the witcher 4 discourse is extremely funny in all its uselessness to me tbh because "They made witcher woke wah wah" bitch have you forgotten about openly bisexual ciri? openly lesbian philippa eilhart? the gay woodsman in white orchard? the drag queen in novigrad? the heavily insinuated pansexual dandelion? geralt standing up for minorities time and again? his seething hatred for the priests of the eternal fire? geralt himself saying again and again that he is different too and that he understands the struggle? the people literally calling him slurs in the streets?? and I could go on

the reddit witcher community can be a pretty rancid place, but the idea of Ciri undergoing the mutations (at least in part) because she knows they will make her sterile is *chefs kiss*

like, the majority of her story is people wanting to get her pregnant against her will so she could birth a prophecy child!

and since her own powers (that people also want to make her use against her will) are linked to her blood, the mutations might cancel those out too (if they aren't failing for other reasons)!

she gets to retake definitive agency over her own body, eliminating the reasons she's spent most of her life either hiding or on the run in one fell swoop, while simultaneously getting to become like the people she grew up with & admired & loved like family!

Also, it’s my birthday tomorrow, and my home city of Kyiv, Ukraine, is still being terrorised on a daily basis. We are bracing for another massive attack, while our energy workers are doing the impossible to help people not freeze to death after our energy grid has been heavily damaged.

We still have emergency blackouts in the capital and very sparse, unpredictable electricity, so this is the first new artwork I managed to complete in January.

Just tired and exhausted from the unfairness and the indifference of the world that lets this kind of evil exist and prosper, and not just that, but constantly whitewashes it and finds ways to celebrate it. ____________

She's a burnt out child prodigy. She was chosen and her entire life has been about this one thing. She stopped the apocalypse and fulfilled her destiny. Now she's lost because what do you even do after that? Her whole destiny (that she hated, by the way) was taken from her. She didn't want to rule.

So she goes to the one thing that made her happy. Her good memories are from Kaer Morhen and Geralt and Yennefer, her family. She doesn't know what she's supposed to do now that she's not running. But she sees that there is a job to do. Something that she can do. So she does it and goes through the mutations to do it better.

They didn't ruin Ciri. They listened to her and now they're showing us what she does next.
