Hello scummies ( ´ ▽ ` )ﾉ You might have seen this on Twitter already but in case you haven’t, this is my humble translation of the new extras from the CN hardcover release of svsss🥳

It’s by no means perfect, so feel free to share your thoughts, your feedback really helps me improve!

There are seven parts to this + afterword by mxtx! I’ll be updating one part a day (hopefully)~ Parts 1-3 have been translated as of this post and I will continue updating in the next couple of days!

an interesting linguistics find! so I'm reading this text from 1908 and it keeps referencing "hp" in the context of "not being at full hp" "applying your full hp to a task" etc

and I'm like....... okay that is a perfectly normal way to describe energy and reads totally clear to me, but I KNOW you don't mean hit points/health points which is the first place my brain goes, so what are YOU using hp to mean

and it's not explained in-text, which means it was common enough to not warrant explanation to the 1908 audience, so gotta look elsewhere

and I'm absolutely FASCINATED that a commonly used initialism from 1908 now stands for something different AND YET the contextual meaning is still the same to a 21st-century reader

I hate the gymbro side of the internet because a lot of it is extremely toxic but I once saw a gymbro meme that was like “befriending the local trans guy so I can steal his testosterone” and I think that’s hilarious and a great plot idea for a movie. I want to write a book called “your character dies in the woods” that details all the pitfalls and dangers of being out on the road & in the wild for people without outdoors/wilderness experience bc I cannot keep reading narratives brush over life threatening conditions like nothing is happening.

I just read a book by one of my favorite authors whose plots are essentially airtight, but the MC was walking on a country road on a cold winter night and she was knocked down and fell into a drainage ditch covered in ice, broke through and got covered in icy mud and water.

Then she had a “miserable” 3 more miles to walk to the inn.

IN CASE you don't know why this is bad and would like to bc you aren't a stupid reactionary weirdo:

rape and child molestation have historically been the accusation leveled against any group the group in power doesn't like, exactly because it's a heinous accusation that makes people lose their critical thinking abilities

this includes: gay people being painted as child molesters, black men lynched for allegedly molesting white women, and many more examples.

it is crucial that people will twist the meaning of words to fit the situation. if a black man looks too long at a white woman it is flirting, which is basically the same as molestation. a gay person existing near a child is a sex crime against children, because being gay is inherently sexual. and so on.

when conservatives say "protect the children", this is a dogwhistle. they are counting on you to lose your critical thinking because sex crimes, especially those against children are so heinous.

it is also crucial that these laws NEVER come from an actual intent to protect children/women. the real intent is always, ALWAYS weaponizing it against marginalized groups.

why? because once you have a created a group you can act in inhumane ways towards with full support from the populace (in this case, pedophiles and rapists), it is now in the state's vested interest to classify its opponents as part of that group.

7. note how the people advocating for harsher laws/sentences against pedophiles keep being outed as actual child abusers.

if the laws and sentences actually worked to stop child abuse, rather than being a smokescreen, they wouldn't advocate for them. if these people thought for one moment that they would be chemically castrated, they wouldn't support it. it's always about the imagined harm others might do, to distract from the real harm they're doing.

also the most famous victim of chemical castration? alan turing. you know, the gay guy, whose crime was being gay, not hurting kids
