I know that I am difficult to see
I’ve got worlds buried down inside of me
But I say wait love
In 50 years we’ll have all that we need
I am a grower of trees

A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist.

Placer gold under 400x magnification.
I brought home some dirt from the Randburg claim last month and I finally had some time to pan it out last week. Only 0.037g this time, roughly $6 of placer gold.

We went out to the crash site again last Friday and found more parts of the plane. We also found an old copper plated bathroom token. It’s crazy to think it might have belonged to one of the passengers. These parts were much deeper, 10” plus deep. I used my new M9 coil on the Manticore this time, I think it really helped.
A few of us went out metal detecting at the 73 year old crash site of Flight 416 West, which went down on April 18, 1952. After some careful searching, I was able to recover a few small pieces of the wreckage, buried about six inches below the surface.
Our club has a monthly metal detecting show-and-tell, so I decided to go all out. I did a bunch of research on the crash and put together a 17-page report, created a repeating two minute video photo collage, and arranged all the recovered parts in a small wooden box. I even cut a handkerchief down to size and hemmed it to use as a the display box liner.
I entered it in both “Best Presentation”, and “Most Unusual” categories, and it won BOTH! I was told it was the first time anyone had ever won in two different categories with a single entry.
The prize was one ounce of fine silver, currently worth about $92

I’m back working on a cabinet/cart build today. I was sick all last week but I still got a few days in before it really took hold and it got hard to breathe.
I picked up some used organizers from a closed hardware shop a few years back. I’m making a garage cabinet on wheels to keep them all in. I have a ton of nuts, bolts, and screws from years of projects and I inherited a bunch more when my father stoped working on stuff. I’m going to break another generational curse and organize all this crap!
