i love making friends in fandom, i love playing with our toys together, i love coming up with increasingly niche aus, i love lifting strangers up, i love motivating people to create, i love watching someone get excited over an idea and immediately running with it, i love yelling in tags together, i love seeing someone gain confidence in their writing/art because people were kind to them <33
sorry i'm still angry about this but if your excuse for not caring about female characters is because you're not sexually attracted to them you are exactly 0 degrees of rhetorical separation from a redditor whining about how his favourite video game is now "too woke" because the women don't show enough skin

I wish they made it even marginally possible to get a job like Iâm so fucking sorry I donât have a rare but also highly demanded skillset, an agreeable disposition, and the ability to survive off of three nickels a week Iâm soooo sorry
I need to scream this from the rooftops:
IF YOU CANâT GET A JOB, ITâS NOT YOUR FAULT!!!!! THE SYSTEM IS DEEPLY BROKEN!!!!!!!!
The hiring process has never been great, but in the past couple of years itâs hit rock bottom. Ghost jobs probably outnumber real jobs on job sites. Recruiters and HR use AI which throws out 90% of resumes before a real human being sees them. And most companies are hellbent on holding out for a unicorn candidate- meaning someone who already knows how to do the EXACT role without any training while also accepting entry level wages- instead of investing in new people.
Itâs fucking hard out there right now. You are not alone and itâs not your fault if you canât get hired.
In case anyone finds it helpful because mobility aids are horrifically expensive and inaccessibleâŠ
And for those people who have access to mobility devices but might benefit from a second chair they can abuse without risking expensive damageâŠ
Erik Kondo has made a website, Open Source Innovations, that details plans for DIY wheelchairs. These wheelchairs can be made from common materials like wood, plastic, and pvc. They are lightweight and can be custom fit to the user allowing from the same degree of movement you would get from a custom chair. And they are durable and easily repairable. (he has been stress testing his latest design by dropping it down stairs, dropping it out of a car, launching it across a driveway, and throwing it off a deck). Its 12lbs and I think he said its was in the $200 ish range for parts.
He also is working on cheap, open source, accessible designs for beach chairs, off road chairs, motorized attachments (think smart drive), and so on. Plus he skateboards in his wheelchair. Cool dude, helpful info, pass it on.
It's incredibly sad people have to resort to this, but it's a damn good resource. Use it. Spread awareness. Maybe one day people with physical disabilities won't need DIYs like this. But until then, reblog and share.
This is Accessibility!
That's so amazing! It is unfortunate that so many people will need this, but very very cool that it exists
That other link seems to be broken.
Thank you so much for putting the working one!
I will add it to my original reblog as well.
[ID by user paniniwitharugula: a wooden wheelchair made primarily of two-by-fours with a low back, tall wheels, and black seat cushions. The front wheels are hardware caster wheels. end I.D.]
itâs funny bc I think I have a lot to learn, with blindspots that Iâm still trying to fill in by reading more and talking to people etc, but when Iâm hanging around certain family members I suddenly become The Wokest Person Alive just by merit of having made some attempt to not be shitty. and this isnât level 3 discourse like âconflating submissiveness with a preference for bottoming is misogynisticâ, itâs basic shit like âno, health is not a state of mind, and sick people are sick for reasons beyond bad attitude,â and âno, you should not loudly talk about how shocked you were that a Nigerian man was at grandmaâs funeral,â and âplease donât say that about Jewish people,â and so on.
and usually they are willing to listen when I talk about this stuff, so there is a benefit to me being there, but holy crap is it a tonal shift going from online to real life.
not to be political on main but i think we should probably be making things easier for people
happy pride to the gay people in my computer <3
repeat after me. humans are not inherently evil humans are not like a virus on this earth humans do not âdeserveâ to go extinct or anything like that. we are living breathing animals that deserve space just like every other creature on this planet. thereâs just a tiny amount of us that have a fuck ton of money and power and they really suck
ecofascist rhetoric getting popular again and i donât like it one bit
I think ao3 is literally the only site where no censorship means no censorship. you can post the most vile things on there â things that will get taken down on any other platforms â and ao3 will protect you, your works, and your rights to create whatever you want, however you want.
and no, this isnât me saying âwrite that messed up, disgusting thingâ because while, yes, write it if itâs what you want (I myself enjoy writing dark fics, something I believe would be considered âvileâ to a lot of people), this is me saying in a world of censorship and capitalism, ao3 really is a treasure.
everybody say thank you ao3
reclaiming character designs from an old project â
youâre going to love again, find a job again, create art again, do what you love again, feel powerful again. youâre going to be back on track. i donât know when, but you are going to feel like yourself again, eventually. this isnât the end. hang in there.
donât let anyone convince you that caring about the earth, the environment, and wildlife isnât cool. it is so cool to care. it is so important to care.
kill the imposter syndrome in your head because not only is there someone out there doing it worse than you, theyâre also using chat gpt to do it
arts degrees r so funny because you go in class and theyre like What Is A Poem? we dont know for sure... and then moral of the story is we don't know what a poem is. and then the worst part of it is that theyre right
