Keep in mind that both of these lines are said by Knuckles. So immediately after he says “present” the first time, he forgets the context of why he said it and that the word has more than one meaning. Instead, he hears the sound of the word “present” coming out of his own mouth and construes that he might be getting a present.

Guys, I’m worried about Knuckles.
