hello! i want to encourage people who wish to have more fun with their self ships. today i suggest something fun!
why not engage in a bit of roleplay? making text messages, discord conversations, or even twitter posts!
there's a lot you can do with them, you can write them for yourself, you can use them to practice writing for your f/o. or you can use them for aus! like maybe a modern au or one where you and your f/o are rivals? or you can use them as reminders over how much your f/o loves you! its completely up to you. there's a lot you can do and the best part? its completely free! so you can use it as much as your heart desires!
its quick, its easy, and you have full control of how you want the conversation to flow. give it a shot and if you want to share it with me, you're more than free to do so! 🩷 i listed some examples of how they look like on the site and how easy it is!
ifaketextmessage + fakechatmaker + tweetgen
thank you for reading and i hope you enjoy! take care of yourself! 🎀

i have two blogs @vampyrhe (where i mainly talk about vampires, horror and 80s movies.) and @catiwoman (where i mainly talk about dc comics and marvel.) on this blog ( @glametalover ) i mostly just repost, but sometimes i might talk about bands/singers i like
feel free to interact, even if we don't have any common interests!!
i love 80s movies (stand by me, the outsiders, back to the future trilogy, the lost boys, dirty dancing, elvira, etc), metal/rock n roll (queen, linkin park, korn, system of a down, dokken, quiet riot, dio, black sabbath, judas priest, etc) and old hollywood!!
to be honest i just love answering questions in general as long as they're not tooooo invasive
if anything just ask about my selfships and self inserts (even tho i have barely posted about them yet) and my favs/fav things in general, i'd love to yap about those :D
i definitely need to make an one piece selfship side blog
but people would have to keep up with me and my 94839393 one piece selfships because i managed to squeeze my a lot of fav characters into my s/i's lore ;P
hiii my name is eden, im 20 years old, she/he. 🧜♂️
im multifandom but here on this blog i'll talk mostly about dc comics and marvel. i might mention my ocs/self-inserts sometimes. i have another blog ( @vampyrhe ) where i mainly talk about vampires, horror and 80s movies.
do you guys also refer to your self-insert characters in the third person and call them by name (in case they don't have the exact same name as yours)? like, yes the character is literally me and she does have a name inspired by my name, but since it's not the exact same name as mine (and lowkey even if it was), i have the habit of referring to her in the third person as if she's a completely different person when she's like LITERALLY ME
i'm loving to read everyone's take on this!!! i was confused at first on how to refer to my s/i's because it felt way too weird and self-indulgent (even tho i am very self-indulgent most of the times dhsjenfj) but at the same time i didn't know if i should refer to them in the third person because i didn't know if people did that and i didn't know if it was gonna be weird because they're not exactly ocs even tho they go through different experiences than mine and have a slightly different name (that's kinda based off of my own tbh) and they're more of a idealized version of myself than actually 100% me but at the same time yes they're literally me idk it sounds confusing but it makes perfect sense in my head. and like one of you said, don't be fooled, those bitches are pieces of my soul in another world lol
anyway those replies helped me a lot to feel more comfortable overall in here and idk it just made me very happy cause i feel like i'm finally in a safe space and in the right place i was looking for this whole time idk 😭 i felt and identify with basically every single one of the things you guys said
i just wish i knew how to reply directly to each of them because i'm kinda in a very yappy mood, but tumblr still confuses me a lot, i'm still getting the hang of it so i think this here is all i can offer for now 😭
ok another very important question, what are you guys' thoughts on fanfics in the script/screenplay format?
(TL;DR WARNING BELOW)
i know they are not everyone's cup of tea and they can be very messy if the platform they're posted on doesn't have options for some proper formatting or doesn't allow them to at least post screenshots of the script, and yes i also know that technically scripts are meant to be used by actors and directors and producers and yadda yadda yadda but imo they can be SOOOOOOO DAMN FUN if done right???? am i hallucinating or
LIKE, my post-grad most recent assignment has us writing a script (min 1 page, max 5 pages) about anything we want as long as it's properly formatted and creative and etc, and we literally had a Narrations & Scripts class for that for the whole trimester. that made me start studying a LOOOOT about screenplays and the wonders and joys and whimsies of writing scripts and also researching a lot and trying out a zillion different platforms and i must say i'm currently very obsessed with the world of scripts and screenplays, might be a new special interest incoming 😭
anyway, i got so obsessed my brain is buzzing 24/7 telling me to write a bunch of different scripts for the 93839283 fanfics and original stories i have in my head and send them to my friends because i'm too much of a coward to post anything, so i started thinking that it could be a good idea to write all the things i've been wanting to write in yeaaars (but couldn't because of ugh writers block) in a screenplay format to see if it can get me to snap out of this damn block and finally get some writing done once and for all even if i end up not showing anyone
it even crossed my mind to maybe post one of them somewhere someday or at least just send to my closest friends, but i made the mistake of googling about fanfics written in the screenplay format to see some examples and i came across some reddit and quora posts of people asking others for their opinions on them and oh my god they were 97% filled with a looooot of negative opinions about it and some of them were pretty aggressive, shitting on screenplay formatted stuff 😭
i got immediately discouraged, ngl. there were a bunch of people in there yapping about how they HATE IT and about it's an instant click back for them and how it sucks to read and they can't get into it and about how scripts are meant only for actors and directors and producers and etc for them to use it to perform or make a show/movie/play/etc about it and not for people to read them and also how nobody wants to read a script and about how it's "lazy writing" (which makes absolutely no sense to me because scripts take a TON OF EFFORT to be written) and about how it's NOTHING compared to prose and reading the script is not the same thing as watching someone perform (maybe some of them have aphantasia? idk, but like how can they picture a prose in their head perfectly but not a script where you literally have all the setting of a scene in it? idk anyway) and, I KID YOU NOT, some of them were literally SHITTING ON MOTHERFUCKING SHAKESPEARE for how his works are published in a script format and not prose and they can't get into it because of that
so yeah as i said i got pretty discouraged because it seemed so fun in my head at first when i thought about writing that way, it seemed like a really refreshing and creative different way to write and read things (i even read some fanfics written in that format and god did i love them, it was a very fun and refreshing experience, i could picture every scene in my head so perfectly like i was watching a movie), but then i found out apparently almost everyone completely hates it to their souls so i got really mehh and insecure to even send it only to my closest friends that usually read my stuff and react very well to it if i end up writing something :P
anyway just wanted to know people's opinions in here as well before i end up fully giving up on it
do you guys also refer to your self-insert characters in the third person and call them by name (in case they don't have the exact same name as yours)? like, yes the character is literally me and she does have a name inspired by my name, but since it's not the exact same name as mine (and lowkey even if it was), i have the habit of referring to her in the third person as if she's a completely different person when she's like LITERALLY ME
I split both my first and middle names onto two characters, although I consider one of them more as an oc and the other more as a self-insert. However, I do refer to both of them in third person 💅🏼
i wish there was a way to reply to someone who reblogged your post and added their own take cause i always be like hi omg i relate to what you said too let's hug LIKE PLEASE I WANNA YAP MOREEEEEE
