"Call it...heat pheromones. Biochemical attractants– the real Batman reeks of them. You're almost...sterlie."
Selina, did you just call Bruce an omega??
I’m just gonna leave this here…
thinking again about that time tim broke into dick’s apartment in bludhaven and immediately started making fun of his home security the moment dick walked in the door
nightwing (1996) issue 6
and then the next time we see someone break into dick’s apartment (this time it’s a stranger trying to rob him) we find out that he has installed a human-sized glue trap in front of his home entertainment system (and coincidentally, right next to the window)
nightwing (1996) issue 12
this is a cartoonishly deranged thing for dick to put in his apartment as actual security but also i believe with my whole heart that this was meant for tim. this is cruel and unusual punishment for some random home invader but completely justified if it was actually meant to clown on one’s annoying younger brother all along
fanon depiction of dick and tim’s relationship being either pure fluff or pure melodramatic angst is so funny when their canon relationship is 30% emotional support, 10% gossip, 10% bickering over things that don’t matter and 50% beating each other up in a denny’s parking lot for shits and giggles
found the issue it’s nightwing (1997) annual #1 and they’re both so fucking stupid (affectionate) ❤️
I HAVE MORE CHAOS ENERGY TO ADD!
Also in this annual, Tim's best man at Dick's fake-wedding!
(True brotherly love: helping out when your pseudo-brother fake-marries a potential murderess. Look how serious Tim is taking this responsibility. I think his curled hand is guarding the wedding rings. Plus, imagine Dick and Tim shopping for those matching outfits.)
In more friendly violence, here's Tim visiting Dick's apartment in Blüdhaven (Nightwing 6):
Tim breaks in and hides in the dark, and Dick tackles and pins him. (It's how they say hello?)
Plus there's my all-time favorite, Gotham Knights 8, when Tim is trapped and Dick keeps shushing him:
(I think in the last panel Tim's doing a forearm block?)
More friendly violence in Legends of the Dark Knight 120:
PLUS there's that time in Robin 118 when they're worried someone might be watching them, so they fake a fight and it looks like this:
(before you cast doubt on their acting skills, though, consider this Actual Footage of Tim shouting at Bruce on a rooftop, and Dick doing the "I THROW UP MY HANDS AND STALK AWAY" pose)
they're dramatic morons and i love them. xD
one of my favorites (from Gotham Knights #9) is the pure chaos energy of Dick convincing Tim to sit around eating popcorn and joke with him while Bruce fights Hugo Strange on the roof of WE:
I’m mad that DC doesn’t write them like this anymore :(

Tim Drake Week
Rules | Playlist | Playlist Guide | AO3 Collection | Discord
Prompts: Day 1: "I lie to Batman" | Friendship | Young Just Us Day 2: Accidental Sibling Acquisition | Hope | Wing AU Day 3: Family | Neglect | Identity Crisis Day 4: Training | Touch Starvation | Time Travel Day 5: Red Robin | "Skill issue." | Tim Drake's Missing Spleen Day 6: Rescue | Truth Serum | Camera Day 7: FREE PROMPT | Skateboard | Identity Reveal Alternate Prompts: Bird, Hurt/Comfort, Coffee/Energy Drinks
Tim Drake Week will run January 5th - 11th, 2026!
Each day, you are invited to create something (fanfic, fanart, meta, moodboards, poetry, etc.) based on one, two, or three of the prompts for that day. If you would like, you can substitute one of the Alternative Prompts, which can be used on any day. The final day has a "Free Prompt," which you can use to create something about Tim Drake without following any prompt. You do not have to do every day to participate, you can combine days, and you can do multiple works per day if you would like!
In general, you can interpret each prompt however loosely you want, and for quote prompts, you definitely don't have to use the exact quote. Each prompt also has a song corresponding to it in the playlist. There is also a playlist guide so that you can know what songs there are if you don't use Spotify.
If you post on Tumblr, you can use the tag #timdrakeweek2026 or @ this blog (@tim-drake-week). There's also the AO3 Collection (Tim_Drake_Week_2026). This blog will reblog all posts that I see in the tag or that @ me.
For your filtering, this blog will tag reblogs with #reblogs, the day, the prompt(s), media type, any non-Tim characters, any romantic or sexual ships (with full character name/full character name as it would appear on AO3, as well as the ship name if I know it), and any warnings. Anything explicit will be tagged #explicit. Example: #reblogs #day 4 #touch starvation #bernard dowd/tim drake #timbern #bernard dowd. Please filter out tags you don’t want to see.
Because I am not able to read/see every work posted (due to time constraints and personal boundaries), some warnings or characters may be untagged if they are not in the original post’s tags.
Have fun creating!
Debunking misconceptions regarding Tim Drake entering the family/passing of Robin mantle after Jason's death
1) It was a few months (not weeks) after Jason's death before Tim approached the Waynes
Estimated time would be around six months but it wasn't immediate.
2: TIM ORIGINALLY NEVER WANTED TO BE ROBIN.
the idea of him taking up the mantle never crossed his mind. All Tim wanted to do was just to help Batman. He literally said it himself that once Bruce was helped, he was out of there and how he never wanted Robin.
He originally went looking for Dick Grayson and asked him to be Robin again bc Bruce was spiraling.
3: Some people think that the "Batman was out of control and needed a Robin" statement was BS and...
it is if you just take it a face-value. but if you add more to that original statement it holds some truth.
What is true?? Bruce actually was out of control. He was spiraling with grief and self-blame.
What is false? He needs a robin.
well tbf, it is true... but not in the way fanon portrays it.
He didn't need Tim to take care of him. NOPE, quite the opposite actually. What Bruce needed was to take care of another child. He needed was someone to let him be Bruce Wayne again. Because that's what his kids are to him; they are the reason why Bruce Wayne didn't 'die in the alleyway' so to speak.
He needed someone to give him a reason to not be Batman 24/7 and to be Bruce Wayne again. He needed someone to take care of because it forced him to be gentle, to be careful, to not be reckless because a child was now looking up to him and they needed his guidance/support.
When Jason died, Bruce felt no need to be Bruce anymore. He felt no need to live and was willing to loose his himself into Batman. (expanded more in point 7)
This panel below literally says it perfectly. Him being a father and him having kids is also the reason why the 'Bruce Wayne is a mask' take is absolute BS. Brucie is the mask sure, but Bruce? no
^^(this panel above is from Batman #600)^^
4: Tim did not just take the Robin suit and just randomly insert himself with no reason
He went and asked Dick to be Robin again because he believed that Batman needed a Robin and that Bruce's spiral was hurting the Gotham. He saw Batman and Robin as legends; as something to look up too and he felt that Bruce becoming more violent was hurting that image
Anyway, Dick told Tim no and sent him to the Batcave...
...and leaves.
The reason he leaves was because he doesn't want to be Robin again
5: Alfred was NOT the one who gave Tim the suit
Piggybacking off of Point 4, we like to say that Alfred was the one who gave Tim the suit so it's Alfred's fault.
not really...
Alfred did take the suit out yes, but he was fully against Tim going out in it.
Tim, being Tim, decided to go out (NOT BC HE WANTED TO BE ROBIN but bc he was worried)
6: Alfred is not responsible for Bruce's spiral into grief, so we can't blame Alfred for what happened after Jason died.
like listen... is Alfred due for some hate? yeah. but before you start hating on Alfred READ THE FREAKING COMICS.
if Alfred deserves any hate its prob early-Alfred bc of the fact that he distanced himself from Bruce and maintained a employer-employee relationship with young Bruce when the kid needed a parent.
BUT that has been addressed later by Alfred HIMSELF in the comics so... ✨character growth✨ ig lol
^^(Panel above from Batman: Dark Victory 1999 #9) ^^
you can also hate him when he is written to be horrible.
but this??? saying he's at fault for Bruce spiraling? And that because he didn't stop Bruce from going out, its his fault--that take is absolute BS
HE TRIED.
HE TRIED SO DAMN HARD TO GET BRUCE TO STAY HOME.
He was worried. Every night Bruce came home one step closer to death. Every night he had to stitch Bruce up, bandage every wound and broken bone, wondering if one night, Bruce would die out there one night and not be able to come back home ever. Every night he had to play nurse to a suicidal, grieving father while he himself was grieving.
He tried...
...but Bruce didn't listen and we can't blame Alfred for that.
7: In the end of the day, Bruce was a grieving father. And grief manifests itself differently for each person
And we can't blame Bruce at all. We need to realize how traumatizing the experience was for him.
He held the broken corpse of his son in his arms and he has to live with the guilt, the self-blame, forever. It's his parents' death all over for him except this time... this time it's his kid. It's his little Jay. And grief is different for everyone.
For Bruce, he avoids the Wayne Manor bc the silence is deafening. The space where a little boy used to laugh and read books, its all gone now. Jason is dead. So Bruce goes out every night to avoid the ghost of his son. He goes out every night to avoid the silence in the manor that should never have been there. Because Jason was supposed to be home, supposed to be up working on history reports and rambling about his grades. But he isn't there because Jason is dead.
And Bruce blames himself for it. And so he goes out every night to avoid (which is, in fact part of the "DENIAL" stage in the 5 Stages of Grief) and he let his pain and rage out into his hits, growing more violent every night, losing himself in the grief.
(also saying that this is enabled by Alfred, Tim, or Dick is so stupid. None of them had any power over Bruce and if anything, they tried their best to help B out.)
8: Tim took the suit, not for himself, but because he wanted to make sure that Dick and Bruce were alright.
so Tim Drake haters like to say that he should have never taken the suit or gone out as Robin but they completely miss out on what happened next...
if Tim didn't take the suit last night and hadn't gone out then both Dick and Bruce would have DIED
AND to add on to that...
Tim was also the reason they even won that night.
To add to that, Tim was fully content with not being Robin again
Bruce:
Tim's reply:
But after Bruce hesitantly agrees, Tim takes it with maturity
9: In-universe, Bruce never intended to replace Jason with Tim. In OUR world though? The writers definitely replaced Jason with the intent of making a more richer model (classism)
In universe Bruce was originally hesitant/against the idea to take Tim in but after listening to both Dick and Alfred (and bc of point #7) he was willing to give him a shot.
Tim's introduction irl??? That's different. Was his introduction in our world good? No. Not one bit.
The writers were definitely classist and hated Jason (whats worse was that they weren't even trying to hide it 😭)
His death was a guarantee (they were originally planning on giving Jason HIV/AIDS) but they decided to 'let the fans decide' whether to kill him off in Ethiopia or not. But I feel like even if the fans decided to spare Jason, the writers would have found a way killed him off eventually. (prob with the HIV/AIDS storyline)
Some Tim Drake haters also like to bring up how Tim was the 'first one to victim blame Jason for his death'
and here's the thing...
regardless of what is happening in the comics, we have to remember that its the writers that deserve the hate not the characters. Also originally Tim actually looked up to Jason
^^(panel above is from Detective Comics 618)^^
But then eventually writers started putting their biases and opinions into the story.
We need to remember that the victim blaming is done BY THE WRITERS. The characters can only go as far as the writing. Writers hated Jason so they projected it onto the characters and spun up a whole 'angry Robin' narrative that was never originally there to justify their hate.
TL;DR:
READ THE COMICS
lol but really, its important that 1) we dont just assume and 2) we dont just hate without reason.
Hating Tim, Alfred, Bruce, or even Dick for what happened in this comic is dumb bc what was happening was way more complex and it requires emotional intelligence to understand that
grief was a running theme post-DITF for Bruce and he blames himself for what happened to Jason
Alfred and Dick tried to stop him but they too were hurting and Bruce even more so
without Tim, the Wayne Family would have collapsed
They needed Tim. Bruce needed Tim. He needed another child to look after. He needed someone to force him to be Bruce Wayne again. He needed someone to give him a reason to not be Batman 24/7. And Tim did his part pretty well. With Tim in Bruce's life he had a reason now to be gentle, to be toned-down, to not let himself spiral because a child was looking up to him now and needed a mentor/parent.
Also don't listen to the fanfics/fandom, Bruce literally adopted Tim on the spot. he never stopped praising him and telling him he was proud of him and he was NEVER cold/distant to Tim. the only reason he didnt adopt Tim immediately was because Jack and Janet were still alive. (also the mischaracterization of Tim's parents is so bad. they were never abusive. Neglectful? sure a little. but they have always loved Tim)
ALSO!!! STOP HATING CANON TIM WHEN ITS REALLY FANON TIM THAT DESERVES THE HATE!
Plus, if you're gonna hate Tim, him becoming Robin is the last thing to hate him for. And please, Tim Drake haters, at least do some research and hate him properly lol
(all panels, unless stated otherwise, are from Batman: A Lonely Place of Dying)
the D.A.R.E. kid pipeline is very very real
