I think the most charitable interpretation of this is that people connect to characters that are like them, and that the experiences of Blackness is so alien to them that the White characters are the only ones that White people connect with. Combine that with the fact that Tumblr is so White as a platform, and you get this issue.

It’s still bad and racist, but it is understandable. People should still do better though. (I’m not trying to justify, I’m trying to come up with an explanation)

🚨🚨There's an artist I suspect of using generative AI and tracing over it for Fields of Mistria style commissions on Vgen.

Below is an example of their older work they've since removed from their vgen examples for Fields of Mistria style commissions. As y'all can see, it's a trace of Adeline(?)'s sprite with rather flat, simple coloring.

In contrast, this is one of the pieces they now have listed as an example:

That level of detail in an outfit but not having the wrapped hair around the horns protrude to show dimension, plus the deeply inconsistent rendering styles with only 9 months in between postings makes me very suspicious. Zooming in on the dress and armor, there's a lot of little details that just don't check out to me that an artist who would consistently put out this level of detail would make. I'd also add that to have intricate detail and clarity on the dress, but failing to make the back part of the hair make sense is another dead giveaway.

The lack of consistent rendering between commission options (yes, I am aware these are supposed to mimic different art styles, but the hair shading on the tomagotchi style vs their "regular chibi style) are pretty big giveaway.

I'd heavily suggest y'all block and report their account, and not commissioning.
