did you know cancer is the leading cause of death among native american people? Here's a link to donate to the American Indian Cancer Foundation
This couldn't stay in the tags. I shit you not, coal is responsible for more radioactive pollution than nuclear power. By two orders of magnitude.
Just by nature of how coal is processed, it contains some amount of radioactive material, comes from the ground just like everything else. The average coal plant, through its ash, will put more radiation into the atmosphere than 100 times what a nuclear plant of the same size would.
This is not because coal is especially radioactive, but due to the sheer volume of pollutants it produces, on top of how incredibly clean nuclear is. By the numbers, nuclear power is objectively cleaner and safer than literally all forms of fossil fuels. By every conceivable measure, fossil fuels are worse than nuclear. And not just a little, but by several orders of magnitude. Even by the measures you'd expect nuclear to be specifically worse in.
You want to know what's causing increases in American Indian cancer? It's probably fucking coal mining. And toxic waste dumping, and industrial pollutants, and agricultural chemicals. It's not fucking nuclear. Show me literally any study or academic article suggesting it's nuclear. PLEASE stop choking on fossil fuel propaganda. It's literally killing you.
As an indigenous person: why would someone defend coal and oil here on the basis of harminf indigenous people!?!?! Do you know nothing about anything!?!? Has the only information you've seen about the ways indigenous people are harmed by power generation made by coal and oil companies!?!? Did you not see the dsstruction of indigenous sacred sites and water contamination!? That shit still happens all the time, just because the media isn't paying attention as much as it was doesn't mean it isn't still happening!!!
