My 6 favorite things i watched read or played in 2024
6. Destiny 2
Frankly i haven't played in months but final shape was really good it also happens to be why I haven't felt the need to go back it was a perfect conclusion and left me feeling done with the franchise and im happy with where i ended my time with it and having not interacted with the game in several months i dont now if Bungie management has done anything overtly evil in that time so it gets to make the list this year
5. Balatro
You are not immune to propaganda you will play balatro. I have nothing to say that hasn't been said before it feels like it's the perfect version of itself fully realized no changes needed to take it from a 9 to a 10 balatro is just exactly what it wants to be. Its here because its just a little small which is perfect for what it wants to be but not for making my favorite things of the year.
4. Formula 1
Thats right watched includes sports bitch because its just another means to tell a story its more difficult because its not telling more capturing the story and that's beautiful it also helps that this was a great year for storylines with Mcleran becoming good for the first time in more than 15 years Ricciardo's and Sargent's mid season replacement Russell and Verstappen going at it at the end of the season and i completely forgot about Hamilton going to Ferrari so much drama its incredible and racing is just really cool brazil race is an all timer canada was incredible just a really good season to be my first.
3. Kill 6 billion Demons
A lot of these have critical thoughts behind them complet reasons and thoughts as to why they are the best things i read played or watched this year this its just really fucking cool. There is a fascinating plot endlessly engaging characters the world that could very well be my favorite part but really its just cool it by passes any critical thoughts with a roundhouse kick to the part of my brain that just wants to look at the pretty pictures and its more than willing to provide
2. Saga
I love saga for the total opposite reason i love K6BD its word characters and plot are the reason i read it its still bitching thats not why i show up that feeling i got when i read the compendium is unlike any other it engrossed me like immortal hulk and summit of the gods did last year it was the reason i love fiction an opportunity to crack open the writers brain and see the world as they do however reading it concurrently is a bitch and half il keep doing it but thats more in search of the way the compendium made me feel rather that because it incites that feeling.
1. Warhammer
Fuck you Dan
This is the reason the list is shorter than last year i didn't have any money to spend on my other hobbies because this one consumed all my disposable income I have fallen down the pipeline i always knew i was vulnerable to go down it start with one space marine now im 3 army deep(world eaters sisters stormcast) 8 month in the hobby 6 into Playing still haven't won a game. But man this hobby has been a miracle worker for my mental health and lack of social anything. Going out in person and talking to people works miracles on how nervous i am at pretty much all times and picking up a hobby that requires the time commitment Warhammer ask for has ment i spend less time on games that make me mad. But the real reason its so high is all the people this year who made me feel welcome in a community that online looks intimidating but turns out having to leave your home and talk to people in person keeps the incels away
