"Angewomon"

I've always found Angewomon to be a very pretty digimon and I've been wanting to draw her for a while. There were so many details with this artwork--it took forever to draw! Unfortunately I used too dark of colors on her wings, and on top of that one of my markers started to dry out so it looks less smooth than it could. It also took forever to color! But I do like how the gold colors came out. I was thinking of adding a dark background to make the wings look lighter and brighter, but I got lazy and decided not to lol. On to the next artwork!

"Blushing Hawks"

You're not going to believe this, but I'm very proud of how this painting came out! It took a lot of work and hours to finish it, but I'm happy with how it turned out! It was a very, very difficult painting to do, though.

I used alcohol makers on Hawks, watercolor pencils for the background, and colored pencils for the sparkles. I used mixed media paper, but it was very, very hard on my markers. Some dried up really bad, and I had to refill them with ink numerous times, and unfortunately, I might have to replace some of them with out much the paper sucked them dry. Apparently mixed media paper is not made for markers!

The watercolor background was very, very difficult to pull off. It took hours to get the gradient to look smooth. It's not perfect, but I'm thankful it looks better than how I started.

I was very, very torn about whether to add the sparkles or not in the end with colored pencils. At first I wanted bubbles and sparkles, but then I figured the background might look too busy and would distract from Hawks. I'm glad I left the bubbles out in the end.

I wanted to make it look like he was in love, but it kind of came out like someone was in love with him and looking at him lovingly. Ooops! But overall I think my hard work paid off. I'm sad the mixed media paper doesn't work with markers. I'll have to try better paper that works for both alcohol markers and watercolor!

"Cloud Hair"

I've been wanting to draw something like this for a while, but I was stuck on what colors to use. At first I was going to do blue and white clouds with a gradient blue background sky, but then I decided I wanted sunset colors on the hair. I feel like I could've colored the hair more instead of just the shadows, but oh well! Live and learn. I think I'm slowly getting better at watercolor pencils, but they're still tricky. My camera also doesn't capture their texture well, so that doesn't help. But I can't give up! Gotta keep practicing to get better!

Animal Crossing Items

I got a new sketchbook that's designed for wet mediums, including alcohol markers, and I was very excited to try it out. I've been playing a lot of Animal Crossing New Horizons lately and felt inspired to draw and color some of the cute items in the game. I went for a rainbow theme when choosing what to draw. The present was the hardest to draw, the seashell took the longest to color, and the fossil was the easiest to draw and color. I also like the fossil the most. Overall I think it turned out all right! :)

"Hawks 6 Expressions Part 2"

These took forever to draw. I spent months on these sketches because I was so afraid of messing them up. But I'm glad I was able to force myself to finish them! I really like how the fifth one came out. Do you have a favorite one?

"Blue Cornrows"

I've had the desire to draw something using only one main color for a while, but it took forever before I could decide on what to draw. I finally decided on a side-profile. The braids weren't too terribly difficult to draw, but they were a pain to color so that the light and shadows looked somewhat realistic. I decided to leave the skin alone and mostly focus on the hair in the end. I was going to use some watercolor for the background and use some colored pencil for the finer details, but I gave up on that in the end. I think over all it turned out all right, though. :)

"Felicia"

The angle of Felicia's face was a little tricky to draw, so I ended up using the grid method. The original reference looks like there were colored pencils used (possibly), and that's probably why my drawing looks so different--I only used markers on mine. The colors came out a little darker than I had anticipated--especially the skin. But I think I did an overall okay job coloring in the larger areas and making them look smooth for the most part (especially with the face). This took a lot of ink to finish, but I'm glad it's done.

"Pretty Hawks"

This was a rather stressful drawing to complete. I needed to use the grid method to draw Hawks properly, and some of my markers ran out of ink while coloring Hawks. I had to wait for refills before I could finish coloring him :( Though, I think the gradient background came out all right. It's definitely my best gradient yet. Overall, I think this is one of the best drawings I've done in a while, so I'm glad it's all done!

"Sunset Deer"

This was a challenging drawing to do. I for some reason got the idea to try draw the same thing four times and then use different mediums to color each of the drawings. I used Canson mixed media paper for this drawing. The top left is watercolor pencil, the top right is colored pencil, the bottom left is colored pencil with solvent, and the fourth one is alcohol marker. It was a little frustrating to draw the same deer four times (I should've traced it, honestly). Coloring with colored pencils was harder than I thought it would be. It came out waxier than I thought. Also I tried to match the colors for each medium, but they came out pretty differently once they hit the paper. The gradient backgrounds were very challenging, with watercolor pencil being the easiest and colored pencil being the hardest. I definitely have to practice with colored pencils more. But it was still an interesting experiment in the end.

"Kiriko and her Kitsune"

I've been wanting to draw this character for a while now. It took forever to draw in the details; I probably should've simplified the design a bit more. When it came to the reference photo I used, Kiriko had other outfits to choose from. I should've picked a simpler one, but oh well. And coloring took forever! My phone camera makes everything look so grainy, unfortunately. But at least the kitsune and kiriko's skin and dress look smooth. I probably should've used this same smooth technique on the whole painting, but it would've taken forever unfortunately. But I think I'm slowly getting better at watercolor pencils! Hopefully I get even better in the future.

"Mermaid Hair"

This was a really difficult drawing. It took forever to make the curls look decent. This was also the first time I used colored pencils in years, but I think it turned out all right. I'm used to using markers and having to color things quickly to get the colors to blend, so it was nice to be able to take my time with the pencils and color them at a slower pace. I really liked how the starfish, seashells, and pearls came out. I look forward to getting better at colored pencils!

"My Hero Academia Eyes"

My Hawks Eyes drawing was quite popular, so I decided to draw more characters' eyes from My Hero Academia. Bakugo's eyes were the most challenging to draw, but I think Todoroki's eyes came out the best. Coloring the drawing was pretty straight forward (I used alcohol markers), but for some reason Deku's eyes came out way too blue when I took a picture of them with my phone. I ended up having to go in and edit the color a little bit to make them look more green. Overall, I think it turned out all right!

“Hawks Eye Study Part 2″

I had a lot of fun with my first Hawks Eye study that I decided to do a second one. It’s interesting to see how inconsistent Hawks’s eyes are in the My Hero Academia manga and anime. I’m hoping to find my own style for Hawks’s eyes soon so I can draw him without worrying about getting the eyes “right.” Hopefully I can find my own style soon.

“Hawks Eye Study Part 1″

I noticed that in the My Hero Academia anime and manga that Hawks’s eyes and eyebrows are drawn very inconsistently. I decided to draw several pairs of eyes, experimenting with the shapes and details. It came out better than I anticipated--especially after it was colored. :) Look forward to part 2!

“Strawberry Shortcake”

This was a really, really challenging drawing. The cake took forever to draw (I even needed a ruler!) and the perspective and foreshortening of the girl was really hard. Coloring it was also really scary. I’m not sure if it’s the shade of brown I’m using or what, but I can never seem to make the skin look smooth. It’s so frustrating. I’ll have to keep trying though--this is only my fifth time using watercolor pencils. I was going to add a plain background color, but I decided not to in the end. I think it turned out okay, though. I’ll have to keep practicing!

"Hawks Sketches" Scroll for close ups! I've been meaning to draw Hawks for a while, but I had no confidence in being able to draw him properly, so I decided to redraw some of my favorite manga panels. It turns out that the “proper" way to draw him heavily varies from panel to panel, so I'm feeling more confident in being able to draw him on my own now knowing that. I'm actually okay with how most of these sketches turned out. It's been so long since I shaded anything just using pencil. And these sketches are just in time for his birthday, so happy birthday, Hawks! :D

“Galaxy Cloak” (2nd vs. 1st edition)

I’ve been wanting to do more original artwork and practice with my watercolor pencils, so I drew and colored this. This is my 3rd time using watercolor pencils, so I still need to practice with them. The first drawing is actually my second attempt at the drawing--I didn’t like how the first attempt came out. Also my camera makes the texture in the drawings look very strange and grainier than usual, unfortunately. But I do think the second attempt came out a little better at least. I debated whether or not to even post these drawings, but I figured it would be nice to show people that you don’t always have to post perfect art all the time in order to be a “good” artist. I’ll have to keep practicing!
