literally why doesn't amos have any official viria art, or ruby, julius or any of the gods besides anubis and bast? the gods are major actors in tkc, they're like main and secondary characters, and we get six official portraits?? six???? even natalie chase, who famously spends all of mcga dead and barely appears in flashbacks got her portrait. side characters from toa, like all those dryads from the cistern got their portraits. which is good! good for them! but why is tkc scraping the bottom of the barrel again?

i'm such a big fan of those "demigods don't seem quite human" headcanons and honestly i feel like it's the most prevalent in the kane chronicles. not just like because they actually channel gods for their magic but because they're so much more established and isolated than the other mythological socieities.

also can you just picture it? carter's eyes tend to spark gold when he shakes hands with someone, almost as if he's used to meeting with important people and sizing up their worth. it's almost hard for normal mortals to look directly at zia, almost as difficult as looking directly at the sun. magic comes at such a second nature to sadie that things seem to fix themselves or get stronger just as she steps closer. walt exudes an air of death that makes even the healthiest people wonder when it is coming for them. even the minor characters don't seem quite human. cleo knows things no one should, the earth shapes around alyssa's feet, julian always seems to see five steps ahead in every sports game, the air temperature drops a few degrees when felix enters a room, minor cuts and bruises go away with a single touch of jazz's hand. people around them know there's something otherworldly about them, but no one can figure out what exactly it is.

interesting ideas that have arisen from tkc discord lately

walt met anubis way before his first appearance in the second book. due to walt's curse/chronic illness, he's been in and out of hospitals a lot, and anubis hung out there as well (due to them being a place of death) (@aroaceleovaldez, has a post on it here)

rachel is the type of person to see some shit going down at her neighbors', shrug, and go back to sleep. at most, she will text apollo something like "neighbors house on fire lol. those guys ok?" (@bisexualbiancatruther)

the 68th nome is located in indianapolis, about six blocks away from the waystation. no, they don't know about each other (@stopitniobe)

due to superstition, the house of life doesn't have nomes of specific numbers (like 13 or 69), which of course leads to even more jokes about "true locations of the 69th nome" et cetera (@aroaceleovaldez)

[felix and meg meet for the first time] sadie watching them, minute 1: awww omg these two are pretty funny. they're getting along, nice sadie, minute 30: rachel call your dealer to get his gremlin, if her and felix keep dissing me and my boyfriends about "blue hair and pronouns" and "being poly and from seattle" i'm gonna become violent

i love sadie & set friendship because while she hates the guy for, y'know, trying to take over the world, and, more importantly, having a toxic fling with her uncle, once set starts being a frequent guest at the brooklyn house (after amos becomes his eye in tss), she's in a pickle because she does find him pretty funny, but she's also still pissed at him. set knows this and kinda makes fun of sadie for it, while sadie is refusing to acknowledge that he can be very funny. (they do eventually grow past that and become good friends. to the detriment of carter, who has to be around for their chaos)

Honestly I feel like when the Brooklyn house crew play Among us, it's just gonna be Carter and Sadie accusing each other the whole time then someone like Zia and Walt/Anubis just sneak up behind them and kill them.

Then Sadie proceeds to scream at her boyfriend in the ghost chat and Carter is just so betrayed.

tkc Anubis has to be one of the characters of all time. He is 5000 years old and also 16 at the same time. He's goth and canonically in a polyamorous relationship with a goth boyfriend and a punk girlfriend. His way of flirting is to say he is going to research how to flirt. All of his interactions happen in graveyards or places associated with death and he does yap about that regardless of time or place. He's technically possessing his boyfriend. He has a minor case of Parent Issues. He has a jackal form. What is there not to love?

imo percy and thalia’s friendship is one of the absolute best things in pjo and i love how beautifully it’s set up even before the titan’s curse. you have percy finding out thalia’s story and how zeus’s actions brought a terrible fate to his daughter and percy going, but that isn’t fair! it wasn’t the little girl’s fault! it becomes a symbol of how the gods are extremely flawed (both to percy and luke; percy specifically brings up how luke’s actions are a betrayal to thalia and her sacrifice, and luke counters that the gods caused her horrible fate, the same conclusion percy comes to when he first hears the story) and more than that, to percy, thalia is the epitome of what a hero should be.

percy is so struck by thalia’s bravery and heroism and and selflesness and immediately feels guilty for not matching up to her, feelings that are obviously intensified when thalia’s back in the titan’s curse. but under the surface of all the competitiveness and jealousy there’s just so much admiration and awe on percy’s end, and you see that continuously in the way percy talks about her even before she comes back to life. 

and the scene where thalia becomes human again is SO good, percy’s actions in that moment are so telling of the kind of person he is. i love how proactive he is in that scene, how he rushes to help a hurt demigod without hesitation because that’s just what he sees as his duty. he sees thalia hurt and unconscious by the tree and even though he has no idea what’s going on, he instantly runs to her and kneels by her while everyone else is just staring at her, puts his hand on her forehead and yells that she needs nectar and ambrosia, not understanding why the rest of the camp isn’t helping her, why everyone else is so scared. 

just! percy holding thalia up with her head on his shoulder and what’s wrong with you people and then! the absolute tenderness of this!

idk i just…. love all of it, how annabeth tells percy that he is more similar to thalia than anyone and that they would either be worst enemies or best friends, yet percy already has this intrinsic respect and regard for thalia, how percy is the first one to approach her, a hero that has already affected him so deeply, and tell her that she’s safe and she’s okay. i’ve only just started my titan’s curse reread so i’m sure i’ll have many more thoughts once i finish that but in conclusion! percy and thalia bffs 4 lyfe
