn’t take advantage of my youth, clearly,” he said with a grin, purposefully ignoring the question about his mental state. he also decided against commenting on the state of his heart. hopefully he wouldn’t have to undergo that operation again.
where are you living? the same place you lived in 2012, or displaced to a random apartment? explain to the best of your ability.
“same place, avengers tower. that certainly makes things easier. though i’m on like, mark six. i mean, i have my suit, but just the one now. it’s a real bitch.”
what do YOU think we should do about the situation at hand? try to go back home? the original mission of stopping thanos? rewrite the entire story?
“rewrite the story?” he asked, letting out a laugh. “you can’t rewrite the fucking story. have you seen how poorly this alone has gone? we’ll be lucky if we can fix what we’ve fucked up here, let alone if we can even fix the initial thanos blip problem. rewrite the story. yeah, we need to get back home. obviously. it’s literally not even a question.”
what will you DO about the situation at hand?
“all the research and experiments i can. we need to lay low while we work on it. but if we can’t fix it, if we can’t get back to our time? i don’t know. there are so many things we could do better now, but i don’t know that it will make a difference. we’ll just create a new timeline, and if we get back to ours, it’ll be the same as it was. though i suppose a new timeline having a better existence counts for something.”
is there anything that you think needs to be done?
“there’s a ton that needs to be done. we need to figure out how the fuck this happened, what we did wrong, where we went wrong, what’s happened to the versions of ourselves that were living here. there are villains who now know way more than they should have, and people who were dead who aren’t, and people who were born that don’t exist now. there is no resting here. we owe a lot to a lot of people.”
if need be, would you be willing to team up with the government and SHIELD to recoup and help the situation at hand?
“for starters, i don’t really work with the government if i can so help it. second, shield is hydra, so, yeah, not in a hurry to work with them. fury? sure. coulson? wait, is he dead yet? i don’t know. but i’d work with him. obviously barton and romanoff are trustworthy. but no, i’m not working with shield for anything.
what are your worries?
he took a drink of his coffee and raised both eyebrows. what wasn’t there to worry about? “messing with the fabric of time and space, tearing a whole in the possible multiverse, not reversing thanos’ snap, not getting back to my daughter, getting stuck in this time and still not being able to do better even though i know exactly what is going to happen. and how to stop it. hurting more people. the list goes on.”
what do you think are the pros about this situation?
“there are no pros to this situation. if we get stuck here, maybe we can help some people. but there are no pros to this.”
anything else?
“better be ready to get to work.”

( oscar isaac. he/him. cis male. 41. marvel. ) would you look at tony stark name roaming around the avenger’s tower! they’re supposedly iron man and work with the avengers, identifying as a hero. they are around here often, so i wonder what’s got them here today. it’s been said that they’ve been acting off for four months, so maybe it has to do with the tower. lets just hope the new york times doesn’t have much to say about them in the future.
“I’ll break out the pink suit just for you, dude.” Sam chuckles a little at the thought, knowing it would turn some heads with how bright the shade is under fluorescent lights. He doesn’t ever mind being the center of attention, having the confidence to enjoy it when the opportunity presents itself. Which isn’t often but regardless, he’ll be prepared next time a party is hosted at the tower. He begins to laugh when thinking about what Clint is wearing again. He can’t look at him or the laughter will just keep going. “He’s technically dressed according to dress code so what would your excuse be for kicking him out?”
tony grinned at that and nodded. “i can’t wait,” he said honestly. he was very excited to see sam strutting around the tower with the pink suit. it would be a sight to behold. he shrugged, letting out a laugh. “he’s annoying me. that’s reason enough, isn’t it?” he said, taking a sip of his drink. did he need a real reason to kick anyone out of his home? not that he’d actually kick clint out. “he’s an eyesore, that’s all.”
‘ have you ever seen her off of her phone ? ’ cindy asks curiously , head tilting to the side . ‘ or tried to hide her phone before she can even get to it ? ’ maybe she’ll try that next - if it doesn’t get her fired , that is . ‘ i guess . things are pretty whacky right now . ’ supreme word choice cindy , really . ‘ maybe when we get back to 2021 you guys can go on a joint vacation ? ’
“sure have,” tony said flatly. “oh no, we have rules in our house. if i want or need her attention, i just ask for it. she does the same,” he explained. he would never hide her phone from her. well, not since the one time he did. it didn’t end well for him. “when we get back to the future, i think it’s safe to say we’ll be taking a family vacation. you can come, too, i’m sure.”
shock is written on jeans features as he asks who she is, and it almost angers her that he doesn’t know who she is. angered that he’s unaware of everything that had happened between his team and hers. but, she’s quick to hide it, the mutant leveling herself out as she’s handed her drink by the bartender. it doesn’t take jean long to realize she’s speaking with a tony from an entirely different universe than hers, thus making everything even more complicated than it was. “jean.” she simply states, pausing for a moment. “jean grey.” she doesn’t know if he’ll recognize it, and truthfully, the redhead doesn’t need him too. she’s better off if the avengers didn’t know who the x-men are, but she’s aware they need their help. “considering i found you in a random bar in the streets of new york, and we’re not where we’re supposed to be, i think we both have plenty of free time.” is all she says. “i’ll tell you about them after you tell me why we ended up here.”
it was obvious his words upset her. why, exactly, he couldn’t be sure. maybe he should have known her. was he missing something obvious? he scanned through his brain again, and while he was never good with names and faces, he wasn’t this bad either. he really was quite sure he didn’t know her. “tony stark, but you knew that,” tony returned, reaching his hand out to shake hers. “oh, on the contrary, drinking is part of my regularly scheduled program and not an indicator of my free time,” he said, turning to look at her before turning back to his drink. “i don’t really know. we traveled back in time to retrieve the infinity stones so we could undo what thanos did, but once he we got here we were in our old bodies, our old lives. haven’t gotten past that.”
‘ us losing isn’t your fault , mr. stark . ’ peter felt like tony needed to be told that , he didn’t want tony to always blame himself even after they make it home . ‘ i still can’t believe you guys figured it out and i wasn’t there for it . super jealous . time travel - wow . i really can’t believe it . we’ll figure it out , mr. stark , we’ll make it home . but i mean this place isn’t that bad for the time being . ’
“it is. but we’ll fix it still,” he said simply. he wasn’t getting into this all over again. “i know. you really missed out, kid. i mean, you are here. so you sort of get to be part of the whole time travel thing. yeah, we have to. we have to do something to fix this mess, one way or another. it’s not. but it won’t work long term, either.” tony paused for a moment. “i’m really glad you’re okay.”
jubilee raises their brows up in amusement . press ? no offense to the avengers or anything , but are they not aware of other superhero teams aside from their own . “ what a perfectly appropriate thing to say to the press , ” they simper . “ fortunately for you , mr. stark . i’m not the press . ”
tony let out a soft laugh, taking another drink. “it is a perfectly appropriate thing to say,” he said, growing irritated with this conversation already. “what? a fan? want an autograph? a critic? want to sue me? you’ll have to contact my lawyer, then.”
looks up , almost breaking into a smile . ‘ you’re … kidding , i hope . ’ if she could make the man look at the world around them , take in every single thing on this earth . ‘ there’s not much for me here . ’ and she’ll leave it at that for now . lorna raises a brow , looking towards him . ‘ mister tony stark - have you ever heard of something called mutants ? ’
he shrugged a shoulder. “the world can surprise you,” he said simply. him being hopeful right now of all times is funny but there was a time he felt hopeless, and it turned out there was a lot more to live for than he knew. “no, i can’t say i have.”
‘ it’s the fate of the world as you know it ending … blah … blah … blah . ’ and if daisy was SKYE , she would ask why he didn’t just get used to it . she knows better now , she’s grown . ‘ if everything worked out as planned , i wouldn’t have 20 million scars to show off during sexy time . ’ a bit of a joke , but also she hopes it helps . daisy shrugs , throwing her hands in the air . ‘ trust issues ? sorry , sorry . sooooo … do i get a key or what . ’ a pause . ‘ what was your guys’ main goal here ? ’
“as if that hasn’t happened before,” he said. they just adjusted. they always adjusted. he especially. tony offers her a small grin. “try sexy time with an arc reactor keeping your heart going. makes the hands over the chest a lot less smooth,” he teased back. “get in line, kid. it’s more of an identification system. hand print, eye scan, vocal recognition,” he explained. “get the stones, go back to the present, use our own gauntlet, bring back the snapped. but we got stuck here. not before natasha could die, though. so that was unfortunate. and i don’t think they even were able to bring the soul stone here, so someone would have to die all over again for us to get it. we’ve already lost two people for that damn stone. and thanos is alive here, too, so it’s only a matter of time before someone comes after us.”
The question sits heavy in the air. What would she do? Tony is the greatest mind of this time, she knows a lot of weight falls on his shoulders, yet here he is asking her what she would do. It’s a loaded question, and she has a selfish answer. It always falls back to Morgan. But then other things begin to linger, Natasha is back. Her death undone and that begins to weigh itself. Does Morgan even exist anymore? Does that time they once inhabited exist? There’s a spiral that’s easy to get trapped in. “I..” Pepper pauses, and for what feels like the first time ever she says “I don’t know.” The woman presses her lips together for a moment. “There’s so many factors… and whatever happens I don’t think everyone is going to happy with it. But, I would try to get back. Purely for selfish reasons, I would try to get back but then I think about people like Natasha. Then what? She’s dead all over again… I don’t think there is a right thing to do here.” Thankfully Tony presses his hand over hers and Pepper no longer has to worry about her fingertips trembling against his face. Instead they soothingly caress his cheek. “Even if we end up bringing her here… I’d be okay with that. I just.. want her back.”
her answer largely sounded like his own. tony didn’t know what to do. there was so much to consider. “there has to be a way for everyone to win. we must be able to get everyone back to their times without sentencing them to death,” he said, shaking his head as he thought it over. if it weren’t for morgan, he’d honestly say ‘fuck it, let’s just stay here.’ they could fix their mistakes, keep so many people from getting hurt or dying, keep the team together, defeat thanos. it was the perfect opportunity for a do over, and who got do overs? but it wasn’t really that simple. in fact, it was really, really, not that simple. “i know. i know, me too. i did this for her. i can’t just live without her,” he said with a soft sigh. maybe they could bring her here. though, they didn’t really know how this had happened, which made it hard to bring anyone to them.
Clint goes on to give him a bit of a shrug. “With the way things have been going for me lately, I think if things went well tonight it might actually be an act of god himself.” The man gives a bit of a snort as he takes a long swig from his drink. He nearly snorts it out of his nose though when Tony speaks again. “You know that might be the nicest thing you’ve ever said to me.” He gives Tony’s elbow a bit of a playful nudge with his own. “As long as you’re paying I’ll take a glass.”
tony raised one eyebrow, giving him a warning look. “don’t say things like that. the last thing we need is things getting worse,” he said cautiously, shaking his head a little. he laughed at that, a genuine grin on his face. “i do what i can to lift spirits around here,” he joked. “you mean to tell me you didn’t come in here to cover my tab? wow. i’m hurt, barton,” he said, ordering the drink for him despite his teasing.
Pepper had panicked, the building had begun to shake and with that emotions kicked into overdrive. Her very core had begun to burn, extremis. The last time it had reared it’s ugly head was during the fight with Thanos, Any rubble that had tried to fall onto her on her way out was tossed to the side like it weighed as light as a feather. But as she finally broke out of the building, piece by piece a suit connected around her. Pepper was afraid she’d burn right through it, molten skin making her sweat. “Yeah – yeah. It found me.” Her voice is shaky at best. “Are you okay? Do you have a suit? Do I need to come and get you?” The questions flow from her mouth like a waterfall that cannot be stopped. “Tony – there were still people in the building.”
as he waited for her voice, he started scanning the building, looking for anyone who hadn’t made it out. there were a few others nearby, but it seemed most had already made it out. the panic in pepper’s voice is evident, even over the system. “there’s a function in there to cool you down,” tony pointed out, taking a deep breath. “i’m okay. i have a suit. don’t worry about me, help others,” he said honestly. “i know, i know. i’m working on it, there’s just so much rubble,” he said, half to himself. “jarvis, do we have a source on the earthquake?” this hadn’t happened before, but that didn’t mean it couldn’t have happened. unless it wasn’t natural. “are you okay?”

There’s been radio silence the earthquake hit; an uneasy feeling settling in Steve’s stomach at the thought of people being trapped in. There were reports coming from all over, of people trapped in various buildings but the thing that stopped him dead in his track was the report of his team being trapped in the Tower still. “Stark?” He hopes JARVIS is still up and running, switching to the Avengers only comm link. It was the only hope that he could get information on his team. “Tony, can you hear me? I need a status on everyone in there and nobody is answering.”
if it hadn’t been for jarvis or the suit, tony would’ve easily gotten far more hurt, possibly even immobilized. he was relieved that the suit kicked in, because he really didn’t want to take away from someone else needing help because he did. as steve’s voice came in, tony grinned a little. “you worried about me, cap? that’s cute. all you had to do was ask,” he said, moving around the building. “from my scans, it seems like everyone’s alive. i checked in with wanda already. barton got himself in a hell of a situation, but we’re working on it. romanoff and johnson are still up here, too. everyone else cleared out.”
the aftermath and clean up were almost worse than the initial disaster. that’s how it always went. truthfully, tony still wasn’t sure that this was a natural happenstance, and that added a whole other layer of stress. he was trying his best to get it all done and make sure everyone was taken care of, though. “you’re not from around here, are you?” he asked the woman. @gothamthief
after talking to some friends, tony went to talk to the person at the desk about covering the medical bills of everyone affected by the earthquake. once he got it all sorted out, he turned to leave, running straight into a woman he’d never met before. “love the look. very exuberant.” @bluemngs
it had taken so much time to get clint out safely that by the time he was done, the others in the tower had already been brought to safety. once everything was over, tony headed over to the hospital to check on his friends. he stopped at the first room and knocked. “can i come in?” @wndflowers
