Very minor spoilers for Deltarune chapter 4 below (and also me being cringe about my weird niche ships):

NICE CREAM GUY??? IS??? CATFISHING????? BURGERPANTS?????????? AND FEELS REALLY BAD ABOUT IT???

This was like, a crack theory to me when I saw it in a youtube comment section a couple years back.

And the reason I was scrolling through those comments in the first place?

I was, and am, complete and utter nicepants trash.

I figured it was barely above a crackship. I didn't think there was any way we'd get merit to it. I didn't think NCG would have any sort of character development or depth, he's a background hometown npc, I'm probably the only person in the world who's legitimately invested in him. But fuck, I can't help it, he's legitimately and unironically my favorite Undertale/Deltarune character and one of my favorite characters period. I basically spent all of high school mentally using my own interpretation of his personality for everything I would've used a primary oc for if I'd had one at the time.

And I always, always thought it would be so goddamned cute were the little hints about him being into Burgerpants to be canon. But I never actually thought they would get relationship development.

For a main-character ship, this would mean nothing. But to someone as desperate for Nicepants content as I am?? This is EVERYTHING. This confirms they're going to be interacting more in future chapters. This confirms that NCG is quite literally indirectly flirting with Burgy through text on the regular.

This is a big deal.

JUST PLAYED MORE AND OH MY GOD??????

So, to recap:

-NCG is being manipulated by Bratty into catfishing Burgerpants. (yes I know he's pizzapants in deltarune but does it really matter he hates being called either)

-NCG absolutely knows this is wrong, but tries to justify it in the grounds that he wants Burgy to be happy.

-Burgerpants directly states that the way his "girlfriend" texts him is very cute to him (this is revealed after the viewer knows about the catfishing thing). He isn't just attracted to the pictures, or the ideas of having a girlfriend at all, he makes a point of being genuinely enamored by the speech patterns that we know are NCG's.

-HE MADE COOKIES SHAPED LIKE HIM. I don't care how dedicated you are to lying to your coworker, secretly making and decorating cookies to look like them is crossing into not-just-pretend-flirting territory.

-i didn't get a picture of this but there was a note in the cookies that said "Meet me at the festival." We know the festival is the next chapter. One way or another, this arc is going to take a twist in chapter five, and almost certainly (I hope anyway lmao) get even gayer than it already is.

-After the Burgy conversation ends, we walk over and the camera pans to NCG (in a fantastic new rain outfit, I must add) staring dramatically away from the camera, still trying to convince himself this is okay because it's making his coworker happy. This is killing him, he's beating himself up over it. And his sadness isn't overplayed or comedic, it's written like the players are fully meant to feel bad for him. The game is making us care about Nice Cream Guy, and that wouldn't happen unless he was about to get his own arc.

In conclusion: NICEPANTS CANON YOUR HONOR

We actually do not know how many have been killed in Gaza. The numbers of those killed per day are seemingly less everyday compared to the start of the war, but we also hear of new daily massacres. We’re also hearing of Palestinians dying of starvation everyday, a number which is not included in the death toll. There’s not enough search and rescue teams to pull people from under the rubble, or that it’s too dangerous to do so. The Ministry of Health is unable to function properly, doctors and nurses are being killed off as hospitals are routinely bombed over and over, which means the current death toll is not being updated frequently and is most likely inaccurate. The carnage that Israel has left and continues to leave will only further result in the deaths of hundreds, if not thousands, even long after this ‘war’ is over. Does that not scare you? Does that not anger you?

i think a lot of the socio-political and historical analysis of why people might compare zionists to the nazis, whether in terms of authoritarianism and far-right regimes and in the relevant context of history, as well as the accusation that it is inappropriate or antisemitic, both miss a significant aspect of the comparison in and of itself

when arabs or palestinians compare zionists to nazis, gaza to the holocaust, it's also because they're aware that israelis and the western world at least grasp the horrors of the holocaust. they're aware that this was universally understood as an atrocity, and so they are trying to make this appeal because they think this is one of the few comparisons that the western mind can comprehend in the first place.

in arabic i have heard zionists compared to the mongols and tatars, to the crusaders, to the colonial british, to the american settlers and later to the americans in iraq. does any of that mean anything to the western perspective? they've never acknowledged the full depth of these atrocities in the first place. the nazis are one of many comparisons that have been drawn in the arab world, usually used for irony. but people are aware that the rest mean nothing to the ones responsible for arming and empowering israel.

instead there is a sense (however true or untrue—and it is mostly untrue) that the west understood the visceral horror of the holocaust and a sense that those responsible for it were held accountable in ways few others have due to that. and so this comparison, on a human level, is often made just to communicate in the first place. it's basically saying "i'm trying to speak your language, you are the monster to me that this monster was to you, do you understand me now?"

Something we do in Palestinian circles especially is compare the current nakba with the '48 one and '67 one. But even when we try to make this comparison now, in English and with people who do not understand the gravity of the nakba on generations of family, no one bats an eye. In fact, people go as to deny the nakba in whatever way they think makes sense.

If we were to compare in standard media, the current nakba with the others, then no one would care. Weve accepted that mainstream opinion is that no one cares about Palestinians. I'm talking mainstream political and professional media.

When Palestinians especially point out that the euro-american backed Israel is perpetuating the same violence it swore to never perpetuate again, it's a pleading to save their lives. They are not doing it out of malice or anything. They are literally trying to find any way possible to get people to do something so that the slaughter of their friends and family stops. Perhaps people should be more willing to understand that this is a population who has been consistently disenfranchised, blamed for their occupation, and repeatedly kicked out of their homes and made refugees which ruined lives. And no one has done anything about it. So they're trying to appeal to your (a westerner) sense of morality that they know you teach in your history books.

Perhaps don't be so quick to judge Palestinians for trying to find ways to make you help them?
