side benefit of communal all-gender restrooms is that they may be our best chance to shame cis men into washing their hands
i was in a communal all-gender restroom today and as i was washing my hands a middle-aged man came out of one of the stalls, started to make for the door, clocked me standing at the sinks, and changed course to wash his hands with a real hangdog look on his face
If you really think about it there is SO much the film changed from the book, SO much they also left out, literally most of the film is actually different, yet it WORKS! There's not a single book fan I know of who doesn't love and adore the film, and that is practically unheard of!
I've got to agree. They're like two perfectly complementary pieces. They work well together or apart.
Possibly its that very little in the movie directly contradicts the book? Or at least nothing hugely consequential? So you can kinda slot in the book details into the movie? (I know it took me multiple watches to notice that a bunch of things just weren't in the movie - my mind had filled the gaps for me so well.)
"our mother should have just named you laika"
Project Hail Mary + Neighborhood #2 (Laika) by Arcade Fire
You have to let your black queer friends know its ok to present as masculine.
You have to let the stud know that you don't see her as less of a woman. You have to let the transfem know you won't see her as a threat if she pauses in her performance for a moment. You have to let the transmasc know he won't be a threat in your eyes if he chooses black manhood. You have to let the black masc gay man that his presence is not a danger to everyone else, you have to let him know that he does not stick out, he is not unwelcome.
You have to let them all know, that their masculinity is not a threat to you. That they do not have to twist and warp themselves into a different version of themselves to be acceptably queer. To be 'safe'.
Part 1
Rocky may have been alone on his ship for 46 years but Adrian was grieving for 49 years so they get to be a little unhinged too as a treat.
“who’s your hear me out/crush?”
“you have to get married one day”
“you just haven’t found the right person yet”
love characters who are like "this is how the world works. this is how it has to be (because if i'm wrong i have to face what i've done // if i'm wrong i have to face whats been done to me) "
This trait is much more endearing in fiction than in my mother.
that's what I was gonna say aha
The 'ingredients you can pronounce means it's healthy' line implies a world in which the kind of nutrition a person requires scales with their biology education and grasp of phonics. Which isn't true, of course, but sure would imply some interesting worldbuilding if it were
ryland grace is aroace. ok..?
can't spell ryland grace without ace
he puts the ACE in SPACE and GRACE
WE yes WE believe in arograce.
and no misgendering a trans man/woman bc they’re problematic isn’t ok
it reinforces the idea that gender is a privilege, which is pretty ridiculous
one of my personal favorite tropes

cat laziness is so contagious. you'll see your cat flopped on its back in your bed a completely comfy cozy baby and you'll be like. you're right. you make a compelling argument.
Aroace culture is telling a friend you're aroace because you know they have a crush on you and then they later tell you they researched how to fix it, so after they leave you don't talk to them because now you're uncomfortable around them.
Also hope you're doing okay, and thank you for making this blog
