Original Zandik × Immortal Reader HCs
• You and Zandik were inseparable since Akademiya. When you were kids, you constantly clung to his sleeve to get his attention. He would pretend to get mad but deep inside he never wanted you to leave.
• It was only the matter of time when two of you started dating. He wasn't the most sweetest or the most attentive boyfriend. He was annoying, sometimes rude and snarky but everytime you needed a hug he was willing to give you one. Even if he was going to complain about it for the rest of the day.
• After his expulsion, you followed Zandik. He didn't understand why. He didn't understand why would you waste your life on someone like him. Not that he had any troubles with his self-esteem, he just knew he already was far before gone.
• He joined the Fatui later and you were still there. You watched Zandik's path full of different obstacles and couldn't help but feel proud and slightly sad. You'd get married in rainy day of November. Zandik was going to be pissed beyond measure because he spent hours trying to predict the weather with meteorology to make sure this day was perfect. You didn't care. Both of you got wet in the rain and you held him close to feel his warmth as local priest of Snezhnaya was reading prayers.
• You started to realize how much Zandik had aged and how much you did not. He noticed it too. Both of you were confused but came to the conclusion that, apparently, you were immortal and was destined to stay eternal youth.
• Firstly, Zandik was jealous of you. Then this jealousy turned into grief. When he dies, he was going to leave you alone. You, who constantly followed him around. You, who managed to keep his sanity. You, who didn't let him forget he was still a human. It was such a strange feeling to care about someone that wasn't him.
• Instead of focusing on the elixir, Zandik focused on you. He started to take your blood samples, saliva samples. Firstly you thought, maybe he was going to use you for reaching immortality. But instead, he wanted to study your immortality to be sure it's not a curse. He didn't want you to suffer without him.
•He'd never dissect you. You were probably the only good thing that ever happened to him. His sacred exception.
• Zandik grew softer with age. He became more affectionate though he would never admit it. His joints buckled, his hips hurt with deep, boring pain, his head was dizzy almost half of the time. But he still made your favourite coffee every morning, waited for you to wake up at breakfast then complain the entire breakfast about your "inefficience". Until his hands simply couldn't even hold a cup without trembling like crazy.
• You took care of him. You always made sure he didn't overwork, stayed warm and comfortable. When he got lost in time at work, you would come into his lab to cover him with a blanket and bring him a cup of his favorite warm tea. Zandik had mixed feelings about it. He knew you would have to move on eventually after he dies. But he couldn't bear the thought of you ever choosing another and forgetting about him.
• You would still love to cuddle him. He didn't mind it too. He was always cold at day yet sweated through his sheets at 3 AM which frustrated him deeply. You always just laughed it off and called him "your old hag". He still didn't came up with a cool comeback at that.
• He'd joke about his decay too, expecting you to stay. "When I'm gone, you'll have to tell my Segments I always hated their stupid haircuts. Especially 35's." You absolutely hated that and always scolded him for it, told him not to jinx it. Zandik would find dark humor in being one that leaves for once.
• He'd ask you to promise you will never fall for another version of him. Seeing his younger Segments even just talking to you while he was already old and wrinkly was... disheartening. He even thought about getting rid of them but then let it go. "I should've spent less time creating copies, and more time just... being with you."
• Before bed you still shared, he could whisper things like: "Promise you'll forget me slowly. Not at once." Or he could rest his trembling hand on your shoulder and say: "You'll watch the sun rise without me. How cruel. How... beautiful."
•He hated his wrinkles, his stupid withered body that felt like a cage. You made sure he was as loved as when he was in his 20s. Intimacy was long beyond forgotten since his spine couldn't take it. That was something he was particularly sore about, feeling less of a man. Especially Zandik felt incredibly down when he noticed you staring at Segment 8 with with quiet longing. He clutched the handle of his cane until his hands turned white.
• He'd never create a Segment of you. Because your immortality is your soul, not your body. A copy would be an insult.
• After Zandik died, he left you all his legacy, his name, his research. You didn't care about all of it. You wanted your "old hag" back. Eventually, you would have to leave Zapolyarny palace because it became a cage that reminded you of your dead significant other you could never bring back.
• Other Segments would try to use you. They didn't love you like your Zandik did. They couldn't. They would study you as the source of immortality, of Original's research.
• You'd have to live with the memory of your only friend, your best friend, your husband for the rest of eternity.
