Post-canon Destiel, Dean is focused on the fact that Cas is in love with him, yes, but also that Cas hasn’t been happy. His brilliant plan with no ulterior motives whatsoever is to offer to kiss him. Once. For his happiness. Because getting a kiss from someone you love makes people happy, right?

Cue them making out while Dean breathes out excuses about “making Cas happy” between kisses.

Then, of course, every time Cas “seems down” (so just whenever Dean feels like it) he offers to “cheer him up”, and they end up making out again. Rinse and repeat.

Every time Dean and Cas break up, instead of getting a new haircut or watching tv, while eating tons of ice cream, Cas goes out to kill corrupt authorities (homophobic pastors, conservative senator and his team, djinn police officer). It's a relaxing activity for him.

The more I think about it the more I get certain that s13-15!Dean wouldn't encourage Cas to flirt with women. I think by this time in the show, Dean fully considers Cas his life partner, he feels like they made unspoken vows to belong to each other. Like if Dean doesn't get to sleep with women, then Cas shouldn't get to do that either. Of course they never talked about that, and of course Cas didn't ask Dean to stop hooking up with other people, Dean chose that himself. All of these promises and restrictions only exist in Dean's head, but it wouldn't stop Dean from feeling truly and utterly betrayed if Cas chose to date someone.

dean does that old-person thing of making sure cas has everything before he leaves somewhere. like he does it everytime, and cas just plays along with it (he left with his phone dead once and dean hasn’t let it go since.)

Do you ever think about how Cas loved dean so much, so so much that it bled into his personality to an extent that when jack connected to him on a cosmic level as a father, it was impossible to know Castiel without knowing dean Winchester, impossible to love Castiel without loving dean Winchester?

Yellow fever but Cas is there for Dean to cling to for comfort. The LARP episode but Cas is there for Charlie to dress him up as he awkwardly stands there and recites his lines in monotone. Dog Dean afternoon but Cas is there for Dean to nuzzle up to. Sonny’s episode but Cas is there for all the staff to mistake him as Dean’s boyfriend. Fan Fiction but Cas is there to longingly stare at Castiel and Dean’s actors being close, and compliment the play, much to Dean’s annoyance. Teenage Dean episode but Cas is there for Dean to have an embarrassing crush on. Regarding Dean but Cas is there for Dean to have an amnesiac crush on. Lebanon but Cas is there to have beef with John. Last Holiday but Cas is there to celebrate the holidays with the family, and have his own birthday party.

Important to Cas characterization is that he desperately wants someone to tell him what to do but will never ask for it if he senses that he won’t like the answer.

Dean wears a bajillion layers at all times, but every so often there'd be a glimpse of it in a scene. Sometimes the whole handprint. Sometimes just the edge. Times where Dean is wearing short sleeves or changing outfits or whatever

There'd be YouTube videos of compilations featuring the times the handprint appeared and long gifsets on tumblr with all the clips and their episode numbers

someone has definitely made this connection before but i'm gonna discuss it anyway......

you know the trench coat? THAT trench coat, the one the angel wears? those are his wings.

castiel is hardly ever without it. the only times we really see him on screen not wearing it is when he's not an angel (when castiel is thrust from his vessel, the first thing jimmy novak does is take the trench coat off. in season seven, castiel sheds it after releasing the leviathan, and he becomes the amnesiac enamuel).

everyone talks about the importance of dean keeping the trench coat throughout season seven, but given the context it only makes sense dean was the one who was able to give cas back his wings. to "redeem" him, more or less, even if it was just to help sam. and god bless him, cas puts it on– bloody and grimy and stained– and wears it anyway.

Dean actually comes up with increasingly ridiculous reasons to get Cas in his room around bed time so he can fall asleep knowing Cas is there because he sleeps so good when he knows Cas is watching over him, let's talk about this case, yeah lemme just stretch out on my bed, I'm just resting my eyes, very satisfied snoring... Cas just rolls his eyes and decides to rearrange Dean's guns by some arbitrary system (again) or read all of his books (again) until Dean wakes up
