I actually recommend everyone write for a rarepair once because it completely changes your relationship with fandom. Engagement stops being numbers and starts being names. You know who's going to show up. You recognize usernames. Someone disappears for a while and then comes back and you're like āOH MY GOD WELCOME HOME.ā It's incredibly wholesome. It is also deeply inconvenient when all six of you simultaneously get writer's block-
Caught myself spiraling and then remembered it's just my body not wanting to exist in these temperatures
i completely understand & agree with the backlash against students using chatgpt to get degrees but some of you are out here saying "getting a degree in xyz means pulling multiple consecutive all-nighters and writing essays through debilitating migraines and having severe back pain from constantly studying at your desk and chugging energy drinks until you get a kidney stone and waking up wishing you were dead every day, and that's just part of the natural process of learning!!!" and like. umm. i don't think that any of us should have had to endure that either. like maybe the solution for stopping students from using anti-learning software depends on college institutions making the process of learning actually sustainable on the human body & mind rather than a grueling health-destroying soul-crushing endeavor
Couldn't stop thinking about what it takes to be an MD throughout reading this
Guys will be like āIām so romanticā and then they wonāt even do a courtship display dance by hopping around and flapping their wings. They wonāt even toss a twig in the air for you with their beak š
reminder to all disabled people that youāre allowed to tell people āi canāt do thatā about stuff you can ātechnicallyā do but which harms you or requires a period of recovery or preparatory rest etc. you donāt have to explain the complex nuances of your condition to anybody who demands it. iāve found itās honestly better to give the least amount of info about your symptoms unless you trust a person a lot. you hold the power over your health information. you choose whether or not to share the details of your condition with people who might not understand.
Even in left wing circles itās literally like pulling teeth trying to get people to take misogyny seriously as a real problem that is killing women and ruining their lives everywhere all the time and not like a haha silly 1950s problem we just make jokes about now
pride month is almost over I would just like to say happy pride to boring LGBTQ people in particular. everyone expects us to be brilliant creatives and scientists and interior decorators and quirky professors and tortured artists but some of us wear nothing but Kirkland Signature clothing and watch Friends and The Office and are incapable of having an interesting conversation and that is okay. our diversity is our strength.
talking to a very boring LGBTQ person once in a while is so refreshing, youāre like āWhoa! Youāre so average and normal! Youāre like a coworker at an office job! The only thing we have in common is our LGBTQ identity and that is beautiful!ā
you should always be weird next to people you want to befriend. if you want to befriend people and for them to like you as you are then you can't hide yourself. if people you like/want to befriend react to you being kinda weird by getting angry or making fun of you, then they're not worth befriending.. you GOTTA look the way you want and dress the way you want and talk weird and be nerdy and have interests. you gottaaaaaaa be yourself and then people who like you the way you are will naturally be drawn to you. please. promise me you'll be weird
open tumblr, see something that pisses me off, write a snarky post, delete it, write a slightly more earnest post, edit it for 5 minutes, delete it, close tumblr
the most important virtues for the young woman are as follows: time theft, selfishness, orgasms, irreverence to authority, sacrilegious behavior, a questioning mind, and eating regular meals.

i love making friends in fandom, i love playing with our toys together, i love coming up with increasingly niche aus, i love lifting strangers up, i love motivating people to create, i love watching someone get excited over an idea and immediately running with it, i love yelling in tags together, i love seeing someone gain confidence in their writing/art because people were kind to them <33
sorry i'm still angry about this but if your excuse for not caring about female characters is because you're not sexually attracted to them you are exactly 0 degrees of rhetorical separation from a redditor whining about how his favourite video game is now "too woke" because the women don't show enough skin

I wish they made it even marginally possible to get a job like Iām so fucking sorry I donāt have a rare but also highly demanded skillset, an agreeable disposition, and the ability to survive off of three nickels a week Iām soooo sorry
I need to scream this from the rooftops:
IF YOU CANāT GET A JOB, ITāS NOT YOUR FAULT!!!!! THE SYSTEM IS DEEPLY BROKEN!!!!!!!!
The hiring process has never been great, but in the past couple of years itās hit rock bottom. Ghost jobs probably outnumber real jobs on job sites. Recruiters and HR use AI which throws out 90% of resumes before a real human being sees them. And most companies are hellbent on holding out for a unicorn candidate- meaning someone who already knows how to do the EXACT role without any training while also accepting entry level wages- instead of investing in new people.
Itās fucking hard out there right now. You are not alone and itās not your fault if you canāt get hired.
In case anyone finds it helpful because mobility aids are horrifically expensive and inaccessibleā¦
And for those people who have access to mobility devices but might benefit from a second chair they can abuse without risking expensive damageā¦
Erik Kondo has made a website, Open Source Innovations, that details plans for DIY wheelchairs. These wheelchairs can be made from common materials like wood, plastic, and pvc. They are lightweight and can be custom fit to the user allowing from the same degree of movement you would get from a custom chair. And they are durable and easily repairable. (he has been stress testing his latest design by dropping it down stairs, dropping it out of a car, launching it across a driveway, and throwing it off a deck). Its 12lbs and I think he said its was in the $200 ish range for parts.
He also is working on cheap, open source, accessible designs for beach chairs, off road chairs, motorized attachments (think smart drive), and so on. Plus he skateboards in his wheelchair. Cool dude, helpful info, pass it on.
It's incredibly sad people have to resort to this, but it's a damn good resource. Use it. Spread awareness. Maybe one day people with physical disabilities won't need DIYs like this. But until then, reblog and share.
This is Accessibility!
That's so amazing! It is unfortunate that so many people will need this, but very very cool that it exists
That other link seems to be broken.
Thank you so much for putting the working one!
I will add it to my original reblog as well.
