well after going back and forth with the senior editor of this lil publishing house for WEEKS about how much she loves me as a freelancer and how she wants to put together a contract to get me more involved and brainstorming work I can do and then actually DOING some very cool work the last couple weeks and getting paid quite a nice hourly wage for it

this morning she hits me with the update that the contract is being written and just to let her know if I go over 40 hours between now and December 31

like if I go over 40 hours. total. in the next seven months

soooo guess a bitch will not deactivate her gotdammed linkedin emails just yet

I'm attempting to be an adult and think through how to ~handle this and like I should probably get on the phone with this lovely woman I've spoken to many times and clarify, how was my understanding of what we were working toward so far off from reality, is there an actual possibility of anything steady with them ever, what by the way does she think I can actually do of all the stuff we've discussed with a total of one week's worth of work for the next seven months and then does she just want to not hear from me ?? ??

but I am not going to do any of that! because I actually really like this work and this press and this woman and I do want to do more of it. and I sincerely believe seeming confused or ungrateful or not game is all a good way to get Even Less Work And Therefore Money. this is not about this woman or this situation but, you know, this world. like does anyone have work or money. much less work that doesn't make them want to die. in this way am I not still lucky lucky lucky lucky
