Some photo edits I did a while back of Remmick without the watermark for my Widgetsmith layout on my phone. The only new one Ive done is the third one (@scrprints inspired me to try my hand at a monochromatic version of that picture too).
You can use them for whatever you want, credit isn’t required but appreciated ^^ if you use them and wanna tag me go for it I’d love to see what you do with them. All I ask is that you don’t repost them/claim them as your own.
A fic of Edward Nashton, living in Gotham and riding the train home when he sees and is enamoured with you.
Rain. Nothing but rain. This deluge of water from the sky seemed to have long plagued the city of Gotham now, battering thick and heavy drops of water against the skyscrapers that loomed over the city. Edward could not remember the last time he made the journey home without being soaked from head to toe, each night he walked to the subway and at either side of his journey the rain always seemed to follow him. Although Edward did not care to remember many things about his life anymore, the weather being such a trivial aspect meant that it could have snowed in July for all he cared and he still would not have noticed.
It was the same old routine once again, arriving at work and pouring over numbers like he usually did, he found solace in the numbers for the most part. When they were correct and uniform it gave him some sense of peace, everything in place just as it should be. Though Edward took pleasure in his job and its uniformity, he could not help but feel like an outsider, like a prime number against a whole office of composite numbers, they could all mingle and divide between each other yet he was alone.
It was as if he could not decide which was worse today, the sound of inane chatter of his colleagues planning a christmas party, of which he knew that once again he would be accidentally forgotten from. Or was it the sound of the loud droplets of rain that smashed against the window of his cubicle, watching them trickle down in pairs and eventually merging together, silently hoping to himself that he would find something similar in his own life.
It was the dead of winter and the outside sky was black eventhough it was only five pm, one could be forgiven into thinking it was well into the night. Edward stood quietly and gathered his things at his desk, he had devised a routine of shutting down his station and leaving before anyone had chance to notice him, not that they did anyway but it made him feel better when he chose to be invisible to others rather than the other way around.
Of course the rain had not let up as Edward had left the office, it hadn’t done for the past god knows how long, yet every night he had a silent hope. The train he boarded was always full from the city, as it drove farther out of the CBD, people peeled out but the first 20 minutes were always unbearable. This time Edward had managed to snag a seat, though he knew that he would be crushed against other passengers in the coming moments he needed to sit. His back and knees were stiff and aching, the cold air not helping his joints, often Edward would stand and avoid the rubbing of shoulders of people sat next to him, yet tonight he just needed to feel the relief in his aching bones, after 20 minutes the carriage would empty and he would be fine, that is what he told himself.
As predicted a pair of civilians sat either side of Edward, the train was already crushed and crowded without him having to feel their shoulders against his. With a stone face Edward looked down at his shoes and pretended not to feel these strangers shoulders against him, their rain sodden clothes against him threatened to tip him over the edge.
With every rattle of the train carriage Edward could feel them at both sides, fresh rain droplets from their coats splashing onto his and preventing him from properly drying.
Edward loved to imagine one day that he would stand up for himself, that he would tell off the bullies that picked on him or the normal people that took advantage of his kindness, he had hoped today would be today however the couple promptly exited the train at their stop, just as Edward was about to say something, or so he told himself.
The rest of the journey was quiet, and as such he could now finally feel his clothes start to dry off, despite the unfortunate business with his previous carriage mates. The train still had many stops to make until it reached his final stop, each one with people spilling out and leaving the carriage emptier and emptyier, just the way he enjoyed it.
The emptying of the carriage was bliss to Edward, it was not fully empty but with each stop a few more people left and it made him feel at ease, that was until you walked over to him and tapped his shoulder.
Edward was stunned, his head was down and he tried to make himself look antisocial, as was the way in Gotham, yet you decided to approach him and speak to him.
“Can I sit here please?”
Your voice was as soft as a spring breeze to Edwards ears, the smile on your face could have turned him into a puddle alone. The heat threatened to rise in Edwards cheeks, showing how easy it was to fluster him, he managed to suppress that for now with a swift nod and intense look at his feet, making sure that his long hair hid his face from view.
That train journey was a pleasant one after you sat, the rocking of the carriage seemed to calm down slightly and the majority of the passengers had left, leaving only Edward, yourself and a handful of students wanting to get home.
The carriage was silent, the only noise that was present was the pattering of rain, a noise that Edward was all too familiar and annoyed with, yet nonetheless he was happy to be sat beside you, regardless of conversation or not.
The train began to bustle and shake more as it came further into the suburbs, the lines would rock as much as they were allowed to and only be fixed if necessary, this resulted in a few joltings in the line. The train quivered and jostled, causing you to bump into Edward, an incident that caused him to blush each time, even further so when you attempted to apologize for such a calamity.
After every bump into Edwards body you would utter a quiet apology that only he could hear, the soft whisper of your voice almost made him shiver each time he heard it, savouring every word you spoke to him.
The rest of trip was filled with bumps, jostles and the creaking noises of the train carriage itself, throughout all this Edward could only daydream about speaking to you, roleplaying in his mind how the conversation with you would go. As Edwards daydreamed he paid no mind to the time, not realising that he had been sat dreaming of a fictitious conversation with you for almost 30 minutes.
The train came to a stop once again amidst a sleepy suburb, one where you would be finally disembarking and exiting the life of the quiet stranger that sat beside you. With a deep breath you gathered your belongings and stood promptly as the train screeched to a halt, with a few swift and deft movements you were at the doors and leaving to return to your home life.
Edward smiled as he watched you walk off into the distance, it was almost as if he was watching you walk away in slow motion. In his mind he wanted to stop you and tell her it was dangerous to be alone in this city, but then again, he wondered how much use he would actually be if you were attacked as you walked home, though you seemed rather sure of yourself and safety, then he remembered that he couldn’t fight anyone.
That thought surrounded his mind as he made his way home, walking back to his local cafe to commence his nighttime ritual, his thoughts of you dancing around his brain were a welcome change to the depressive thoughts he usually had. The cafe was a small place, it would never win any awards and Edward was always dubious of the 5 star cleanliness rating it held, yet he could not deny that they always had his order waiting for him. A latte and a slice of pumpkin pie.
As Edward sat there and enjoyed his pie he could not tear the memory of you from his mind and from the train journey, the first smile of kindness he had ever experienced within Gothom. To receive such a kind smile in this city was unheard of, doubly so for Edward as he could not remember the last time anyone beheld him with such kindness, a look he wanted to remember and also wanted to relive.
