im a queer adult who is into dolls. ive been on dollblr before but its been years, and a lot of shit happened in my life since.... im currently getting back into dolls (and knitting / other crafting in miniature) as part of healing from bad shit i went through & rebuilding my life.

this is a sideblog, so i don't follow anyone from here, but you're welcome to dm, ask, reply, or @ me, regardless! im always looking for good friends and fun convos.

i like all kinds of dolls such as bjd and art dolls, but since i am broke i mostly have access to playline dolls & thrifting. im not a "collector", i more just do art with dolls and have fun with them. i also love horses so there might be some MLP or other horsey dolls and stuff occasionally, and miniature stuff in general.

my other passions than dolls, crafting and horses are lots of creative and nerdy stuff (gamedev & gaming, drawing, animation, 3D modelling, design, photography, music, etc) and human rights, mental health, saving the planet, history, culture, etc. my fav youtube channels are MyFroggyStuff and Tasting History.

I suck at IDing Barbies. I’ve tried using the fashiondollz website but can never find the dolls I’m looking for.

What are things you use to ID your Barbies? I get so many of them I need to find a more reliable way to do it, especially since some of them come with outfits from fashion packs.

how were u using fashiondollz? if im id:ing a doll without its outfit, i look up the face on fashiondollz, by browsing and clicking the facemold/s i think are right in the facemold gallery (by era, or by type) and browsing dolls on those face's pages to see if there's a match. (for example, ceo/generation girl face barbies from 2009-). i look at things like the shape of the mouth, the way the eyes are painted, etc to help get an overview quickly.

this is prob obvious but ofc you can also check the year stamps on the doll head (then the facemold gallery by era can be very quick to use). less useful when id:ing dolls one doesnt own or hasnt received yet.

if i cant find it from fashiondollz faces, i go to to a search engine and search whatever i can in image search - "80s barbie with red earrings", "2000s barbie with purple lips", "90s teresa barbie dolls", "2000s barbie with streak in her hair", etc, and browse pics to see if i can find any info that way. this can definitely be more tricky if ur barbie is very generic, so it might be more efficient to try figure out the facemold if theres no outstanding features to search for. but this is usually my first line of attack if i have anything at all to go on, it can be quicker than the facemold gallery.

if i have any clothes/accessories then i add that to my search since it tends to help a lot ("barbie with pink guitar", "barbie with heart necklace", "90s barbie with short green dress" etc).

i use barbiepedia sometimes to browse dolls from certain lines or certain years.

my last shot after that is asking the interwebs, bc it can be fun for others to help id dolls hahah. but obvs thats not necessarily fast or sustainable if ur id:ing a lot of dolls.

Her ears finally arrived a while back! I painted them and also changed her eyes again. I've decided her new name is Ramune! She just seemed like a Ramune when I put these eyes in.

I'm still trying different styles on her but I got this pretty dress for a steal at a local meetup! I wasn't sure who to put it on so I tried it on her. I'm not sure it's really her but it's sooo pretty. Seems to be from Angell Studio but I have no clue what the set is called.

disclaimer that blindboxes are evil garbage and ppl need to stop pushing kids into gambling addictions and acting like its normal But i treated myself to some tiny dogs since i got paid yesterday and i got the one i wanted most of the whole collection.. flocked fuzzy little baby and i love her

idk what exactly it is but in an unusual twist for me (except for the fact that i keep having unusual twists lately) ive fallen for a mini toy thats cartoony, not a dressup doll, and doesnt inspire me to craft....

i saw these at the grocery store and was like "wow, that somehow gives me nostalgic feelings and theyre kinda cute to look at" which i havent felt about like, lps, shopkins, or any similar mini toys in the modern age... most items in general in life do nothing for me, im very picky about design lol so thats why this is so weird to me

this is fucking me over bc i actually like them and want some of these (my least fav is the retrievers, idc about those, i think my fav is spaniel and poodle). they spark joy even if i dont really understand why they do. im thinking that its okay if i get a few of them since theyre so tiny (i need to not get more things that take up space) + they can be toys for my dolls, or maybe i can drill a hole and turn them into charms or something. i feel like, this is how other ppl felt about g2+ lps, but i was too old for that and dont have any personal connection to that style.

this is the nostalgic type of feeling these are giving me.... i dont mean that they look as good as g1 lps bc they dont, but somehow it just gave my inner child this feeling, something about the colours and obviously the size....

things i bought online yesterday (sales ads' pics).. i was looking for a brown-haired shelly/kelly originally like the chelsea i remember from my childhood, which i will keep an eye out for, and i dont usually have much interest in blonde blue eyed dolls. but something about the early 2000s shelly really grabbed me, her face is really sweet in that specific y2k barbie way, so i felt like getting her and knitting stuff for her (my main thing in whether im buying a doll or not is "do i feel inspired to craft stuff for this doll and/or to customise this doll? if not, why buy it?").

the 2nd shelly also just surprised me in how it grabbed me. shes really cute, the 90s style before the early y2k shelly. i felt like both of these would be fun to make clothes for.

i started knitting for my Struts today (finally yay) but what was going to be a legwarmer as an easy warmup project turned into a sweater sleeve bc it just looked like itd make a nice sweater so now thats happening i guess
