A fool
Request: could u do one where y/n was the best friend of Shawn, but they lost contact after Shawn got famous and now they haven’t spoken for several years but reunite at a party back in Pickering?:)
You looked at your reflection in the mirror, satisfied with your makeup for the evening. You tugged a little on your tank top, pulling in further down on your stomach as it had a tendency to work it’s way up with time.
“Y/N” a familiar voice spoke from behind you, causing you to move your gaze from your own reflection to the person standing behind you, your best friend Y/BF/N. The two of you hadn’t been best friends, or even friends, for a very long time, but in the short amount of time you had known her you had grown to like her very much. She was everything you had missed in a friend. Everything but Shawn. You snapped out of your thoughts and smiled at your friend.
“Earth to Y/N” she said. “People are dropping in now, we have to go downstairs” she said, referring to the people you had invited for the party the two of you were throwing.
“Which are the ones coming already?” you said confused, glancing at the clock that showed it was 8.11 pm. You thought you had told everyone that they shouldn’t come before at least 9.
“Jack and his friends” she responded quickly.
“I don’t remember inviting them”
“About that” she said as she reached for a glass of vine standing on the makeup table in front of you, “I invited them..I thought it would be okay if just a few extra could come?”
“Y/BF/N” you burst out. “How many did you invite that I don’t know about?”
“A couple” she said. You gave her a look that said you wearn’t messing with her, and she mumbled a quite “20-ish”
“20?” you shouted. “My parents are going to kill me”
“Here, you’ll need this more than I will” she said and handed you the glass of whine. Your best friend shifted in her seat, nervously fiddling with a ring on her finger. You brought the glass to your mouth and drained the glass.
“Hey” you said and put your hands on her shoulders, shaking her slightly. “I don’t hate you. But you have to help me get really drunk or else I won’t be able to have any fun tonight” you said and sighted, earning a chuckle from your best friend.
“I could do that”

You leaned against the kitchen island, thinking to yourself that it had been an incredibly stupid idea to throw a party. Your parents were gone for the weekend, but you were now unsure if it would be a house left for them to return to. There was people everywhere, and you barely knew half of them. You wondered how your best friend even knew them. You could feel the alcohol making it’s way up your brain, causing your vision to become blurry and your balance worse. You felt sick, and you had nowhere to escape.
“Y/N” a familiar voice spoke behind you, a too familiar one. You recognized it immediately, it was a voice you had heard millions of times, and that you would never forget.
You didn’t turn around before you mumbled; “Shawn.”
“I thought I got it wrong when someone said it was a party on this address. I couldn’t believe you were throwing a party, I had to see it with my own eyes” Shawn said, still standing behind you.
“What do you want Shawn?” you said as you spun around and faced him. It was weird seeing him like this, so much more grown up since you had last seen his face in person. Of course you hadn’t managed to escape his face from the newspapers and youtube etc, he seemed to show up everywhere. Yet you now felt intimidated by him, the alcohol making you emotional.
“I wanted to see you. It’s been a long time” Shawn said, dragging a hand trough his hair nervously.
“3 years” you said. “It’s been 3 years Shawn, without you even sending me a simple text”
“I’m sorry Y/N. I’m a fool, believe me I know” Shawn said, fiddling with a ring on his finger. You didn’t recognize it, thinking it must be something coming with his fame.
“No you don’t” you said angrily. “You don’t know what’s it been like watching you become this-” you said struggling to find the rights words. “..-this guy that I don’t even recognize animore. This guy who attends fancy awardshows and plays at Madison Square Garden, while I’m still stuck here.” Tears where now threatening to spill, and with your vision already being blurry from the alcohol you couldn’t see anything. Suddenly you felt extremely nauseous, and you desperately searched with your hands for something to grip.
“Whoa, Y/N are you alright?” Shawn said worriedly, gently touching your arm. Tears were now streaming down your face, and you sat down on the floor, leaning against the cupboard.
“Hey, don’t cry” Shawn said with a gentle voice. “Here let me help you” he said and took a strong hold of your tiny body, lifting you up in his strong arms. Normally you would have faught for him to let you down, since you didn’t like when people carried you. But now you lacked of energy to even talk. You just let yourself be carried, figuring it would be for the best.
“Here we go” Shawn mumbled as he laid you down on your own bed.
“You found my room” you managed to say, and Shawn chuckled slightly.
“Of course I remember where your room is, I practically grew up here” Shawn said and gave you a weak smile. You leaned your head on a pillow and closed your eyes. The nausea was gone, and the spinning wasn’t that bad anymore.
“You’re okay?” Shawn asked you, and you nodded in response. The room fell silent. “How’s life here?” Shawn spoke. You chuckled and shook your head, causing Shawn to look at you with a confused look.
“As usual” you said. “Nothing’s changed, really”Shawn nodded understandingly and the room fell silent once again. You looked around the room, your room. Your makeup table was standing steadily infront of your bed, and you met your reflection in the mirror. You also saw the reflection of Shawn sitting on the end of your bed. At the sight of your reflection you realized a few things that had taken you a long time to comprehend. Firstly, it was the same girl and boy in the reflection like the one’s that had been sitting on that same bed years ago. Secondly, it was not the same boy and girl at all. It wasn’t any longer a boy and a girl, but a man and a woman, and nothing was the same. The boy had been your best friend, but that boy was long gone. You and Shawn would always share a past, but maybe your relationship should stay there as well - in the past.
You dropped your gaze from your reflection and fixed it on Shawn instead. He was a nice guy, and he always had been. But it was time to move on.
“Shawn” you spoke. “We knew each other for a very long time”
“Knew?” Shawn said with a confused look.
“Yeah Shawn, I don’t know you anymore, we don’t know each other anymore, and maybe it’s time to let go of each other. I’m going to hate myself for saying this tomorrow, and maybe it’s just the alcohol speaking, but I don’t want to get to know you again. Because you won’t be the same guy that was my best friend”
“Are you serious? I think you’re just-” Shawn began before you interrupted him.
“I’m sorry Shawn. I’m a fool, believe me I know”
