Hoje você me visitou, e trouxe tranquilidade.
Essa noite você me visitou, e eu me senti pronta.
“Addiction is tricky. For example: a man who quit smoking for 11 years spent 15 seconds in an elevator with a man smoking a cigarette. He gave in.
What I’m trying to say is I think I love you again.” —Unknown

Even after all this time, i still think about you. You were my best and biggest maybe. I remember our first kiss, filled with innocence and expectations, i remember us trying so hard to pretend that there wasnt a flame everytime we saw each other, we denied it to ourselves the entire night, then ended up making out inside a bathroom just to pretend that nothing happened.
I remember feeling so much, and i remember not feeling enough. I am so sorry that i met you when we both were so immature but thankful that you were my first kiss. I am so sorry that i waited for something that i never allowed to come, and i am sorry that you were too excited about us to wait for my excitment to arrive, but i am thankful for all the times we tried to be together. I am sorry for realizing now that we deserved more and I am sorry for checking on social media to see if youre still dating and for hoping that something would happen with us again, but i am thankful that you got what your heart desired and i couldnt give you.
Today i saw you and it is always weird to pretend youre just a friend, when i see you i see everything we could have been, and everything i stopped us from being. I cant treat you as a friend and i dont want you to breakup with another girl because you want to try again with me, so i am sorry if i seem distant.
I think that we are more mature now, maybe, if the universe gives us another chance to be together, i’d like you to be more than a “maybe” to me. But maybe i am too late now
Sage Sohier chronicled the love of gay couples in the 1980s in her collection At Home With Themselves. Spurred by the AIDS crisis and the media representations of promiscuity and disease in the community, the project aimed to dispel stereotypes about gay love and showcase lesbian and gay couples of all ages, backgrounds and proclivities, capturing a visual that often went unseen.
“I was interested in how, as a culture, we weren’t used to looking at two men touching, and was struck by the visual novelty yet total ordinariness of these same-sex relationships. The visual ambiguity of same-sex relationships also intrigued me: were these sisters or friends or lovers or a mother and daughter?“
The photographic endeavor was also prompted by Sohier’s father. The book is dedicated to him and his partner Lee.
Love ends.
