As we approach college finals in the U.S. I feel it's important to remind people that no level of school failure is worth killing yourself over. Some failures have consequences. Some failures change the course of your life. But I promise it's not over.
If a career path you wanted to follow has closed because of your grades, it's ok to mourn. It's normal to be upset that goals you had are unattainable now, especially goals you've had for a long time. But you can recover. Even if you can't try again, you can find another path that's fulfilling.
If you want to keep forging down the path of academics, I'm rooting for you. Take the time you need to rest your brain. Remember that taking a semester, a year, or a few years off is normal and often healthy. Do what you need to face the next semester you take relaxed and ready.
If you've been bashing your head against the wall that is college and can't seem to make progress, it might be time to find a different path. No matter what people in your life are telling you, not getting a college education is not the end of the world. No one's approval is worth more than your life.
Every day dropouts and D students are living a life more beautiful than you could ever imagine. No amount of academic failure can take away the joy of being alive. If you're not feeling that joy right now, that's ok, but please hold on through this difficult time in your life. Things will get better.
This is specifically geared towards college students but definitely applies to anyone younger than that as well. This is not the end.
you can go outside and hit things with a stick. it’s spring you can do anything
This is the best one
(in case anyone needs context, since i know there's a bunch of younguns who didn't even know the "It's gonna be May" meme... The song playing is NSync's song "It's Gonna Be Me", the guy in the mint green t-shirt is NSync member Lance Bass, and the guy in the pink hoodie is his husband Michael.)

One really weird thing transphobic cis women will say is something to the effect of “I was a tomboy, thank god it was before the transgender craze. They would made me transition.” Like, probably not, girl. As you are a cis woman who has never communicated any form of gender dysphoria. It makes it really obvious that they think being transgender is just conforming to different gender roles. There is an ocean between a little girl who likes traditionally masculine fashion and has traditionally masculine interests and a child that is transgender. They are not a slippery slope. They don’t push you down the slide of transgenderism if you cut your hair short when you’re 12.
There are so many trans men who were never tomboys, who were the picture of the ‘perfect little girl’ and genuinely enjoyed traditionally feminine hobbies and expressing themselves in ways associated with femininity. It confuses and angers cis people when they come out as trans because they only see gender as a role to perform and not an identity. If you’re truly a woman, you’re generally not susceptible to randomly turning into a man. If you’re truly a man, you’re generally not susceptible to randomly turning into a woman.
This is so true as a trans guy who NEVER had a “tomboy phase” because I was so desperate to fit in. I conformed to the perfect little girl that everyone around me seemed to really like, and didn’t let up until I finally realised that I was putting in far more effort to please other people than anyone else was putting in to please me. Cis people underestimate how much society hates trans kids, and a lot of trans kids realise that before they even know they’re trans.
So we hide, and we conform, and we wait.
The way that gender crits talk is so funny because they've really convinced themselves that there is some sort of Butch genocide, and it's like, no, no, there isn't. The Butch community has always been extremely diverse with gender identity and expression, you just hated us until two seconds ago when you suddenly thought maybe we could be used as a weapon against trans people, so you never paid attention.
Do you know how many trans people have tried to convince me I am trans? Exactly zero. In fact, very few cis people outside of the Butch/Femme community have absolutely any respect for my Butch identity at all, but trans people by and large are not only respectful of it but damn near in awe of it. Cis people think I am insulting myself when I call myself a Butch, but trans people get extremely excited to talk to me and get to know me.
But every single time I have come across a cis Butch who talks about anyone trying to force trans them, every single one of them without fail has talked at length about having dysphoria.
And it's like, babe, I don't think they're asking if you're trans because you are gnc.
Art tip: gesso your fabric before painting on it
Art tip: if you dilute your gesso with water and paint an entire hat it will take a whole ass 24 hours to dry
Art tip: paint more hats
I think we're on to something...
Just three more panels to go!
Finished! But is it fashion?

thinking about how even gay rights just. aren’t taken seriously by your average well meaning liberal. i’m thinking about how coworkers a few jobs ago just chuckled when i said i didn’t want chicfila bc of their donations to anti gay efforts. more recently, a trans girl who works at my gym told me that her bosses wouldn’t let her hang a pride flag in the gym. This is despite it being a place that is largely queer and a strongly ‘liberal’ soace, because “conservatives go here too.” At what point do certain ideas become unacceptable? at what point do we stop having conversations about queer rights because yes we all know gay people deserve rights? “conservatives come here too!” okay and you’re okay with that? you want that? there’s people who will be made uncomfortable by something as simple as a pride flag and you’re okay with that? you’re accommodating it? have some fucking conviction! do the minimum!
wanting the future to come faster will have you ripping your chest out but wanting the present to stay will have you sleepin with the fishes

one concept im super into is that like. being a vampire is hard. there are ways to make this easier, but those mostly involve joining a coven. so young vampires are vulnerable to being preyed on (ha!) by the coven system and locked into a society created by people older and richer and much better connected.
like. getting a job is hard bc your movement is restricted during the day. the covens have agreements in place with multiple people across multiple industries. they can help you get a job that is remote work or night shift, but you have to join the coven (agree to abide by their rules and participate in their conflicts with other covens) and also agree to give them ten percent of your earnings.
finding food (assuming you’re a moral person who doesn’t want to kill people) is hard. you can eat animals. you can attack people and feed on them without killing them, which is assault. you can try and buy donated human blood from hospitals. but guess who controls most of the black market human blood trade and doesn’t want to sell it to you at a fair price? it’s the covens! also, the covens have arrangements with people they drink from directly, so it’s not like they need the human blood, but being in control of the trade gives them a lot of power in the community.
a lot of times, your options as a vampire are: live in a beautiful, luxurious base where you get free food and accommodations, are able to get a job, have protection from hunters, and have people around that you can talk to, OR, live in poverty, isolation, and fear. covens as organized crime families where it’s really, really hard not to join one of them.
