If it's true that TR will end in just five chapters... I don't think we should blame Wakui at all
I really hate the manga industry. They hardly give creative freedom to their authors and it is well known that they "advise" them where to take their stories to bring more readers and, therefore, money. "Kill this character" "draw this differently" "change the ages so the audience can relate better". In the end, manga is part of an industry that only seeks money.
Wakui doesn't make the decisions for him, but they're made together with a team that won't hesitate to point out what to do to sell more.
So I can't blame him at all if he leaves any kind of plot holes. I assume there will be quite a few since five chapters? There is too much to tell, not only about the story but also about the characters themselves (sanzu for example)
I just wish people were a little understanding about this. Being exploited and having so much pressure on you shouldn't be easy
I don't think the story needs a happy ending or a sad one, nor a bitter one. I just think that TR deserves much more and I wish Wakui would've had the freedom to do whatever he wanted and expand on whatever he needed to tell us Takemichi's story.
Enduring mediocre salaries, social and editorial pressure, kidney pain and endless working hours without vacations should be more appreciated. Let's think that Wakui gave his best and stop talking about him as if he was just "the author" and not a person subjected to an unfair industry
Regardless of how it ends, I'll always cherish the story and all the people I've met through it, all the fics I've read, and all the laughs, memes, and fanarts. I think you're also part of TR for contributing to Takemichi's story
(i'm not going to argue with anyone about labor exploitation. if you're in favor of that shit and publishers messing with authors' creative freedom just ignore this. respecting a job isn't that hard, wakui deserves respect even if you doesn't like the manga)
