reminds me of this panel where dick was able to see past through bruce's volatile and cold action of firing him as an output of bruce's own fear and rejection of not being in control. it's a means and mechanism for bruce to protect himself so his first instinct went straight for push and poke literally at every edges testing ppl out searching for vulnerability and when he finds one... well he can just raise his hands in surrender "see? it's inevitable. dick eventually will leave me anyway might as well do it first 😋"

I said this and then read this utterly charming mostly-gen AU set shortly after Dick's arrival at the manor, where Bruce is doing magic downstairs. absolutely nails the children's fantasy voice with a little bit of something darker underneath, and Dick's POV is really perfect. and this is why you keep 92 open tabs!

god okay i loooovvveeeedddd the recurring plot point post-rebirth where it was constantly reiterated how guilty barry felt over forgetting wally. like he can't be faulted for not remembering a person who to that universe never even existed in the first place but in an awful roundabout way it is his fault because barry was the one to have broken the previous timeline to begin with. and like wally's in equal part his kid and a quote-unquote "better" flash than him, for a time the one and only person in the world that understood how it felt to have and use their powers, and now it's barry's fault that his life has essentially crumbled underneath his feet. and this is already an awesome premise but then it actually manages to improve itself when barry proceeds to bundle up all of this guilt and self-recrimination to take out on batman like the well-adjusted person he is at heart. friendship loses let's be toxic coworkers with one another and have these misplaced emotions escalate into a public fistfight <3
