Reminder that Stonewall wasn’t about marriage equality. Stonewall was about police brutality. It was about systemic abuse and subordination. Stonewall was spearheaded by black trans women. As we celebrate Pride 2020, within the context of the Black Lives Matter riots, it’s imperative that we remember that.

Riots in protest of police brutality are the reason that we have more rights today. Do not forget your roots.

You can’t celebrate Pride while simultaneously condemning the Black Lives Matter riots and protests that are happening right now. Know your history.

If you’re LGBT and you have OCD, it is common (and according to my therapist, almost expected) to have periods when you feel you’re faking your sexual orientation and/or gender identity, and to think you have somehow convinced yourself you’re not cis and/or not straight when you actually are. That’s just a symptom of OCD. Your sexuality is not fake, your gender is not fake. You are what you are. You’re ok. You’re enough.

There’s an entire sub-type of OCD that explicitly deals with constantly questioning your sexuality. Obviously, this can also overlap with ASD/ADHD. If you spend hours compiling evidence and life experience to “prove” you’re not faking it years after you came out, know that it’s most likely a compulsion and should be treated accordingly.
