Actual Writing Advice That Helps Me

If you're writing third person, imagine ur in the room with these characters and constantly walking around. Look at them from different angles. Write what you see then elaborate later.

I always write dialogue first. If I know what's being said I can usually maneuver the body/emotions/tone later to fit

Leave it be. Once you're done writing, take a day off, don't look at it. Then come back and edit/polish it up

“His touch felt warm, like a fire that couldn't burn. It was just that warm, that comforting.” / delete the second ‘warm’. You've already said it was warm, the reader knows. Unless the extra attention is necessary, this is too wordy. Reword it like this-> “His touch felt warm, like a fire that couldn't burn. It was just that comforting.”

If you can remove a word/phrase/(entire scene/sentence) and the story makes sense, then it might not have been important in the first place.

Look at references as you write. Write what you see, what you feel, and elaborate later

Everyones gonna have a few bad sentences in a story, don't get caught up on fixing one bad sentence/thing.

Writing is hard. It's tiring. It's unbelievably nerve-wracking to publish your work for people to judge and critique. It's even worse when you get nothing in return (ie. no feedback). Try to leave yourself comments (mental or irl). Write what you want to see.

If you're not loving a scene/part you wrote try taking a break and rewriting it. Listen to music. Go for a walk. Draw. Just don't think about it.

Write somewhere you're comfortable

These are just some things that I do to help w/ my writing. It's mostly all habit for me by now. But I hope this helps someone!

Also, just because these help me, doesn't mean they’ll help you. Everyone writes differently and at different speeds. Take your time, enjoy what you're working on.
