My new conditioner says it’s gluten free… I’m not sure if I eat it or what. It’s fucking conditioner not bread.
That's because some people can be topically sensitive to gluten as well. Like me! ^.^

So the clinic I go to (because until very recently I did not have insurance and could not afford a doctor) offered to set me up with a free appointment with a nutritionist. That appointment was today.
She was super nice, but she’s wanting to put me on a gluten free diet (leaving it totally up to…
Can I just point out that gluten free is NOT a “fad diet.” It’s something that is necessary to a certain population of people that people have decided to make a trend. It makes me feel annoyed when people call a lifestyle that is important to my overall health a “fad diet.” Like my health is a fad. I know this is unnecessary on your personal post so I’ll give you some advice as well. Don’t go on a gluten free diet, don’t seek out alternatives to wheat. Eat healthful nutrient rich food, watch your calories, be happy. If you want to lose weight and have more energy, look at the nutrients in your foods and see what’s missing. Eat more things with nutrients you’re missing. Drink a lot of water. That’s the best lifestyle I can offer for someone who wants to lose weight and be healthy.
Thank you for the input! I’m sorry if I offended; that definitely was not my intention! I recognize that a gluten free lifestyle is necessary for a lot of people, but for many it isn’t, and for that reason it’s become something of a “fad”. I don’t have any known gluten allergies, but I’m being advised by a nurse to drop gluten altogether, and she believes everyone should do this, and I’m not sure that’s really the way to go about it UNLESS you have a gluten allergy/some other medical reason why you need to go off gluten.
But see, calling it a "fad" perpetuates the idea that it IS a fad and that it's not something to be taken seriously. It says that this is something that will die out in a few months just as those snap bracelets or the bracelets shaped like animals. And that affects people who do need to be on this diet medically because it means we have to qualify why we live a gluten free lifestyle. It means that if I meet a cute guy and I say "Oh I'm gluten free" I will be met with an eye roll rather than a more appropriate response. Sorry for ranting like that but it's just really frustrating to me. And yes, I wholeheartedly believe that nurse should NOT be recommending going gluten free unless it's medically necessary because it is NOT a healthful dietary solution for most people. I don't disagree with you on that, the only thing I disagree with is calling gluten free a fad.

November 25, 2013 (written on November 26, 2013)
So I forgot to write yesterday but here goes: I didn't weigh myself, and I did really well throughout the day. I ate under ma calorie count until we got to tv watching. I then splurged again. This is an issue and I need to resolve it. I'm still not sure why I keep having extra calories that I know and am aware of NOT needing. Argh! It makes me so frustrated. Today will be better. I promise myself this. I'm going to be really strict today, I swear. I must get back into the mindset I was in before. I did not weigh myself yesterday or today so I'll make sure to do that tomorrow so I don't lose sight of what I'm doing.
Drink Water!
Holy crap, if I could give one piece of advice to anyone it would be to drink water like it is your job. I drank almost three whole 1.5 litre bottles of water one night and dropped a whole two pounds of water weight the next morning. You'll never know your true weight if you retain so much water. Drink water so your body doesn't think it needs to retain it! I'm currently trying to finish my water bottle before I sleep but this water doesn't taste as good as the water I normally get. (Can't drink tap water here, it's okay~ to drink but not recommended.)
My First Follower!
Hey, thanks for following me! This is a sideblog on my main blog, so I can't do followbacks. But I really appreciate you following me! :]
Meal Tip!
My favorite meal is Bibimbap!
Bibimbap is a Korean meal that literally means "mixed rice." It's traditionally lots of prepared vegetables (some raw, some cooked, always tossed with garlic and sesame seeds/oil,) a bit of rice, some protein, and a fried egg topped with 'gochujang' or a spicy red pepper paste (if you have Celiac, make sure to get the one that is made with rice.)
I tend to prepare the vegetables on the weekends, and cook a big batch of rice and then for meals, I'll assemble it rather easily. If it's what I call a "lunch portion," I'll use a half cup of brown rice, half cup of each of the veggies, one tablespoon of gochujang, and one fried egg. That will keep me full and happy for many hours and on long days, it's great. If I'm having it for dinner, I generally have a cup of brown rice, half cup of each of the veggies, one tablespoon of gochujang and two fried eggs because I need more protein. Sometimes I'll put in leftover shrimp or salmon from a previous night's dinner and only put in one egg. I just need more protein and am trying to find ways to incorporate it.
If you'd like to try making bibimbap yourself, just google it for a recipe that sounds good to you! You can edit the types of vegetables to ones you enjoy. I generally have beansprouts, carrots, zucchini, cucumber and spinach. When I run out of one veggie, I sometimes throw in some fresh greens for more bulk.
November 24, 2013
Today I was okay until I got home after working on a group project. I ate a healthy dinner of tofu on greens but then when my parents and I sat down to watch Doctor Who I ended up splurging and eating a ton of cheese doodles and dried squid and a few pieces of nougat. I honestly don't know why I am adapting this bingeing habit because honestly, that isn't what got me to this place. What got me here was a love of carbs and huge meals. I had never been one to binge, honestly. I just ate too much at every meal and rarely exercised. There are deeper issues at work here, I'm thinking. Every time I get to this point, down to breaking 180, I end up slipping. I don't know why but I need to break past this, get to 179 and I think my issues will resolve themselves. I just need to have resolve.
Also, this Friday we're having a Thanksgiving dinner. I'm thinking I'll eat very minimal calories through the day and save them all for dinner that way I don't feel awful and guilty. I can deal with hunger, and water is great for helping me feel full so I know I can do it.
Hi. This is the introduction to MY Journey to Getting Fit
Hi. I'm Bee. (That's not my real name but it'll have to do.) I'm 5'1" and currently weigh 181~ pounds. About two and a half months ago, I weighed 205 pounds. I've been intensely calorie counting, and working in exercise when my schedule would allow for it. I am a busy student and I live in Asia. The past few days, I have slipped and eaten over my calorie count immensely and I feel the need to rededicate myself to getting fit. Thus, I will be attempting to blog out my journey to fit.
I will not be using "thinspiration" as I find that not at all inspiring. My inspiration comes from others who have gone from horribly overweight/obese/fat and worked to become healthful individuals. Those are the people that I hope to emulate.
My goal weight is currently 115 pounds but I will reevaluate when I am much closer and when I hit that goal.
So here I am, dedicating myself to blogging out everything about what I'm doing to get fit. I'll post recipes of healthy things I discover, emotional stress, celebrate scale victories and non scale victories, and hopefully connect.
Also, I eat gluten free because I have Celiac disease so any recipes I post will be gluten free.
